“Good Hotel”

Rodeway Inn International

Stayed at the Rodeway Inn for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year with my husband and two daughters (16 and 12). It does need a bit of updating but we found it be clean and comfortable. It is basic but then it is a a budget hotel, and so were happy with the standard (we have stayed in a lot worse in the UK!). Maid service was every day with the towels changed without fail. We did get a chance to take a look at the Holiday Inn next door and although the room was slightly wider than the one at the Rodeway I didn't think the standard was any better and the layout was the same.

Two double beds in the room. The sink was outside the bathroom which although some people have commented this as strange, I liked as it meant you could have a wash or fill the coffee machine up even though someone was taking an age in the bathroom!

Staff were extremely helpful and always polite nothing seemed to be too much trouble. They are happy to call a cab for you or point you in the right direction.

Alan in the bar was great as was the young chinese waitress in the Shogun Restuarant.

Tips: Buy a phonecard from Walgreens and use that to phone the UK. Found it to be the cheapest way.

The I-Trolley and bus stops are right outside the hotel. You can buy 3 day, 5 day or 7 day passes for I-Trolley (you can get these from the universal guy in the lobby) and it goes the length of International Drive which means you can visit 3 shopping malls and Seaword on it. They run about every 10-15 mins. The Lynx bus system is also great and costs $1.75 for a single fare however far you are going on that bus. They do longer passes too. The number 42 goes to Florida Mall which has a Macy's, Sears etc. The hotel does a free shuttle to Universal and Seaword but you need to book before hand and the Universal Guest Services guy only seems to be there from 7.30am to 12.00pm. The hotel also runs a shuttle to Disney but this you have to pay for - as we had a car we didn't use it and so I can't comment on its service.

If you do get a car, I suggest Sat Nav. We didn't and got terribly lost on the way from Sanford to the hotel.

There is a lot of competition on International Drive (especially the so called "ticket and tourist info places" to get you to go to timeshares which can, if you are not interested, be annoying after a while.

We had a great stay and loved Orlando and the Rodeway.

I stayed here one night for work, and it was just fine for what I needed it for - a decent place to sleep and take a shower for a good price (I paid $50). Check-in was easy and the room was clean - I appreciated the in-room coffeemaker (amazing how many expensive hotels don't have that simple feature!). The only downsides I could mention are that the walls are very thin, bring your earplugs!, and I kept waking up during the night to the distinct smell of cigarette smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room (maybe coming from the hall??). All in all, though, I would stay here again if I needed a basic room at a basic price.

My partner and I stayed hear for 12 nights just after Thanksgiving.
We were checked in quickly and in our rooms with in minutes.
I liked the fact we were not asked for a deposit and we didn't have to pay for the in room safe.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds comfy and the bed linen was clean. We also liked the fact the room also came with a small fridge and microwave.

We were only really using the room as a base for visiting some of the parks. The hotel had a shuttle to Universal Studios which we used quite often. There was also a shuttle to Universal City Walks in the evening. There was also an I-Drive trolley stop just outside the hotel.

There are several nice places to eat with in walking distance. We liked the Sizzlers across the road for breakfast and Great Western Steakhouse for a buffet dinner.

We enjoyed our stay here and would book again

This hotel was fine. The price was good for the four night stay. It was in a good location. If you dont have a car the trolley and bus stops are pretty much in front of the hotel and they run very frequently. There are countless places to eat and gift shops within walking distance. They had a shuttle bus that went to Universal twice in the morning and several return trips in the afternoon and evening. They also seemed to have security guards on duty. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The only complaint I had was I thought the housekeeper could have cleaned the bathroom up better. It wasnt horrible but it could have been better. I just think I had a lazy housekeeper when it came to the bathroom. She did everything else to the room but the bathroom she was just being lazy on. Other than that I would stay at this hotel again.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The location. It was close to a lot. Especially if you didnt rent a car. Bus and trolley stops close by.
    • Disliked — The bathroom. The housekeeper could have cleaned it up better than she did.

The tub was nasty as h*ll. I called and requested housekeeping but they showed up as we were checking out. I used my own disinfectant to clean the tub. I've stayed at budget hotels that were clean but this place was horrible. Yes it's close to a I Dr but that's it.
