“Great Staff, but So Many Problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

This is more like 2.5 stars...

First, before I write anything negative, I have to say that the staff here is great. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the event staff to the management was friendly and professional. This is a well-managed hotel, but unfortunately it is in desperate need of a makeover - interior and exterior.

First, the outside of the hotel is very, very dated giving a poor first impression. The interior common area spaces are fine, but step into the elevator which looks like a time machine from 1987, and then the rooms...oh the rooms. Drab green carpets, furniture that needs updating, wrinkled duvet.

Finally it is right next to the train tracks. A freight train came by at 2 a.m. and blared its whistle and horn for 10 minutes straight. It was kind of surreal.

If this hotel was demolished, rebuilt somewhere else, and then they rehired every single staff member, I'd stay here again.

I was doing business on the east side of Orlando and this was the only hotel that was available at the time. The hotel was nice for downtown and the staff was very friendly. Once there was something else available, I took it. Here are the problems
- Valet parking only ($16 per night)
- No free WI-FI ($10 per night)
- Train that passes a couple blocks away around 3:00 AM has to blare horns waking everyone up.
- Very close to highway and the building is not very soundproofed.
- Orlando highways are nothing but tolls so if you are going to stay in the city, stay in the city, don't deviate.

I would only suggest this hotel if you have business downtown.

Room Tip: Stay in a room facing away from the highway. Right next to that is the train that shows up three in...

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay as all comments are extremely important to us. I am pleased that you found the staff friendly as we take great pride in our hospitality and service.

In regards to the noise from the trains, there are some trains that do pass through Downtown Orlando which affects most, if not all, of the hotels. Unfortunately, some of our guests may be disturbed by this noise and I apologize that you were during your visit.

Our Downtown Hotel Association has been working with the City of Orlando, which is working on making the Downtown area a “quiet zone”. Plans are already in the works to address this issue that will positively impact our both Downtown hotels and residents.

I hope that you will give us another opportunity to better serve you on your next visit to Downtown.

Sincerely,

Jeff Brinda, General Manager

What can I say, not too much 'cause there was not really anything to complain. Great hotel, very friendly stuff, clean and big rooms, nice breakfast and the most important thing:
PET FRIENDLY!!!! And no extra costs for your dog. I have booked already again!

As a very frequent traveler, the Sheraton Orlando Downtown is fabulous. Cannot say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire staff (front desk, room service, restaurant, valet,) The accommodations are wonderful, the beds are comfy and the rooms are large and modern. Highly highly recommend.

Stayed here just one night after a Magic game and couldn't have been more happy. Clean rooms and friendly/helpful staff, especially the front desk! Nothing but friendly faces who genuinely want to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in the Downtown area.

The hotel staff was very nice and the room was clean, but the hotel is directly next to train tracks and the trains ran ALL night with full train whistles, horns or whatever they call it. There's no changing that!

Room Tip: As far from the train tracks as possible!

I stayed here over the weekend and was not too impressed with the property. The lobby is pretty nice and the gallery is quaint. The gift shop is extremely over priced. Staff was nice enough at the desk, but not too friendly. I must say the Housekeeping staff is extremely welcoming and conversational. They are truly exceptional and kept the room as clean as possible.
The room was pretty depressing though. Not enough lighting and in a dire need of re-decoration.
Room service is extremely expensive. Almost $40.00 for pancakes and bacon??? Ridiculous!

The pool was lukewarm, so it wasn't too bad, though it could use a cleaning. But there's no pool attendants or staff available outside, so it was a very bad situation when the only towels available at the towel bin were over run with loads of ants. Ants that I almost wrapped around my body!! It was disgusting and I had to walk to my room without drying myself.
If it hadn't been for the friendliness of the Housekeeping staff, I would have rated this hotel as terrible.

I won't be back.

Room Tip: Don't choose a hotel in Downtown Orlando if you have plans to go to the parks!!
