We booked our 6 night stay at the Embassy suites on International Drive thru expedia.ca therefore we never really know what your getting into until its too late.
We arrived about 9 PM on Sunday night after a long drawn out flight from San Juan PR to Orlando. The room was ready on the 3rd floor,,right accross from the elevator as well, rom 303! The curtains inside the room do not close all the way to the door so theres about a 7" gap on either side so that people caould see in the room when they walk along the hallway.
Anyway at first glance the room was clean and we were so tired so we hit the sack right away. Breakfast in the AM is acceptable for a Hotel breakie,,,more cafeteria style but it did the trick. Eat beofre 7 30 AM or be inundated with kids and pushy people who think that theres no tomorrow for food! unbelievable rudeness in some people!
When we went back to the room, refreshed and more aware,,we noticed there was a wine glass that had been put behind the end table and appeared to have been there for some time as there was mold on the rim and on the wine left in it. By the way the dust behind the table on the floor was a 1/2 " thick... no lie!
We decided to leave the glass and see if the room attendents picked it up,,,,,we left on Saturday morning and it was still there......we are going to start a blog on the internet to see if anyone else that stays in this room finds the same glass stilll there,,,it should make for some interesting blogging!
We had no toliet paper for one whole day,,,we asked repeatedly and finally after one of us going to the desk with the empty roll got some action from a snotty young girl, who if she worked for my company would be fired in a second. We then soon found out that your room isn't cleaned until 4 PM ish,,,thats great when you come back from a day out and want to chill to sit around while you get your room cleaned or go back out and come back later! unreal!
We travel extensivley and have stayed at many hotel guest houses condo's all over the world, so we are not your average complainers,,,but the dirt in this room was so bad. We pulled the mattress back because it smelled so bad in the bedroom...there was so much hair and dirt behind there,,,it had never been vacummed for years I am sure. We left a note to the room attendent to please clean this up...it never got some and the sheets we requested be changed also never got done!
On the 2nd to last night there...my wife woke up being eaten alive,,,we thought it might have been no see'ums getting in the open window. There was tiny blood spots where her legs were, from bites obviously,,,so we tore the bed apart looking for bed bugs..
After doing some research on the internet, which by the way wasn't free,,,an outragoue 9.95 US a day for that is a joke!, the smeel we thought was dirt could have been caused by bed bugs. On the morning we left ( 2 30 AM) early flight,,I awoke with bites to my side,,maybe 6 large whelts. We attribute it to who knows what,,,,
We are home now and will keep this updated if we find out it was indeed bed bugs this hotel should be sued! It takes a week we found out to see if they travelled home with you...
I have never stayed in such a dirty room,,,Hilton should be red faced.....this Hotel has great potential,,,,,but it all comes from the top as you know,,,likely bad management and it all comes down the pipe!
I will do more reserach next time I book rooms on expedia for sure. As for the Embassy Suites on International Drive....we'l make sure to give it a wide berth and never stay there again.
