Last July, my family tried the Disney Caribbean resort and what a pleasant experience! My husband and I have two sons, aged 7 and 13 at the time, and the worst part of the resort stay, was having to leave. So, the first chance we got to set up this year's vacation to go back there, we did, and we are headed back there again in a couple of weeks. WooHoo!!!! Now, because of our state of anticipation for this year's trip, we love to stop at this website to view new photos, and read reviews. We smile with all reviews from the visitors who feel like us and compliment the resort, and laugh at a lot of the ones that insult the place because most of them probably have other things that went wrong on their vacation that have nothing to do with the resort. Or maybe it is a case of is the glass half empty or half full. We choose to look at the absolute spectacular things about this resort, so our glass is totally full (smile).
Ok enough commentary, let me help you if you have been on the fence about staying here. The resort is HUGE, and where you stay, will depend on your preference. We originally were going to stay in Martinique because that is where all the reviews suggested, main pool, food court, etc. but when we signed in, the customer service rep showed us a map and we chose Jamaica instead. It, like Aruba, is over the bridge from the main area. It is beautifully landscaped and the kids loved to spot gekkos (spelling?),would get to see the turtles swimming and playing in the water and feed the ducks. All this fun for free on your way to breakfast. You have a choice of a cafeteria breakfast or you can just pickup fruit, juice, a coffee, muffin or even a box of cereal with milk. It is up to you. Having some of your own drinks and snacks convenient later when coming back from the parks too. I suggest renting a car, for a bit of freedom and for convenience. You can easily stop at a local grocery story for snacks and drinks. In your room you have a little fridge, so milk, juice and fruit, fit perfectly. We cannot say a word about lunch or dinner at this resort, because we ate dinner out at the parks or somewhere on international drive. Olive garden always satisfies, as does any restaurant in the Epcot international showcase. We were early risers, and took advantage of Disney's Magic Hours, and Fast Pass. Get your fast pass, that is a sweet invention. You save yourself a lot of time by getting to the popular rides early, beating the crowds, and it gives you a chance to come home to the resort, have a swim and head out to dinner and the parks again. Now the main area also has an Atm, a gift shoppe with disney t-shirts etc, an arcade and of course the main pool and bar. We didn't go to the main pool at all because each "island" has its own private pool which my kids loved so we played there. We also had a BLAST renting the boats, definately give that a try! The grounds are serene and peaceful. If you are at the resort, you can see the Epcot fireworks from there but there is fireworks everynight at every park. Parking at any of the Disney Parks is a free benefit for staying at their resorts. If you are a diehard coffee drinker, there is a Dunkin Donuts on international drive and Universal Parks have Starbucks.
Advice I have to give you before come to Disney world: 1) Buy some comfortable shoes, and do not be afraid to walk. You will be getting a nice workout this week. 2) Plan to have an open wallet. Disney prices are comparable to buying food and snacks at the movie theatre. When you choose this vacation spot, understand that, and accept it or make amends by saving on snacks, water and drinks, by purchasing them at a local grocery store, like I mentioned before. That will save you a few bucks. Just pack the stuff in a backpack, and bring it in to the parks with you. Security will check it and that's that. 3) Rent a car, for convenience and after all, you are in Florida. If time permits, take a day trip to the beach. 4) Take advantage of Magic Hours and Fast Pass. 5) Enjoy your family and take time to enjoy the Tranquil Serenity of this Tropical Paradise.
Remember, first and foremost, you are on VACATION. This is something you have worked hard for all year. Dont let negativity in to your week. If you run into a problem or issue, work on getting it resolved quickly and move on. Keep in mind, too, the individuals who would love to be on the vacation you are on, who cannot, for one reason or another, whether financial, or otherwise, so think of how lucky you are and Enjoy yourself! You will never be in this same place at this same time ever again. Whoever you are with, give them the time of their lives, a chance to have a vacation that they will remember and share with others for years to come! Take pictures of those memories!
With my glass overflowing with excitement for my next visit, and did I mention, it was in just a couple of weeks? (LOL), I highly recommend The Disney Caribbean Beach Resort. For those of you who have reservations booked, wise choice and for those who haven't yet booked, what are you waiting for?
Whoever you are, I'm sending Smiles and Peace your way. Happy Vacations to you and yours!
