“Sad & Tired Rooms in Great Location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

A total makeover is overdue. Cosmetic needs include paint and carpeting. I hope that will help the damp, musty smell. The gout in the bathroom has mildew. Fortunately we did not spend that much time in the room. Price was too high for what we got - $200+per night. The breakfast was just okay. It was nice to have that included but the quality was not up to Embassy Suite standards.
Pros-
Parking was free.
Across the street were some great restaurant choices.
Hotel conveniently located to attractions.

Let's get this straight - this is not a 5* super deluxe property. It is a reasonably comfortable hotel in Orlando that perhaps needs a little TLC in places. You're not going to get 3* Michelin food for breakfast at the buffet, what is there is good enough.

The downsides have been mentioned - the drapes do not cover the windows fully/easily at the front and it's easy to peek around the edges. I always travel with Duck tape and this solves the problem. The room decor could do with an upgrade and the sofa-bed was not the best in the world for comfort. Luckily my kids were worn out from the parks. Food in the in-house restaurant is not that good.

The good - early start at breakfast is easy and gets you out for the Parks in good time. Rent a car - do not rely on shuttle busses - they will eat into your valuable vacation time.

The pools are good, but unsupervised, so beware of rowdy kids.

Free booze at the Manager's reception - what can be wrong with that? Have an early start then head back for drinks while the crowds get wet in the storms. Then out to eat - plenty of places a simple stroll away.

All in all a good stop for a family vacation - good to have the extra space to park the kids and a room for the parents.

My whole family stayed at this hotel over Easter. It was not of the standard one would expect for a busy period and hotel in international drive. Three out of the four lifts were actually working; the swimming pool needed a vacuum to clean it as you could see the dirt collected on the bottom. The sauna was never hot as the door didnt close properly, and no water to throw on the coals. Guests tended to form two lines at the breakfast grill which was not marked what you could obtain from each queue, also there was a long wait for cutlery and trays.. The staff are not motivated in collecting breakfast trays, so it was difficult every morning to find a place to sit, a self service disposal of trays area would suffice as there was not sufficient staff. The room furniture was out of date, heavy and dark and signs of treated woodworm, blistering paint on the bathroom door. Maintenance needs to check the room equipment: coffee machine had to be changed twice and the fridge door wouldnt open easily. Also, the noise level of slamming doors in the night was intolerable.
The only good points were comfortable beds and the free drinks at the bar at certain times in the evening but even then not enough staff on the bar.
Reception staff and hotel shuttle service staff were polite and helpful..

Room Tip: Rooms off international drive entrance might be an advantage.

This is a good hotel on International Drive near many restaurants. The service was Excellent especially the young man at the front desk, I'm sorry I did not get his name but he is there most of the day Saturday and Monday. The room was very quiet and clean. Breakfast was very good. We plan on returning.

The hotel is in a great location on International Drive and walking distance to attractions such as Wonder Works, Pirate Cove miniature golf, and the Ice Bar. This Embassy Suites also offers a free shuttle to them parks and a great breakfast each morning. I enjoyed my visit and will certainly be back.

The last couple of reviews of this hotel are simply not true. This is an older hotel, but it is well kept, clean and the service is excellent. We did not hear a sound as we were trying to go to sleep
Very good location. good food in the restaurant, as well as the wonderful breakfast. Superb place to stay.
