“Just average at best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2009

Stayed at this hotel as an alternative to the Disney Resorts. The location is good as it adjacent to SeaWorld and within a short distance to Disney attractions. The hotel itself is more of a business/conference style setting. I'm mystified why they have "Resort" in their name. The hotel is average plus at best. I understand the hotel was recently renovated, but it still has an early 90s theme feel with the vibrant colors and gold accents. The staff were very nice overall. I witnessed an argument between two housekeeping staff ladies. I was waiting to ask them a question, and they continued arguing as I stood there...it was like "hello, I have a question". The food at the hotel is less than average at best. The pool is a disappointment....pretty small and crowded even with 100 people by the pool. The tennis courts and game areas near the pool are not maintained properly. Best feature of the hotel is the proximity to SeaWorld, ease of use of the trolley that winds around the area, the lobby is very nice and open, and having a Starbucks in the lobby is nice. The room is large, but the walls were paper thin. I heard my neighbors enjoying themselves to put it bluntly. And the beds were not comfortable at all. Overall I wouldn't return.

Just finished a stay at this hotel and I was very impressed with the service and the quality of the room. Everything was neat clean and in its place. The lobby is beautiful and I had a room overlooking SeaWorld and saw the fireworks show every night. The gym was really good compared to most hotels. Exercise room along with free weights a plenty of cardio machines. Wake up early and the place is quiet and the fruit is fresh in the gym!

The only negative to the Renaissance is the price. I did not have to pay because it was a business trip but after paying $16 for valet a night, ($12 for self parking), $15 a day internet access, (free in the lobby), and expensive hotel food (of course); I am not sure this place is one of the better value hotels... unless you want to spend a lot of money. You are also taxed on the final bill for the internet service and parking. There are other Marriott's in the area that have the Marriott quality without the resort/spa price tag.

Other than that, it is family friendly, with a lot of children running around, but it is good for business as well. The staff was very friendly and the bartender at the Sushi bar, Mike, serves up some good drinks!

I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2009 for a conference that was taking place in the hotel.

Rooms - very large ("oversized"), clean, good bathrooms, comfy kingsize beds, quiet
Restaurants & bars - very good, although quite expensive. "Tradewinds" does an excellent breakfast, and I also had a great steak there on the Sunday night. The sports bar in the lobby does good wings and has a good range of beers.
Location - not relevant for me as everything I needed was in the hotel, but it is great if you want to go to Seaworld or Wet n Wild, and the rest of International Drive is easily accessible via the I-Ride trolley system, which stops right outside the hotel lobby.
Other - the staff were very friendly and helpful, and I only have praise for them. The internet access in the rooms is not free, but if you are fortunate you will be able to receive the WIFI signal from the lobby, where it IS free. There is a decent gym and a nice pool.
General comment - typical top-of-the-market chain hotel, i.e. big, spacious, good service but lacking a little charm and individuality. Expensive, but then I wasn't paying!

Stayed for two nights at the AAA rate for $84 a night. Went to discovery cove and seaworld and both were very close. We went with friends and their kids. Check in was easy and they were happy to get us rooms near each other despite the fact that we reserved two different rate rooms. Both ended up with seaworld views and king plus sleeper sofa rooms. Staff was incredibly attentive and even learned our kids names so they addressed them by name at the restaurants. The sushi restaurant was great with living room type seating, and great food. The sports bar was equally nice and you could order from either menu at either place and the waiters were happy to accommodate. The only drawbacks were, the not so cold room fridge, no shuttle service to seaworld (although they were happy to drive us in an SUV to discovery cove), and the pool was rather crowded. All in all, the staff is incredibly eager to please and make your stay special. We would definitely go back even at twice the price.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall it is a great location and nice hotel. However, we had read on this site that things "went missing" from time to time. During our stay, someone from the hotel came into the room and stole my wifes jacket.

The hotel security investigated this incident and did nothing to help. Marriott's corporate offices also told us they were not liable for anything "which has not been placed in the hotel's custody for safekeeping".

So be warned, unless you check your entire suitcase each day with the front desk, they apparently feel that they have no obligation to protect the traveler.

My wife and I had wonderful stay at the Renaissance in Orlando, across the street from Sea World. We took advantage of the summer rates and celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary on July 4th weekend. The room was excellent, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our room location overlooked the pool area. To get to Sea World, we simply walked across the street (and parking lot). We also took advantage of the spa at the hotel which is a great anniversary gift. We thought the sports bar was a bust. Way over priced and lousy service. We didn't take in the sushi bar nor the the other restaurant. The hotel itself is miles away from a lot of the International Drive area, so we driving a car is good idea. There is a grocery store (Publix) close by to get and snacks and drinks.

My wife and I stayed at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were accomodating. The lobby of the hotel is very nice, and the hotel, pool, and the outside grouds were very clean, maincured and well-kept. I had a massage at the Neu Lotus Spa, located on the second floor of the hotel, and it was a very nice spa. Although we did a get-away for two, we noted that the hotel was very kid friendly, but at the same time, that didn't impose on our romantic getaway. All of the restuarants served good food, and the breakfast buffet at Tradewinds was great, although the food was a bit in the costly side. The hotel has a 24hr Fed Ex Express and a starbucks in the lobby. The Lobby is very open and roomy. The only down side of the hotel is you have to pay for parking daily, to the tune of $13.00 per day.We plan to return and stay at this hotel with our 8 year old later this summer.
