I could not ask for anything better...I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, the Swan and several other major hotels off of the Disney property...however, this is my favorite! Here are the reasons to make this simple--
--Everyone is wonderful, friendly and what you expect from Disney as far as the staff members....even the guests who are your neighbors are so friendly! One neighbor was leaving and gave us a brand new bag of charcoal and a ton of fresh veggies b/c they said they brought too much food.
--The rooms are LARGE...I suggest you bring friends, or family members since you can actually fit four in a bedroom...there is a queen size Murphy bed in the living room and you can also bring blow-up mattresses for others...
--I own a very large cleaning business in South Florida...and I know what to look at when I go to restaurants, hotels etc...I could not find one speck of dust, spider web or bugs anywhere in the cabin...it was so clean you could eat off of the floors...everything also looked new and up to date with no funky smells you would expect from a 'cabin' or something located out in the woods.
--Instead of paying Disney high food prices...bring your own food...this place is equipped with a massive fridge and freezer...stove, oven, toaster, microwave and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, etc to have a family Turkey dinner!
--Pleasant deck porch with a charcoal grill...You are restricted as far as fire pits...however, we brought some charcoal and also some small fire wood chips that you can buy at Bass Pro Shops or your local store to make a nice little fire...I also suggest to bring some small folding chairs to sit around the fire...and marshmellows with sticks for the sweet tooth people at night.
--If you like peace and quiet...this is the place...No screaming kids or loud music blaring...just birds and crickets singing...However, I did see many people with small children, yet, this place is so large...you have a lot of privacy.
--I HIGHLY recommend a GOLF CART! I met several people who did not get one...in order to really have fun...the golf cart runs less than sixty dollars a day...and is well worth it...you can park your one vehicle at your cabin, however, it is very restricted where you can take it. For example, if you would like to go to the boat launching pad to take you to Disney Magic Kingdom or one of the campground eatries, you need to walk or take a bus...and trust me, after a day of walking around the parks , you will be very happy you rented the Golf Cart!
--I had the dining plan and we wanted to have lunch rather than cooking...the two outposts had deli meats, bread, etc, however, I really wanted something hot and home-made...The restaurant was closed for lunch and did not open until 5pm...we took the boat from the marina launching pad and took a five minute trip to Disney Wildnerness Lodge across the lake...their restaurant is open all day...they have sit down lunch and for quick service (downstairs) a ton of selections both hot and cold food that is very good and cheap!
If you drink, it is very romantic to get two paper cups or glasses and sip a glass of wine or champagne at night while you are taking a leisure boat ride across from the camp ground...the night water parade is beautiful and this is very very nice if you are with the right person. The beach at the campground is generally very private and has white sand to sit on and plenty of chairs to gaze at the moon and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
--Horse back riding, movies by the campfire, several large pools for kids, boating...so much to do!
--There is a marina that is so romantic at night with the spanish moss on the trees...the music in the back ground playing some twangy blue grass of a banjo...and the smell of burning wood and or a yummy bbq in the back ground...
--We attended the Hoop DEE DOO Musical Review...this came with our dining plan, but, it is suggested that you make reservations specially if you are visiting on the weekends...The musical was great for adults and kids...teens may think it is a little corny though...yet, for the cost...around fifty dollars per person...This included all you can eat melting off the bone smoked bbq ribs, delicious moist fried chicken, home-made mashed potato and other fixens...not to mention, all you can eat salad...You didnt even have to ask for seconds...the great server just kept bringing us food until we told him we were so full! Not to mention, the delicious home-made fresh strawberry cream short cake...And for the adults...my favorite...All you can drink beer and wine!!! This was so worth the fifty dollars...sorry, no to-go plates or doggy bags though!
--In esssence, the cabins may be a little pricey compared to places like Port Orleans, etc...however, if you have another couple or some friends to share the costs...this is the best way to go!
I will be going back soon and counting the days!
I hope this reveiw helps!
