We used to go to Lee and Rick's all the time for the best raw oysters this side of Apalach. Then several years ago things started to go downhill. The place wasn't kept up, the bar was more chipped concrete than paint, restrooms were filthy and we just got the feeling the managers and servers were a bunch of crack heads. The last straw was when our server looked like he was overdosing/convulsing while he attempted to shuck our oysters. He would shuck a couple and then double over in pain; he got through maybe half a bucket then threw the rest in the trash and asked us if we wanted anything else. We didn't and we left; would've complained but the lady we assumed was the manager witnessed what was going on and disappeared into the back room. Fast forward a few years and after reading positive reviews on TA, we decided to give it another try...much improved... actually looked like there was a fresh coat of paint on the building and bar area, servers were mostly friendly and efficient as they could be considering shucking is labor intensive and they had a good sized lunchtime crowd. We went through a bucket of raw ones and a pound of steamed shrimp, all very good and really the only two menu items worth going here for. Lunchtime prices are a real deal; $5.95 dozens, $15.95 buckets and $2.50 Yeungling drafts can't be beat. Happy to see that one of our local favorites seems to be back on track; hope it stays that way.
