I was the only one at the check in desk - clerk was standing in front of me talking to someone on the phone (obviously someone she knew because she finally said "well, I have to go") - avoided making eye contact until she finished the phone conversation. That probably only took 30-45 seconds but felt like an hour with me standing there just waiting. Once I gave her my card and picture ID, she asks me the question "would you like a King?" I told her I was going to be in the room for 8 hours and it didn't matter as long as it was quiet. She then asked "so do you want a sofa in the room?" My response was "just make it quiet."
I was assigned the room and left the hotel with friends to go to an event, arriving back at 1am. Entering into the room I was greeted by a very musty smell that came close to the odor of urine. The room was very warm with the air not set on. At 1am I was more concerned about getting to sleep so I ignored the smell and got to bed.
Right after I turned the light off, I started hearing the sounds from the next room where the couple was apparently having much more fun than I was. (The walls are paper thin). I finally fell asleep but at 3:30am, all kinds of noise came out of the hallway with a couple guys who'd been drinking coming down the hall with their young kids. That noise of doors slamming, etc., went on for a while.
The bed itself was comfortable but had a sheet, heavy blanket, and then a heavy spread on top .... (this is summer in Orlando). The pillows were typical hotel pillows but had a bunch of them at least (needed 2 to make the thickness of 1 quality pillow).
In the morning, went to take a shower and noticed that the shower head was actually rusty.
About the only positive thing I can say about the place was that valet parking was very efficient. I really can't understand these hotels that charge $12 to self-park and $15 to have valet.
Not a place I'll be staying in again. Very surprising to me for a Sheraton!
