I stayed 4 nights at this hotel last week while attending a conference in Orlando. I chose this hotel based on price and proximity to the conference site. My stay did not get off to a good start. I had been up since 3:00 a.m. in order to travel from Chicago and was really looking forward to a nap right after arriving at the hotel. I had been told check in time was 3:00 p.m. I arrived at the hotel, bone tired, at 3:15 p.m. and was told my room was not ready. I had to wait about 45 minutes until it was ready. The front desk staff was very nice and polite and said that the problem was that the hotel had been full the night before. I am not sure why that would be a problem with getting rooms ready. But anyway, the desk staff was friendly and helpful when I had questions during my stay. The hotel itself is old and shabby looking despite some remodeling. The corridor that I was in had an old, musty, smoky smell. My room did not have that smell, however. It was also shabby and dated but large and clean and the housekeeping staff did a good job cleaning my room each day. On Saturday, however, I came back to the hotel in mid afternoon after the conference had ended and my room had not been cleaned yet. I had to wait to have it cleaned. It seems that the hotel was not adequately staffed with housekeepers for a full census. The bed was super comfortable and I slept well all 4 nights. It was quiet, at least on my floor, even though the hotel was full. My room had a refrigerator but no microwave. A complimentary breakfast was available and was the usual eggs and sausage, biscuits and gravy, pasties, yogurt, etc. Nothing extraordinary but good. The breakfast area is large and well kept. There is a small outdoor pool and a small fitness room. I did not use either of these. The pool did not look too clean to me and I did not see anyone using it. During my stay, one of the 2 elevators broke down on Saturday and was still not working on Sunday when I checked out. This was a huge problem what with the hotel being full and the housekeeping staff trying to get their large carts up and down the floors. The neighborhood of the hotel was a little scary looking but the parking lots were well lit and I never really felt afraid coming in late at night after the conference. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again, but only if I got a very good rate compared to the other hotels in the area. Otherwise, I would go elsewhere.
