“Nice place for the family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Nice facility but definitely feeling her age. Rooms are comfortable but not exquisite. Local pool in each area for a more quite swim, with the main pool for the family zone. Only complaint is very spread out and only place to get a drink or food was at the main pool. I know family place but only one bar area which was very crowded. Food court offers nice selection of food but nothing that is going to wow you. Service was extremely courteous. Unlike other resorts that we have stayed there is self-parking close to your room. Only complaint buses at the parks back to resort were slow. Saw other resorts multiple times before we saw Caribbean Beach bus, this is not an exaggeration. Others were complaining about this as well.

After having stayed here as a teen I wanted to go back to acquaint my family (husband/children) with the very first resort I ever stayed at while in Disney. Since it was a short trip I opted for the slightly more pricey 'Pirate' room. The room is very cute with ship shaped beds, a ship themed shower curtain and the skull and crossbones curtain that separates the sink area from the rest of the room. The tub had an etching of the 'Flying Dutchman' on the shower wall and a framed photo of Jack Sparrow in a marketplace in the bedroom. The dresser looked like a stack of crates, there was also another drawer shaped like a trunk. The refrigerator was hidden in a barrel and the nightstand between the two beds was also barrel shaped. The bedspread pattern was coins and jewels, and the carpeting looked like wooden planks. The table had a compass print on it. Very cutely themed room.
The resort was huge. It was a mile drive from check-in to our room in the South Trinidad Area. The gift shop was huge, there was a nicely sized game room and the food in the food court was good. We did not eat at Shutters (the sit down restaurant). In the evening, you can get a glimpse of some of the Epcot fireworks from the main pool area.
As a guest who mostly stays at Disney's All Star Value Resorts, I will share my comparisons. Caribbean Beach is a moderate resort. Pros: For the extra price, you will get a slightly bigger room. You will get two sinks in the bathroom vs. one at the value. Your pool will have water slides, there will be a hot tub/jacuzzi on premises, there will be a sit down restaurant on premises. You will not have to walk as far to get to a pool or a bus stop, as there is one of each in each 'area'. You will also not have to walk as far (in most instances) to get from the parking area to your room.
Cons...the bus service doesn't seem to work quite as well as the value. At the value resorts, everyone goes to the front and gets picked up at the same stop. At Carribean, the bus has to make 6-8 stops at different areas around the resort. On our first day, we decided to go to the Magic Kingdom. It took forever for the MK bus to get to our South Trinidad stop where about 25 people were already waiting to go to MK before we even arrived. Once it got there, the bus filled and could not accept everyone wanting to go. In the meantime, at least 2 buses from all the other resorts arrived and left practically empty. Finally, a second bus arrived and everyone left was able to squeeze on. On a good note a cast member named Mike was at the stop, on the phone, trying to do what he could to get people on their way, so at least there seems to be a system in place for 'backups'.
Another con is the long walk (from South Trinidad anyway) from the room to the main pool/area, however when making your reservation, request to be close to the building. Disney cannot guarantee this request, but will make every effort to accommodate it. If all else fails, they do have an internal bus that circles the resort, stopping at all of the bus stops. That is an option if you really don't wish to walk.
The atmosphere is great and the beach/hammock areas are wonderful.
In short, if you are the type that likes to spend the majority of your time away from the room and in the parks, I would stick to the value resorts, however if you are looking for a bit of a more relaxing trip and want to hang by the pool or in a hammock a few days, then a moderate is the way to go.

Just visited this place the grounds are beautiful & well maintained makes you forget about the " busy" crowds from the parks really feels like you are in the carribean ! We stayed in preferred room in Trinidad North which I would recommend its close to the Port Royal & main pool/bar. The room was ok nothing great, small but clean. The buses where fine never waited more than five minutes for any of them. Every night they would show a kids movie which was a nice way to relax have a cocktail while your kid watched a movie and you could see the Epcot fireworks from the resort. The " main pool" was very nice had a small pirate area for little kids with slides the life guards were very attentive. They have life vests also for the kids . Overall I thought it was a very nice resort!

We were looking for property within the Walt Disney World Resort area and we found this hotel. Many comments confused but we finally decided to book here.

The Hotel is magnificent, consists of villas with names of islands in the Caribbean.
While not the most luxurious resort and has the best rooms at the resort really enjoyed, is a good deal of cost and rest.
After a day of walking in the parks we came to rest.
You have to walk a lot but the landscapes are wonderful.
They have a diastema very efficient internal transport as well as free transportation to all Disney parks.
Excellent location less than 15 minutes from Epcot and Disney about 25.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in Jamaica, is just a few steps across a bridge of food and shopping area. It has only tw...

After spending a week with our family at another resort, my 11 yr old son and I stayed a few extra days in one of the pirate rooms. From the frayed carpet in the lobby seating area, scuffed walls and to the moldy caulk around toilet, the property seemed in need of serious update (the exception is the beautiful pool area). It is difficult to get around the resort as well as to get to the bus stations from some of the rooms. We did find however the staff was top notch in the services they offered, including trying to help guests navigate the difficulty of the resort being so spread out. Bell services was very responsive as well. Having stayed at 5-6 other resorts, would not recommend this resort for any reason other than fun pool for kids and pirate themed room.

This place is amazing if you have an active family that likes the outdoors and likes to walk this is the place to be close to all the disney stuff and all the other tourist attractions in Orlando. This resort is located minutes away from downtown disney which is kool to hang out with the family, small children will love the T-rex resturant there. There is a laid back atmosphere here.

Room Tip: there is no elevators so plan on packing light. trinidad south is beautiful to stay.
