Well where do I start? This resort has much improved since we were last here 3 years ago - my review at that time said that it was shabby! However, the reception area has been updated, lovely furnishings and staff who we dealt with in that area friendly and cheerful. We stayed in the Siesta key building, newly refurbished which is about a 5 min walk from the main building. We had a corner apt so had no neighbours. The interior was really nice, very clean They are currently remodelling Big Pine Key which is the block closest to the main building. So that's a good one to chose - I am sure it will be so the same high standard.
The main pool has a volleyball net across part of it which was great and this pool is the most popular pool as it has the bar next to it, as well as the market place and cafe.
The 2nd pool is across the lake which is a good sized pool an we did spend some time there. Then they have a little pool, which I did a couple of aqua classes there. Its not really a pool to swim in, more to cool off.
The only bug bear is the tv - there is no Direct TV that they have in other Marriotts, I really wanted to hve my fill of the rubbish tele shows but couldn;t find them so don't think they subscribe to those channels. The resort is very central for the parks and shopping. I can't fault it. One night there was a cockroach in the bathroom - we called reception and they sent someone up when we were out who sprayed stuff in the kitchen - not the bathroom, and we had food out, so felt that they did not listen. We were at the end of our holiday then so did not pursue it, at the beginning it would have really bothered us. Another night a gekko got in and we had a hard time trying to catch it and get it out!
Would recommend this lovely resort.
Big Pine Key and Siesta Key are newly refurbished - higher floors for the views
