The service rendered by the persons working at this location, including valet parking and restaurant is excellent. The only one comment I would make is that the Menu at the restaurant could have a larger variety.

This might not be an obvious first choice of an Orlando hotel, but here are some points to recommend it if your vacation/stay is not all about the Mouse:

- It has an easy to find and get-to location, just off Ivanhoe freeway exit.
-It's at the north end of downtown: which makes it convenient for both downtown restaurants and getting to Winter Park (imho): the prettiest part of Orlando (less than 10 minutes drive).
- Easy parking, both in garage, and lots of available street parking
- About 1.5 miles north of business downtown, around Church street. Less than $10 in taxi fare, or there is a hotel shuttle that will take you anywhere around the area: we used them to go both downtown and the Science Center area with very little fuss or wait.
-There's a really nice lakeside pathway for either walking/jogging almost literally right outside the front door.
-Some great restaurants within walking distance: try Citrus, or Gargi's (right on the lakefront)
- Floors 4, 5 and 15 have been remodeled recently. Ask for these; you'll avoid all the other comments @ dated rooms. I found the reception desk to be very helpful and accommodating.

Some negatives:
- on the side of hotel facing the train you might need earplugs. Ask front desk, if you are sensitive to noise, for other side of hotel.
- the college age kids manning the concierge desk are all (I spoke to 4-5) friendly but completely clueless. I wonder if they actually live in Orlando, they knew so little about the area.
-no jacuzzi. Really? A hotel without a jacuzzi? Very, very sad.
-breakfast buffet is standard fare. Not awful, but very, very dull. They could easily kick it up a notch.

Room Tip: 4th, 5th or 15th floors are recently remodeled; ask for side away from train if sensitive to noise.
See more room tips
Green Features: They divide the trash cans between recycling/not recycling. Very confusing. I'd prefer to have separate trash cans.

We enjoyed our stay, but it could have been better with more attention to detail. We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay well away from the theme parks. It is convenient for the freeway exit, but it a fair walk to anything "downtown". On arrival we went straight into the multi storey parking attached to the hotel. I tend to avoid valet parking. We had to pay in advance for the parking at the barrier rather than it being added to the bill, which is a bit odd. The convenient spaces were reserved for the valet parking. At the front desk we were checked in efficiently, but mechanically. I think they are supposed to give you a cookie at Double Tree check-in, but they didn't bother. We were about to head for the room when I remembered we had paid for breakfast, which had not been mentioned. Just as well, because we needed vouchers, so we avoided some inconvenience, no thanks to the staff. The room was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. We slept well apart from when some morons were shouting in the corridor at 2am. The last Double Tree I was in was Aberdeen, Scotland, three weeks before. Both hotels had identical radio alarm clocks. Neither of them worked properly. The ice machine wasn't working one day, and someone had kicked in the front of the drinks vending machine. Best service was at breakfast, where the waiter was friendly and attentive. Breakfast food was good, but not the widest selection I have seen in this type of place. There was nothing on the dinner menu we wanted, so we ate elsewhere. We walked, and there was nothing really wrong with the surroundings, but some people may be nervous of walking through that type of area where there are few people about.

Thank you for posting your feedback. While we are glad that you enjoyed our location and the level of service you encountered at breakfast, it was disappointing to find out that not every aspect of your time here was as positive. Please accept our sincerest apology for not receiving your chocolate chip cookie at check in and for the inconveniences you experienced. We hope that one day you will visit us again and we can provide the service and experience that exceeds your expectations.

Nice place and nice stay! Our room was very comfortable. Hotel has a restaurant and bar. Bar has a adequate selection, but nothing special. Restaurant food was OK, but I would definitely eat elsewhere next time. Both are OK in a pinch. Be prepared though, parking is $15 in the parking garage. You must pay when you enter.

Dining room was unattractive. Chairs were stackable and ugly. Rooms were dark with dark walls. Halls were dark. Room was shabby. Paint peeling off of bathroom wall. Carpet was dirty and stained. Missing chair. Whoever would paint walls brown especially in Florida? only one bar of soap in bathroom until the next day. One sheet of paper on notepad and we needed more. Maid brought in soap and new notepad the next day. No one was available to take our luggage to room and we couldn't find a cart to take our luggage to room on our own. Questionable as to having enough employees to help during check in rush. We stayed for a wedding. The reception was done in an excellent manner and was quite good The food was excellent in this venue.

We booked two rooms for the Eagles Concert playing at the Amway Center. The stay was fantastic. Valet was great, food - excellent. Didn't have to leave the hotel except for the concert. Will be back for sure. Thank you !!
