“The Metropolitan Express is a reasonably priced and good hotel”

This is now called the Metropolitan Express. We stayed here for a week just over a week ago.

Flew via Minneapolis to get to Orlando and due to technical delays missed our connection and had to stay a night in Minnesota. We phoned the hotel to tell them that we would be a day late and that we would be arriving in the morning so could they keep our room. The reply from the lady was 'of course' - the reality, very different.

When we arrived we were told that there was no room for us - ours had been sold last night and there was no record that we had ever phoned - not what you want to hear on a Friday morning when all hotels in the area would be fully booked. The man on reception was very apologetic and offered us what I can only describe as their stand-by room (it had to be as why else would he say that they were fully booked?).

The room was 1309. It was located by a door which leads to the pool and was very noisy - not only with the door shutting all through the day/night but with people congregating by the door and therefore outside our room before they went to the pool. One of the gates to the parking lot was attached to the outside wall to the room. It made a hell of a racket when shutting - physically woke me up at approx. 2.30am on the first night and every night after. Unfortunately we found this hotel to be noisy and on our last night were pleased to leave the next day as a group of young teenagers had just arrived and were having a party by the pool complete with drinks and loud music.....This hotel seemed to get a lot of coach parties in throughout in the week.

The room was clean enough and had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker but the safe did not work. The TV had a big stain on the screen and do not even think about lifting the non-slip mat in the bath - mould and brown stains underneath - took a shower rather than a bath everyday. The room had not been refurbished to the standard of the others which we could see through the windows with undrawn curtains around the pool. Those rooms looked really nice.

The pool was a fair size - put towels on the loungers before laying on them - several squirrels live around the pool and on more than one occasion we saw them weeing/pooing on top of the chairs......

Did not have the free breakfast so cannot really comment on it - saw that the room was very full one morning and decided against it but it looked as though it was a standard continental job - toast, tea/coffee, juice, crossaints etc.

There is free WiFi in reception and the parking is free. The location is great, but there is only one shuttle bus to Universal which leaves at 9.00am and returns at 7.20pm. There was no other choice but to book a taxi through the hotel - this cost us $10 - if you take a taxi back from Universal by going to the stand, it is $5.50.......You can walk if you feel so inclined - it is 1.3miles (as told to us by the taxi driver).

All in all it was a decent stay and there are certainly worse hotels than this. The staff were pleasant, it had good facilities and the cleanliness was to a reasonable level.

well stayed here from march 11th - march 18th, well actually i only ended up staying for a total of 3 nights, was over with my floridan girlfriend who is working in Qatar at the moment so she flew to london and we both flew out together for a week in FL, met all the family and friends had the best holiday of my life it was perfect. Right well back to the hotel, the room was fine, nice and clean a little dated but i didnt find it a problem in the slightest, the hallway carpet could do with a clean and the building as a whole could do with a lick of paint but apart from that it was just fine, i didnt get around to using the pool or trying there breakfast, i was not a tourist for that week well maybe one day at disney i was but the rest i felt like a typical american! drove down to tampa visited her dad for a couple of nights he lives in apollo beach, went to see her twin sisters softball tournanment, went to see the tampa bay lighting kick the new york rangers butts at ice hockey, went to parts of florida that tourists do not go to saw some real america, loved every minute of it. i would go back to this hotel found it fine

I visit Orlando often, as it is only 2 hours from where I live. I always stay on Internation Drive. I booked this hotel on Priceline as it was listed as a 2.5 star hotel. Usually, 2.5 star hotels are Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, or Amerisuites etc.). This hotel is a 2 star at best. The decor is old and the entire hotel has a damp odor. The wireless internet connection at the hotel is extremely slow (thats when it's working). Additionally, the hotel charges a $4.00 resort fee per stay. The only good thing I can really say about this hotel is that it is in a great location.

“We Will Never Stay Here Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The Metropolitan Express Orlando

This was our 8th vacation to Orlando and we always stay on International Drive. Don't ever stay in ROOM #1412. We complained 4 times to the front desk and we were told that our account would be noted and they would let the MANAGER know. Well it seems there is no MANAGER because we were never confronted by one. When you call the front desk after 6pm there is no manager on duty.

This hotel is in a good location. It is close to everything around and walking to shops was easy. But if you can afford a little more and want to have a decent nights sleep don't stay here.
When you open your room door there is this terrible smell and never went away. We had to keep the air on just to get by. Our toilet was always running so this was bothering. Our first night we went to bed we discovered chocolate marks on our blanket that was not cleaned off. It was USED by the previous occupants. EWHHHH!!! So we called down the front desk and they said they will let the manager know. They mentioned to us that all the rooms have just been renovated. Well our room was the only one that was old and had old brown furniture in it. Al the other rooms had new lamps and light colored furniture. The next day we returned about 9pm and discovered that this blanket was still there just flipped and turned around. We called back down and asked for a new blanket and we had to change our entire bed ourselves.
Another night my daughter left her ring pop on her bed and it left blue markets on the sheets. I figured that housekeeping would change the sheets. Well they didn't they came in and just tightened up the sheets. My husband called the front desk and asked if the beds get clean new sheets on them everyday and we were told yes. But they lied to us twice. The day before we left we walked into our room in the afternoon and housekeeping left cleaning supplies all over in our room and never cleaned the bathroom or gave us more toilet paper.
Don't use the tables out by the pool. They are always dirty. Oh one more thing. Make sure you get up before 9:00 or the breakfast area closes and you can't even get coffee. I found this out and located coffee in the lobby. I was standing there and an employee came up beside me and as I was fixing my coffee I felt her looking at me and as she was speaking with another person she said "I will when she moves". This was applied to me because I wasn't moving fast enough for her. I guess I was in her way.
So, I hope this helps you in anyway.
