Just spent a week at the poly. Wow! The first night there my husband & I took in the SPirit of Aloha dinner show. Food was good, but the show is the reason to go. You won't be dissapointed, the dancers were beutifull in colorfull native costume , as well as the dances themselves. Anyway got back to the room after the dinner show, and suprise! There on the bed was a celebration ballon with congatulations on it and with a picture of Mickey & Minnie dressed in wedding apparel. The picture was signed, congratulations Mr& Mrs Cameron. Neat! It's the disney touch. Now is it expensive to stay at the poly, yes. How ever it is a monorail resort, convience, great service, great food. Your going to pay for that, but so worth it. Sat on the beach at night an watch magic kingdom fireworks & then stuck around for the floating light show. Its's a great show! Rooms are big and clean. Hey do you know you now get a free mini frig in the room, it was handy. Room service, excelent, and maid service as well. Going back in 2006.

We retrested to the Polynesian during Hurrincane Charlie. We were previously staying at the Doncesar but were evacuated. We taked to the concierge at the Doncesar and arranged for or 1 night stay at the Polynesian on such short notice. The 2 hour drive from St. Pets Beach to Disney took 5 hours. After arriving we were ecorted into the lobby it was SO NICE with all it's natural beaty of the water falls and the plants. We checked in and reserved a garden view room with two queen size beds. We made our way to our accomadations and and settled into our room. The room was much bigger than the rest because we were on the ground floor we also had a patio with chairs and a table. We decided to go for some dinner we couldn't get into Ohana because is was a zoo so we went to the Kona Cafe. We went for a walk of the grounds at night then went to bed. The next morning we had breakfast at Captain Cooks Snack Company and did some shopping before catching our flight home. Overall the food was WAY overpriced, however the housekeeping service was excellent and kept things inpecably clean. Next time I hope to have stayed longer and get a better feel for the resort and its pool and the parks.

While awaiting military deployment to the Midle East in late October, I was fortunate enough to fly home to Florida for one last visit with my family. My 4 year old daughter was thrilled when I told her that we were going to a Disney breakfast. We have gone to Chef Mickey's at the contemporary resort several times in the past and couldn't ask for a better experience. Always present were Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip, Dale, usually Goofy, and sometimes one other character. Because of such short notice we couldn't get into Chef Mickey's and had to go to the Polynesian Resort. The reservation specialist reccommended strongly that we arrive as early as possible. Unfortunately, we could only get there 10 minutes early. 30 mintues later after our pager went off twice we were seated by a less than entusiastic cast member. Our waitress introduced herself and poured three glasses of orange juice without asking what we wanted to drink. She later returned with a pan of food including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and Mickey shaped waffles. Without saying anything she left just as quickly. she also put a bowl of room temperature watermelon and grapes on the table. The food was good but, no where near what we are used to at Disney restarants. I didn't realize that we would be limited on our food choices. I had to constantly ask the waitress for refills and never did get an alternative drink (not even water)(oops, she did keep trying to fill my upside down coffee cup before finally removing it). The only characters to come out were Mickey and Dale. Yes, my daughter loved seeing Mickey but, would have like to have seen more characters. It was billed as Mickey and friends but, I think friends mean more than one. A sad way to spend a Saturday morning.

I don't think this hotel is wirth its price nor its status. Feels like a DIsney attraction. Not cozy. Not elegant. Just OK.

We just celebrated my son's 11 th birthday at DisneyWorld. We stayed at the Polynesian in the Fiji longhouse. What a magical time! He requested that we have his birthday dinner at O'Hanas and it was wonderful. Our server Cousin Joe came to our table when my son had left to go to the restroom and said "I noticed he was checking his blood sugar, for birthday's we usually bring a cupcake to the table and wondered if that was all right?" I explained that I had ordered a caked ahead of time as this was a special celebration and we planned ahead so he could enjoy a piece of cake. (My son was diaganosed with diabetes two years ago the day after his ninth birthday) Well he brought out the cake and with a group of other "cousins" they serenaded him with Happy Birthday! What a truly heart warming moment that was. Nobody does it better than Disney and for him to notice what my son was doing and be concerned enough to ask, made me know this was "the perfect place to celebrate!"
