We stayed in this hotel from the 3rd to the 12th of May 2005 with a large group of friends. The accommodation was booked through a friend and we payed something in the region of $560 for the 10 nights for the room on a bed and breakfast basis which was just fantastic. We were not expecting much from the hotel because of the cheap rate!!! However the hotel was just fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were clean and had everything you needed in them. The breakfast was more than satisfactory with loads of selcetion. The hotel also offers 24 hour coffee and tea which was a bonus when coming in from the bars!!! The pool was another added bonus and while we were there the weather was fantastic!!! Universal Studios is a ten minute walk away but probably the best feature is the fact that on your doorstep you have a great bar called the Orlando Steakhouse offering food and drink. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to all kinds of travellers from familys to couples to groups of friends. We will be back!!! And thank you to the hotel for making our trip so great!!!

As a flight attendant and a budget traveler I have seen some very primitive accomadations throughout my travels. This hotel is disgusting. The carpeting in the hallway to the rooms had a variety of black tar stains and the hotel smelled of mold and smoke. Our room was very basic and although it was "non-smoking" did have a faint smell of smoke as if it once was a smoking room. Everything in the room is as basic as you can be. The hotel bed was absolutely the hardest bed I've ever slept on. Even beds in rustic hotels in Central America were softer than this bed.
But the most important problem with this hotel is that it has bedbugs! I am an expert at inspecting my sheets before I sleep on them in a hotel. These sheets looked fine but the next morning my boyfriend and I had bugbites on our feet. Little small bumps that itch.
The complimentry breakfast was fair but they don't offer much variety. Just toast, bagels, crereal, and muffins. The only thing that was decent in the hotel was a close distance to Universal theme parks.
I paid just under $100 per night for my room and it was absolutely not worth it. My advice is to pick other hotels near the Universal property because any hotel has to be better than this one.
Trust me! Happy Travels!

I stay at this property from November 26-29,2003 over Thanksgiving. A very clean and friendly property. Great rates and good service. Universal Studios is about a 20 min walk but a cab ride only costs about $5 one way. Easy access to I-Trolley which can be taken all the way down to Seaworld for less than a $1 each way. Nice and quite location but within a reasonable drive or walk of the attractions. I'll be staying here again soon.

My Dad and I stayed here from January 17-20 after booking a $49 rate directly through the hotel website. The front desk was efficient if not enthusiastic. Our room was spotless! For those of you with a lot of health and beauty aids, you will be pleased by the generous amount of sink counter space. The shower head options were nice too. The TV had more choices than at any other hotel I've stayed. Housekeeping was friendly and accomodating too. One morning, we left a $2 tip and a request for extra pillows; the pillows were there when we returned later in the afternoon. The continental breakfast seemed okay but we opted for the I-Drive buffets. If you're a first-time Orlando visitor, don't let the "guest services" person talk you into attending a timeshare presentation in exchange for cash or reduced tickets.

There are restaurants for budgets small (Burger King, Wendy's) or moderate (Carraba's Italian Grill, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse) that are a short walking distance from the hotel. One downside is it's not a convenient walk to Universal Studios or the International Drive attractions; that is, unless you would enjoy a brisk 30-40 minute trek through that includes jogging across wide streets with short pedestrian signals. Neither the Lynx buses nor the I-Drive Trolley seemed to head down to the main attractions. Also, the hotel is a bit set back from the road. You will have to turn into the Fairfield Inn then drive through their lot until you reach the Best Western.

All in all, it's a good value for what you get. Just don't forget your car... or else bring *very* comfortable shoes!

We stayed at the Best Western Universal for one night on November
18th. We paid $49 plus tax and were pleasantly surprised. It's a small
hotel - about 50 rooms, but is in a great location. The room was clean
and the hotel was quiet. On the morning we left I needed to get to a
Wachovia Bank - I knew there were a few in Orlando from past visits
but I wasn't exactly sure where the closest one was. I asked at the front desk and the clerk wasn't sure but she asked the assistant manager. The assistant manager said she would show us the way there if we followed her. Once we arrived at the bank she asked if we
knew how to get where we needed to go from there - which I did. I
thought she went way beyond good customer service and wrote to
Best Western about her. I usually stay on-site at Disney - which we
did for the next 4 days, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
