“Quality food and service”

Tommy Bahama's Tropical Cafe

Jul 21, 2008

Really enjoyed our meal here - the chowder was delicious and the pork with cherries a bit out of the ordinary. Other dishes went down well too, though what is it with these places and the dessert size - a bit ridiculous being able to feed 4 from one dessert!

The waitress was the best we came acoss during our stay - just the right amount of attention without putting on any pressure or disappearing completely. It was also a great touch that the manager came over to see if we were happy with our meal and service.

The atmosphere seemed a bit more classy than other places we ate. Maybe that was because it was more expensive, but at 25 - 30US$ per main course not outrageous compared to a meal out in the UK (and certainly a bargain compared with the Cattleman Steakhouse food, service and prices!).

The food was OK to good. The prices were a bit high, along with the drinks prices. It is one of those places were you been there, done that! Service was also on the slower side for not too many patrons in the resteraunt. If you don't go your not missing much!

We ate at Tommy Bahama's Tropical Cafe at Pointe Orlando last week. The complex is coming together nicely but the parking is hazardous just getting past the many valets moving cars too quickly in a parking garage. The food was good but expensive - a party of four having drinks, two appetizers , dinner and two desserts - with the bill including tax and tip topping $250. Table service was okay but the bar had trouble making a kir - seems like we really confused them with that request - and after 3 trys, they finally got it close but still not correct. We had a better meal and service at Roy's at Sand Pit Rd for less money - would hope that Tommy's picks up their diner's experience.

I largely despise chains... The food here; however, is on point. When a chain can maintain this level of excellence, it deserves respect.

Surprisingly great dinner at Tommy Bahama's. That is right, the same Tommy Bahama that makes the shirts, has unbelievable food! If you are local or just visiting, a great place to go.

My friends from the UK joined my husband and I at the Tommy Bahama Cafe on International Drive. We have gone there a few times for an appetizer and a glass of wine before we go to the movies but this was the first time we sat at a table and had a full dinner. Our server (Nichole) and the entire atmosphere and evening was just great. Each time we have gone, we have sat in the bar area and the service has really impressed us. Dinner was NO exception and Nichole was fantastic and went over and above with everything. Pointe Orlando has really turned the corner and is really a great place to go for food and fun. There are some good shops (more coming) nice restaurants, a movie theater and even a blues club. All of us enjoyed dinner, the steaks were good and fish incredible. The tuna tower and goat cheese appetizers are absolutely wonderful and alone are worth the trip!

After dinner we headed upstairs to B B Kings Blues club. I am not exactly sure why they call it a blues bar because if you are looking for blues you will be VERY disappointed. However, the band (Motown and a bit of Rock) was surprisingly talented and over all it was a fun environment. A good place to dance and have a drink just not a good place to hear the blues (unless it was just a Saturday night thing).

Tommy Bahama Cafe is open for lunch and dinner and of course always great shopping. It is a great place to just hang out and enjoy the relaxing surroundings accompanied with great food, drinks and service. They know how to do several things right!
