We just got back last night from our stay at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort....and we didn't want to leave!! I was very hesitant to stay here after reading some of the reviews (about bed bugs). The first thing I did when we got to the room was to thoroughly inspect the beds. We had a room with two double beds so I lifted the sheets and mattress covers on both beds and searched the entire mattress and seams and there were absolutely no bugs. The mattresses were incredibly clean and looked fresh and new. So after the inspection I looked around the rest of the room and it was very clean and I was quite impressed. The woman who cleaned our room each morning was excellent, she did a great job and the room looked fresh and new each afternoon when we returned.
We also really enjoyed the property, very reminiscent of the islands. There is a lot of walking which we loved but if you have young kids or cant walk far they also offer a shuttle that runs around the property. The Old Port Royal where you eat and shop was very clean, cute and the food was really good too. I have food allergies and met with the head chef, who was very helpful and accommodating, which is reassuring for anyone suffering with any food related allergies.
Overall we had a great time at this resort and would definitely stay there again!!

We loved our stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort. It was more than we ever expected. Everything was so clean and beautiful and our room was cleaned daily and we had no problem with anything. Our check-in was fast and the staff was helpful and very friendly.

We did the meal plan and I would recommend doing that. It was worth the extra cost.

I would highly recommend this resort to couples or anyone with children.

We hated to leave and have already planned our next Disney trip for this November.

My 8-year-old son and I stayed here in May 2007 and we loved it! We would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time we come to Disney. Check-in was a breeze. There were no lines and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She even gave my son some Mickey Mouse stickers. Each building at this resort is named after a Caribbean island to go along with the theme. Our room was in the Trinidad South building on the first floor facing the waterfront. The view was beautiful!

There was a beach and pool area nearby but my son was more interested in the main pool. It was a bit of a walk to the main pool and Old Port Royale (dining area), but the scenery was nice and my son enjoyed finding lizards and rabbits along the way. He loved the pool, too!

We had a rental car, so we drove to the dining area in the mornings on our way to the theme parks. I highly recommend this approach since parking at the parks is free if you are staying at a Disney resort. Plus it will save you time vs. waiting for the bus at the Trinidad North building (last bus stop at the resort, so busses can fill up before they get there).

Old Port Royale was themed elaborately and a lot of the merchandise in the gift shop tied in with 'Pirates of the Caribbean', which is great if you're traveling with little boys. We only ate breakfast here, but there was a decent selection and the food was pretty tasty.

Our room was very clean and Mouse Keeping was great! They left towel animals in various places around our room, which my son loved! Be sure to tip them well. After we started aquiring stuffed animals at the parks, Mouse Keeping would arrange them on my son's bed along with the towel animals. They even left him a Disney magazine to enjoy!

We had the pizza service one night after a late night at the parks and it was pretty good. Service was faster than expected and they brought us a menu since I mentioned over the phone that I didn't have one in the room. It felt like everyone's goal was to make our stay as pleasurable as possible.

A few tips if you're planning to stay here or at another Disney resort:
1. Take advantage of the extra magic hours. We were able to see everything we wanted to at all 4 parks in 3 days. Plus the lines are much shorter (no wait at Expedition Everest!).
2. Drive to the theme parks if you have a rental car. Freedom to come and go as you please is underrated!
3. Pack some snacks to keep in the room or with you at the parks. Food everywhere in Disney is slightly expensive.

I have gone here 2 times in a row with my family of 5 and i loved it both times! It so comfortable and cute! There is a great walking path all along the hotel thats good for a walk or run. Also, i loved the fact that there was a lake surrounding us and there were little beaches everywhere to relax on. On the beaches they had chairs and hammocks. The one thing i didnt like was that you werent allowed to swim in the lake. But everything else was good. And to all those men wondering about the food and alchol, the food is delicious and there is a little hut like bar outside. I recommmend this resort to anyone, with our with out kids!

“Our home away from home at Walt Disney World”

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

I have stayed at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort seven times, the first when I was a kid on my first trip to Disney in 1992, and most recently in February 2006 for an extended family trip to celebrate my sister-in-law's 30th birthday. We love this hotel and have stayed here on almost every Disney trip, since it is fun, familiar, and moderately priced.

The Caribbean Beach is a large hotel (about 2,000 rooms) with a Caribbean island theme. Every Disney hotel has a theme, but don't expect lots of Disney cartoon characters all over the place - hotel decor fits more with the "theme" than with anything specifically Disney. The hotel consists of six "villages", each having 3-6 individual buildings all clustered together having the same color scheme, and named after a Caribbean island: Martinique, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados. These "villages" are all clustered around a large man-made lake. Each "village" has its own swimming pool, ice machines, and a beach area on the hotel's lake. Each "village" also has its own bus stop for the Disney buses that transport you to the theme parks, since the hotel is quite large. Buses going to the Caribbean Beach will stop at each stop at the resort to pick up or drop of park-goers before going to its destination.

The hotel buildings are two stories tall and all rooms open to the outside. There are no elevators, only stairs, to the second floor rooms. Rooms are clean, and room amenities are fairly standard for a typical two or three star chain hotel in the US. Sometimes the maids will have fun when cleaning your room, such as making animals out of the towels or setting up stuffed animals as if they were playing a card game or watching TV. Fun "extras" like that are common everywhere at Disney World and part of why I love staying at a Disney hotel.

Old Port Royale is the common area of the hotel, a "village" of its own located between Martinique and Trinidad North. It contains a large food court with a variety of food options, a sit-down bar/restaurant, a gift shop, an arcade, a larger pool with a water slide along with a hot tub, and a marina for renting boats to take out on the lake or surrey bikes to ride around the resort (the last two are very fun if you have the time/money). As with all Disney resorts, you can buy a mug at the start of your trip that offers free unlimited refills of soda and coffee from the cafeteria, which is well worth it if you plan to drink a lot of those beverages.

I have stayed at three of the "villages": Trinidad South, Barbados, and Martinique. The rooms and amenities are the same at each "village", but I highly recommend staying at either Martinique or Trinidad North, due to the close proximity to Old Port Royale. I think they now charge more for these rooms, but it is worth the extra money, unless you don't mind a long walk to and from Old Port Royale. I think they also run an internal resort shuttle if you don't stay close to Old Port Royale and don't care to walk that far.

One thing I HIGHLY recommend is to stay at a Disney resort if you are primarily visiting Walt Disney World. It is well worth it to hop on a bus right outside your hotel to visit any of the theme parks or Disney attractions. The hotel staff at Disney resorts are very friendly and sometimes do little things to make your stay "magical"; it completes the whole fun of going to Disney in the first place. If money is of concern, the "value" resorts (Pop Century, All-Stars) are very reasonably priced, and you won't get a decrease in quality or miss out on the Disney "magic". I stayed at the Pop Century once, and although I like the Caribbean Beach a little better, I still thought it was a perfectly fine place to stay.

    • Liked — Easy access to Disney attractions, Caribbean theme is very nice, buildings are spread out so it doesn't feel crowded, lots of food options
    • Disliked — Can be a long walk to Old Port Royale, especially if you're staying in an outlying "village"
