“Noisy refrigerator”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

This is an old hotel, rather dorm-like, with no frills lobby, pool and rooms. The granite countertops were a nice touch and I love the extra sink outside the bathroom- it really helps to get the family moving more quickly.

Our room had both a small fridge and microwave which is also helpful. Unfortunately, that refrigerator had a "knocking" sound occuring all night long. It sounded like someone knocking at the door and it kept me up all night.

My daughter loved the beds- my husband said too soft. No one will ever agree here- but I would say they were on the soft side. I did notice the fluffy towels, larger than most standard budget hotels.

Hair dryer, coffee, tea, shampoo and soap provided in the room, deli and restaurant in the lobby.

When reviewing this hotel, you have to remember it is essentially a budget hotel and should be reviewed accordingly. However, having stayed in several budget hotels on or around I-drive, I can assure you the Best Western is a lot better than the rest. My wife and I have stayed here on several occasions.

The hotel is relatively old, and the room decor and furnishings reflect this. The rooms are a reasonable size and have all the facilities you would expect. The bathrooms are ok but the plumbing is obviously quite ancient - but it all works, abeit slowly!

Facilities are adequate and the computer room is good, with free wi-fi if you need it. There is a gymnasium and car hire office, and a swimming pool although it is seriously lacking sun.

The reception staff are friendly, happy and helpful, except for the guy who was a misery and generally unhelpful to the point of being obstructive. So, if you do stay here, make sure you deal with one of the girls and not him.

Hotel location is very convienient - just a few minutes walk off I-drive where you can get a trolley or Lynx bus. Universal Studios is definitely in walking range - it takes about 15/20 minutes.

This hotel is not perfect - but which one is? I give this hotel top rating because it is so much better than the rest.

Room Tip: Avoid the guy on reception. South facing rooms are sunny and have a good view

What matters most in real estate may be what matters most in a hotel. LOCATION! We were going to Universal and this hotel was just a bit further than my walking distance. So so close you can practically hear the screamers on the Incredible Hulk coaster.

Beyond that, it is just plane old average. Nothing special, but nothing truly bad either. Free wifi, ample parking and a ticket counter to buy park tickets are all good.

Expensive buffet breakfast (didn't try it), small rooms, and the seemingly mandatory timeshare hustler in the lobby are on the down side...

Adequate, and for us just enough...

We were here for the last few days at the end of a long trip - more than happy with the facilities and location (walkable to the restaurants and bars on international drive). We got a great, last minute price via the HotelTonight app.

A bit above average. Big room, nice bed, good amenities. Front desk guy took 2 phone calls while I was checking in while the other 2 staff at the desk talked to each other, resulting in a 20 minute delay in my checking in. Went down to front desk to ask a question and was not acknowledged for about 10 minutes while the staff chatted (again) to each other (very annoying). Free shuttle, but only one leaving at 8:00 a.m and returns at 8:00 PM, so we ended up driving and paying the $15 to park anyway. Good location to Universal. No free breakfast, however, fab restaurants on International Drive, so no worries there. Good for a night, but I wouldn't stay past that.

Recently stayed here while visiting Universal. Location was great with Wet and Wild down and across the street. We used the free shuttle provided to Universal and it worked very well for us. One night we stayed late for a concert and took a taxi back for only $7. The room was very nice and clean with comfortable beds. The service staff was great, friendly and helpful. We booked this hotel for an awesome price through Hotwire and were very happy with our stay. The only negative for us was the food at the hotel restaurant was not that great and would suggest eating at other nearby restaurants instead.

My boyfriend and I arrived and the hotel, from the lobby looked pretty nice. I had reserved the room through hotwire express deals, so I had no idea how beds I was getting, and for 68 p/night I was hoping for a king bed, at least. We got 2 double beds, on the HIGHEST floor. We dealt with it, and my boyfriend pushed the beds together and ALAS, he found someone else's panties. Anywho, the room, besides the 2 way small beds was nice and clean. The bathroom, was clean but the water temperature was pretty weird. We couldn't find a happy median. Our showers were a little on the too cold or too hot side. But it was nice and close to Universal. I did expect way more for it being a Best Western. I should only give the property a 2 for the night auditors were fairly "eh", but the girl who checked us out was super peppy, and she was all happy. Which was a plus. So, overly priced is how I see this place.
