“Great stay at the Orlando Metro Express”

The Metropolitan Express Orlando

My family stayed at this hotel for three weeks in July/August 2008.
I thought it was a great hotel, very clean and overall we were very pleased.
We have two young children and they loved the small kiddies paddle pool. This pool is gated, which means you can relax on the sun loungers knowing your kids can't run off towards the main pool without having to open the gate.

Rooms were big and cleaned every day, breakfast buffet was great and the free tea and coffee in the lobby was great to return to after a long day at the parks.

Location is brilliant, Universal studios just five minutes away and Wet N Wild facing the hotel. Plenty of great resturants nearby, try the Shogun in the Rodeway Inn next door, great Tepenyaki food.....the kids will love it

Staff friendly enough and always willing to help with any problems you should encounter. Only one complaint with this hotel, there is no lift to the second floor so you will have to hand ball your luggage up a flight of stairs. There is also only one luggage trolley so you have to be lucky that no one is using it when you arrive.

Great hotel for the price, we have booked to stay there again in 2009.

“Best hotel”

We loved this hotel it was perfect! The room was lovely: it was clean, spacious, the bed was so comfortable, we were upgraded to a room with a fridge and microwave because of the slow season (hurrican season). The bed was so comfy and the breakfast was just what we wanted. Were not big eater but they had muffins, bagels, toast, cereals, juices etc. The staff was so friendly and our room was serviced everyday. The had a ticket desk at the reception which answered any questions about the area and the buses were great. They may not be the newest but the driver was really friendly and it got you to both disney and orlando very cheaply. (complimentary but is included in the resort fee. Also its directly across the street from wet n wild. Another helpful hint if your travelling with a small party is the lynx bus 42 which drops you off directly outside and leaves from the airport. Not mant people know about it, including staff in the hotel but we used it and its only $1.75 and is ok if you have minimal luggage (1 bag each). Also the I-trolley is outside the hotel and can take you all over i-drive. We had a great stay!

I know this is a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for but Met express took this a little too far. First of all if you're put in a room on the second floor there is no lift so you will have to carry your suitcases up the dirty stairs when you arrive and then back down when you're leaving. We did not know this and trust me it was not a pleasent suprise when we arrived to find this out... after hours of travelling from the UK via Detroit! The reception staff did not inform us that there was not a lift and on top of this the rooms we were given were miles away from the reception. After struggling to take the suitcases up the stairs we had to walk for about 5minutes through dirty corridors to get to our rooms, we also had to hold open three sets of doors as we walked to the room. Very awkward and annoying.

I found three insects silverfish type things one crawled into my suitcase, one on the dressing table and one in the bathroom, they were much bigger than your average and i was quite disgusted. There were also alot of lizards in the building i know its tropical Florida and these things cant be helped but the problem was the 2 inch gap at the bottom of the door, we had to keep a towel there to stop any from crawling in!

Dodgy pizza leaflets (at least 3 a night) were posted through the door, had a massive pile of them by the time we left, very annoying!

The lamps do not work and are very awkwardly positioned, as are the sockets. Hairdryer didn't work either.

We asked to be moved to other rooms and were told their were none available.

The hotel in general was dirty and smelt like it had never been cleaned.

On the plus side it was in a good location, and the continental breakfast was ok.

Just think hard before staying in this hotel. I recommend Best Western Movieland right next door, i just wish they had free rooms when we were booking. We stayed at Best western last time, but the Metropolitan express is not a hotel i will be telling people i stayed in... its just too embarrasing.

Good luck to anyone who stays here, you're gonna need it!

“Great Value - For the family”

The Metropolitan Express Orlando

Had a very pleasant experience for $45.00 per night. I was fortunate and I did not have to drive to the hotel. This location is on the busy section of International Drive. The good side of it's location is that it is walking distance to Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Wet & Wild, plenty of restaurants and adjacent to a mini - grocery store and a Dairy Queen. The bad side of it's location is the traffic is very slow and dense. It could take some time to travel up and down the strip.

If you are willing to take public transportation, I observed bus after bus going up and down the strip. I did not observe many people waiting very long at all to catch a bus. The hotel advertises a free shuttle to Disney Parks, so that is even a bigger plus.

The hotel offered a continental breakfast from 6:30 - 9:30 am, of which I did not participate, but it sounded good. Accross the street is an all you can eat breakfast buffet !

My room was at the rear of the property, which was adjacet to the highway, but I was not overwhelmed with any noice level. The hotel is older, but overall clean and much better than camping.

The pool area was nice and plenty of chairs to lounge with. The club house area had flat panel televisions mounted under a covered patio area next to the pool. The club house also had a small arcade.

For the money this was a pleasure to have the opportunity to stay somewhere clean. And do'nt forget Dairy Queen is in the same parking lot, adjacent to the hotel!

Dublin, Ireland

We stayed at this hotel a few times over the years and we find it clean, great Location and the staff are very helpful and friendly at the front desk.

We always stay in room 1116 or 1118 because it's away from the road.

We are looking forward to staying again for Xmas and New years.
