I too was a little concerned about the negative reviews that I had read prior to my trip concerning this resort.. To my surprise the resort was beautiful ! The rooms were clean and spacious. I thought I had a problem with my hot water from the shower. I called the front desk right away.. I ran the hot water again and it was fine ! I called back down to the front desk to tell them the problem was solved ! We could not believe there was a knock at the door from maintenance...Really quick serve....The meal plan is must. Totally worth it !! The food at Captain's Cook was very tasty...Ohana's for breakfast and dinner was also very delicious.... My family went to the Spirit of Aloha dinner show.. I think the kids may have had more fun at the pool.. But, the food was excellent ! The staff at the Poynesian were very friendly.. The monorail service is a big plus. Also a must is the Disney Magical Express... I never gave my luggage a second thought when I arrived and when I departed. Overall my family's stay at this resort was very pleasurable and memorable..

  • Liked — The transportation to and from the parks.
  • Disliked — Our walk to the main buidling.

Stayed at the hotel in June. The place was clean, and dinner plan was an excellent choice. We actually had meals left over on the plan. Staff was really friendly and tried to accomodate us. Transporation to the parks and downtown disney was easy to understand. Felt I paid for what I got.

We would highly recommend this hotel. It is pricey but well worth it. Excellent location--we would just ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom in the evening just to walk around for a few hours. We also ate quite a few meals at the Grand Floridian and we could also take the monorail there in a few minutes and just walk back to the Polynesian. We stayed at the Raratonga on the 3rd floor--very clean, very large room. Only complaint was the shower--not much water pressure and it would take several minutes for the water to get comfortable. My son loved looking a the monorail go by our window. Great location--near the bus station, a short walk to the TTC, right next to the Great Ceremonial Lodge, etc. Beautiful grounds. Good meals at the hotel, in fact, almost every meal we had at Disney was excellent. Highly recommend the Disney Dining Plan. Check in/out very smooth and quick. Good gift shops.

We just came back from our Honeymoon in Disney. We stayed at the Polynesian from Monday June 16-Friday June 27. When we booked our room, we booked a garden view room.

When we checked in at 12:00 our room was ready, but they had upgraded us to a Magic Kingdom/Cinderella Castle View. I must say this was a gorgeous room and view. The rooms were very spacious and clean.

Since it was our honeymoon we had to wear the Just Married pins, which got us a lot of perks.

When we left my wife and I had decided that we will never stay off property again and probably stay here again because it is so easy to travel with the monorail. Another perk is if you do drive to another Disney Park (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios) you don't have to pay to park becuase that is included in your rate.

We ate breakfast every morning at Captain Cooks and it was delicious. We also used the Disney Dining Plan which is a great value and makes it very easy. You really get a lot of food when you are on the dining plan.

The price may be high, but it is totally worth it to stay here.

We went in mid-June for our first trip to WDW (visited Disneyland in Calif. many times) and decided to stay at the Polynesian for atmosphere and monorail convenience. Great choice! Check in was easy and staff was very friendly. Our room was in the Tahiti bldg w/ a Garden view and it was spacious and clean. I used a tripadvisor tip of leaving our mousekeeper a little note & tip the first day, and our room was spotless each day! Great advice! It is a walk to the Ceremonial House (main bldg), but as much as we walked around the parks, it didn't bother us. Plus, the Tahiti bldg was right next to the TTC, so we could get a direct bus ride to Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, and never waited longer than 5 min. for either. The TTC also has direct monorail & ferry to MK and Epcot, very convenient. We did the dining plan...lots of food, but still a good deal for your money, especially if you use the table service meals and make reservations to specialty restaurants or character meals . The food at the Ohana character breakfast was okay, but the characters were great with the kids. Captain Cook's (counter service restaurant) was really good and gave a good variety. The volcano pool was great, and one day when it rained, the staff brought out games and crafts in the lobby for the kids to play..great idea! Overall, we loved every moment of our WDW vacation, and consider it the best family vacation yet!

  • Liked — The atmosphere and monorail convenience
  • Disliked — the distance from room to main bldg.
