We enjoyed our stay there very much. All employees were pleasant and helpful. We are planning to come back again in the near future.

The hotel is fairly large and I found the staff to be helpful despite the large number of tourists they’re serving. The room rate reserved was a double queen and it seems the rooms are quiet, except for hallway noise occasionally. The hotel is a little worn in places, and although the rooms have some newer amenities, there were signs of age there too, especially with cracked bathroom fixtures and a small bathroom. There are larger flat panel televisions, but with analog reception, so the picture isn’t very good. The bed linens are nice and there is coffee and other basic amenities provided. Internet connection is per an extra fee. There is also a “resort fee” of $12 per day. There are pools, a tennis court, and a larger exercise room among other things. Parking is either valet or self-park a little further from the entrance.

The best thing about this hotel is that you can get a very good rate considering you’re right across the street from Downtown Disney. That’s convenient for walking to Pleasure Island nightlife or eating at the restaurants or shopping. You’re also a short drive from many more restaurants, outlets, and the theme parks.

So in summary, at a good rate ($99 or so), this hotel is a decent selection because of the location. However, it is overall an average hotel and you’re not likely to be “wowed” during your visit.

We booked directly with the hotel's website, and got a good rate. The hotel had recently undergone renovations. At check-in we asked for a high floor with a view, we were also allowed to check-in early. The front desk was excellent. Our room was not huge, but had a new feeling due to the renovations; LCD TV, internet, furniture, bathroom and linens were not worn-out at all. The balcony (23rd floor?) got us a commanding view over the lake and into the distance.

The pools are not too crowded and are clean. The location is very close to Downtown Disney, about a 5 minute walk. One nice touch is that the parking lot is free, compared to other area hotels which are not. This is not quite a resort hotel, but it is great for those wanting to be close to Disney parks.

  • Liked — recent modern renovations, value, location, balcony views
  • Disliked — not many dining options

I stayed at this hotel during my annual vacation. When I booked this hotel, I, like most people was looking for a nice hotel at a reasonable price, boy was I shocked (pleasantly) when I arrived at the Buena Vista Palace. According to the rating it was listed as a 3 star but I found it to be along the lines of a 5 star. The wait staff was friendly and helpful, the restuarants offered a nice variety of items, a bit pricy though. The pool and execerise center was always clean and with fresh towels. My favorite was the room; the decor was comtemporary and fresh, no lingering odors and bottle water was provided daily. I would stay here again and again. Oh, one more thing, free transportation to theme parks was a bonus!!

Due to a bad weather in our home town, our flight was cancelled, and so we stayed an extra day in Orlando. The WDW Dolphin could not accommodate us another night (see my recent review for this hotel if you want to learn more about the Dolphin) so we went on the web and booked BVP for $99. This was a great value considering what they had to offer, yes there was a resort charge of $12 but it included parking (I paid $10 a day at the Dolphin), 2 water bottles (Dolphin charged $7 for this), internet (Dolphin charged over $10) on the first floor, the work out room (again $8.00 at the Dolphin), and more. I'm not complaining at all, especially with how the Dolphin charges more through pieces. We had a water view which was great and the room was actually physically better in everyway then the WDW Dolphin, it was new, modern furniture, had a flat screen, and great temperature control (something the Dolphin lacked). The hotel staff was courteous and although the swimming complex did not compare to the Dolphin, it was above average and included a play ground for the kids. The Watercress restaurant served a great breakfast. The location of this hotel is fantastic as it's a 5 minute walk to Downtown Disney. I would definitely stay here again, especially b/c of the location, value, and amenities.

This hotel has great potential and needs more work before they should get a 5 star rating. Fortunately, I had read all the Trip Advisor reviews before we went and was not surprised when almost all of the negative comments were accurate. I will list the negatives first. Some items can be easily improved and some can not.

Noise from hallway and adjoining room - This hotel could use door sweeps on the bottom of all room doors. We heard the people through the adjoining door and all hallway activity as if our doors were wide open.

Noisy bed frame - The sheets, blankets and mattresses were great. The frames on both queen beds were very loud during times of intimacy, this was our our most annoying problem.

Loud toilet - I really think they need to have the insides of the toilets looked at, there is no need for such a nice toilet making such loud water flow sound while refilling.

Distorted TV picture - The wide screen digital TV does not display the regular channels properly and the the digital channel features did not work due to some problem with the select button. The TV also projected a flashing red light on the wall during the night when it was turned off, definitely a design flaw.

Apathetic checkout clerk - The lady who handled our checkout was apathetic at best. She had very little to say and did not
even offer the standard "I hope you enjoyed your stay." or "Thank you, please visit us again". She looked sad, like she was having a bad day or hated her job. I almost asked if she was ok.

Daily Resort Fee - The only thing I can think of about the $12 resort fee is that they are trying to make the room rates look
lower by charging that separately. It made the room invoice look twice as long by listing the resort fee and taxes separately.

Resort priced food and drinks - The food and drinks are way overpriced. We decided to eat at off Disney locations and saved
50%. There are many great restaurants right outside Hotel Drive.

Long walk to the parking lot - We walked through the convention area to get to our car. It was much cooler than going all that way outside.

And now the positive comments:
Location - We requested a Disney view in advance and were able to see the Epcot fireworks each night.

Pools - They have two pools and two hot tubs, we enjoyed an evening swim on two nights.

Room Decor- The room was clean and updated. Very nice desk and chair.

Free Internet Access - We found the mini Internet cafe on the 1st floor helpful, only 4 PCs, but better than none.

After Visit Survey - They sent us an E-mail survey after our visit and I was able to share all my concerns and suggestions.

Overall, I would love to stay here again in the future, but I will need to hear that they have made some improvements on the
items listed above. Location is a good thing, but there are far too many other nice hotels to stay at in this area with similar rates. This hotel could be turned into a 5 star property with minimal effort.

  • Liked — Downtown Disney location.
  • Disliked — Room and bed frame noise.

After coming off a cruise, we decided to spend two nights in Orlando at the Buena Vista Palace. I found them through American Express and the website was impressive. Although the "island" is nothing more than a creek with a bridge over it the rooms were still quite beautiful. We had a suite that the front desk said had just been updated. Having two bathrooms and a seperate bedroom from the living room area was nice. Not to mention that we had (2) balconies. My only real complaint about the entire stay at the hotel was the concierge. We spoke to four(4) diferent people at the desk and none of them were from Orlando or Florida for that matter. Aside from selling tickets to the amusement parks they couldn't be of much help. We asked for directions to the beach and the gentleman had to look up a beach because he didn't know of one. He ended up giving us directions to a beach that was three hours away. Luckily, I asked the valets for help and they were excellent. The Valet also had helped me the night before with directions because the Concierge wasn't familiar with the area. Also on the night of the 17th, we came home late and wanted to go swimming. The pool is supposed to be open with a "Pool Concierge" 24 hours. when we went down to the pool, there were about 200 used wet towels all over the pool area and no clean dry ones. When we called from the pool to ask them to bring us some towels the Concierge actually argued with us that there were some there even though we were looking at all the wet towels. Finally, after about 10 people complained, they brought us clean towels to use. Hopefully they will retrain the department. If not ask the Valet for help. They were amazing!!!!

  • Liked — The "Island Suite Rooms" were beautiful
  • Disliked — The Concierge Team were Rude and Unhelpful
