“Loved It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

As always we hada great time at Disney. My 8 year old boy loved the pool here better than the parks! We spent more time at the hotel than in the parks. Housekeeping was very friendly! We loved it! The neverland club is at this hotel also, this is a activity you leave your kids at and go out for the evening. It's well worth the extra cash my son loved it!

“Visit the islands right in Florida”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

When my wife wanted to stay here I was a little concerned with the age of the resort and that it would show it's age comparted with some of the other resorts on WDW property. I was wrong however. The entire resort seemed clean and well maintained. Our rooms were well detailed with high quality finishes that seems less than 10 years old (I heard they are actually renovating them in early 2013). The resort grounds were beautiful and very relaxing. I found it easy to get away fromt he hustle and bustle of Disney if I wanted to.

Room Tip: There is a monorail stop at the resort but it doens't go directly to Epcot. It's easier to...

“Not worth it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

This was our first trip to Disney with kids, and unfortunately, we picked the wrong hotel. I was swayed by the reviewers who claimed that taking the bus is inconvenient. Unless you really can't handle walking a short distance and occasionally waiting ten minutes for the next bus, the buses are no big deal. The Polynesian is old, and it shows. When was the last time you stayed at a $400 a night hotel with no gym on the premises, a joke of a gym at the hotel next door, no hot tub, no spa, scratchy bedding, and not even a non-greasy option in the takeout restaurant? It is also built only for extremely hot weather, and when the temperatures drop, there is really nothing to do but run back and forth between the warm room and the crowded lobby area. The Grand Floridian is a little better, but again, not exactly a modern convenience hotel. Tip: buy the Disney Dining Plan, they won't let you add it on after arrival. It's way too much food but it's cheaper than purchasing by meal. .

“Excellent location and great charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Disney. This was our fist time visit with our todler to WDW here are some remarks on the Polinesian:
Location: The best to visit Magic Kindom, you can get to the parks by boat or monorail in just a few minutes, Cinderella castle is on your view almost everywhere in the resort and there is a very nice (despite the construction) walking/bike path to visit the Grand Floridian.
Rooms: We booked a concierge level park view room, excellent location in the Hawai building, right in front of the beach, with unstructed view of the lake, the castle, the fire works and the water parade, fantastic!!!.. Rooms do show a bit their age and are not luxurius but they were clean and charming. There is no minibar, just an empty freezer, a 2 cups coffe maker, rooms are not big nor small, bathrooms were not bad but again no luxury.
Service: Service was most of the time very good, with some downs in housekeeping, our room was not made to 3:00pm!.. coffe supply was not refilled... no small details, you could notice the room had been done in a big hurry :(. Service at the concierge lounge was on the contrary very attentive, and so it was through out the different amenities we visit in the resort, though I must add it has lost a bit of the cheer pirit I admired years ago in the WDW workers.
Food: We visited the cafe by the pool, it was OK, I had a Hawaian pork sandwich that was delicius and went to Kona caffe for breakfast, very good food and service. Ohana was booked out and there were lost of people waiting, we did not get to try it.
Marina: There are little boats to rent a the marina, did not try it but seems to be fun, we rented family bikes and rode all the way to the Grand Floridian and through out the resort for about an hour, it was a lot of fun.
Ambience: I really liked the ambience of this resort despite its age, beautiful lobby with gardens and a waterfall, I loved the smell of flowers, rain and wood. This resorts transport you to a different world,it is very opened, with beatiful landscaping all over, nice lake beaches, it really gets you into vacation mood.
Overall we had a good experience, not a luxury one though, but nice to get a break from our buzy lives and have our todler enjoy his first visit to Magic Kindom with the convience of staying at the Polinesian. I do not like to repeat places, but defenitely do recommend to try the Polinesian at least one in your life.!

Room Tip: If you can afford it get a concierge level with a park view, you get your money on the perks from th...

“Disney Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This resort had everything and anything you could ask for. Easy check in great room service, early morning continental breakfast and evening desserts with beer, wine, and other after dinner drinks. We were treated like Royalty.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Magic Kingdom overlooking the lake would be ideal.
