“Very well taken care of”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Our family of 4 stayed here for 8 nights, and everything was wonderful. The room was very nice, the kitchen was more than adequete. One of our party was disabled and we had no problem with access for her wheelchair. We did have a car, but also used the bus system, and had no problems with transportation. The only problem I can recall is that the person cleaning our room dumped the pot of coffee I was saving to drink later in the day, LOL.

The best thing about staying at Saratoga Springs was its proximity to Downtown Disney. You can easily walk there. There are two pools, the one by our room was fantastic and included a big play area for the kids with a cool slide and plenty of room for adults in the main pool area. There is a bar/grill there as well. They also had some activities, fun for all ages. Our room was nice but it was a little tough having 5 adults and 3 kids in a two bedroom suite. The kitchen was complete but TINY. The living area was small but the bedrooms were plenty big. One day our shower quit working and we had to make two calls to get it repaired but they did get it done within a few hours.

Room Tip: You will want a room close to the bus stop or you will be doing a lot of walking after a long day at...

Just for some background we've visited Disney 4 times, staying a week at Hilton Parc Soleil on one trip, at Saratoga Spring Resort (SSR) twice for a week, as well as a week at Villas at Wilderness Lodge (VWL), Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani (AKL), and Bay Lake Towers (BLT) at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The last two trips were two weeks (which is *so* much more relaxing that trying to cram WDW into a week BTW), so split between two resorts, one at MK and one away from MK. Having done this twice back to back, I can say that nothing beats the MK resorts for convenience. Everything is accessible by either boat, monorail (MK, MK resorts, Epcot, even Hollywood and Epcot resorts via boat from Epcot), or walking (in the case of BLT). You can go an entire week and never use a car, except to go to AK, and they are in the process of building new express bus terminal from MK to AK and Hollywood). It's just so much more relaxing -- you really feel like you are on vacation because you don't have to go out in the real world with traffic, parking lots, etc. That said, Saratoga, like all DVC resorts, has excellent accommodations, and excellent pools. The main pool has a water slide, kid play area consisting of jets that shoot out of the ground surrounding Donald Duck and a *full* bar and grill. The Paddock Pool has an even better kid play area with a wading pool and two small water slides, in addition to a water slide in the main pool. One downside to be aware of on the main pool, is you need a room key to get life jackets, so bring an extra one, or use a kids key, so you can still use your key at the bar (otherwise this is extremely annoying). At the Paddock Pool, they are free for the taking. The downside to the Paddock Pool, is the bar is limited to frozen margaritas and beer which is pretty lame, especially for parents wanted the resort experience. They really need to change this. I haven't visited the backstretch pool, but my understanding is it is just a standard pool, no slides or kids play area. As far as the rooms, the 1 bdrm was slightly smaller than the newer BLT and AKL rooms, and also only has 1 bathroom in the master which is an issue since 1 bdrms are really 2 bdrms for a family of 4 since you can use the separate living area and pull out bed as a room, so having 4 people needing to use the same restroom in the morning, before/after the pool, after the parks, etc is a little challenging. Again, BLT and AKL 1 bdrms both have 2 full baths in addition to the remaining areas being larger. All in all, Saratoga is really nice, but given our preference for MK resorts, we'll not be staying there again. It's VWL and BLT from here on out for us. If we do stay out of MK, we'ld much rather stay at AKL since the rooms are nicer, the feel much more relaxing like a vacation in and of itself, with the animals, restaurants, and it's proximity to AK, which is the only park no directly accessible from MK resorts. So, in summary Saratoga *is* great, but there are even better villa resorts at Disney. One minor note, you have to set your thermostat *at least* 2 degrees cooler than you want it because they have a 2 degree differential on the thermostat, so if you set it to 72 it will get up to 74 before kicking on. Also, it stays at 74 while you are gone, regardless of where you set it. Also, our unit had an incessant dripping noise behind the washer, which I finally figured out was coming from an air gap in the plumbing vent stack behind the washer (picture a drain pipe in the wall coming from the unit above you with a 2" gap cut into it, so water constantly drips from the pipe above to the pipe below -- *all* day and all night). It was weird, because there was nothing going into this drain (the washer was actually draining into a separate drain). I think it was just a code thing that they had to have an air gap in the vent stack, but I haven't seen this at any of the other resorts. After seeing this, there would have been nothing maintenance could have done about it other than put a towel or something in there to soften the drip noise. Anyways, minor annoyance, but probably pretty common if they have this design in all their rooms.

Room Tip: Request to be in the Paddocks, so you have the option of using the Paddock Pool or the main pool (wh...

first, the resort itself is very pretty, grounds well cared for. If you're here for a trip to downtown Disney or going off park, this could be the resort for you. The room was top of the line, not my fav colors but so what. 1435 Congress Park, 2 bedroom. Great view of Disney Marketplace. watched the volcano all night!
Lots of space, bigger than some of the Disney villas, not as spacious as Old Key west, but close. For those familiar, Kitchen is like boardwalk's counter up and eat- at counter down... table and chairs adjacent to kitchen. small couch, enough to sit and watch TV for 3 people, and one chair. More than 4 people have no way to sit and watch a movie together on a rainy day. sleeps 8 but really accommodates only 6 well, in my opinion. the living area is just too small and this seems to be a recurrent theme with the villas after the first 3 were built. this won't bother some, as they only sleep in the room. but for those of us eating sleeping and hanging out in the evenings together, its a Pain after day 3... so make plans to do other things until bedtime.
Water pressure in both spacious showers was excellent. The room was neat and pretty, and after we schlepped our luggage up from the car, without a cart, we settled in. We did call for help however, after three attempts of trying to get help from a polite person who didn't speak enough English to be answering a phone, we gave up and did it ourselves. Not happy.
This resort is huge, in fact if you can't get a room across or next to one of the pools, you probably will have a hard time. the main pool with the slide is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY up front , you'd have to drive to get there, and the whole thing is walking, walking, walking, and after a day or 5 walking the parks the last thing I want to do is come back to my hotel, and have to walk a block from my car or bus top to my room, change clothes, walk back down and across to the bus stop, and then go to the fun pool... or the hall, or whatever else there is because its really not on the map.
If we had been going to the parks I would have been furious, but, because of the prices, we opted for universal this time, better ticket deals. this hotel is easy to get out of WDW .
Why they have no boat over to the marketplace is just stupid if you ask me. so much easier, but there wasn't, so we just stayed at the hotel. Same with a swim, after hours of walking and sore feet, the pool with the slide was seriously far from our room, from any room really as it's off by check in , we would have had to get in the car and we'd had enough of all of that . Disappointing to say the least. there are a few small quiet pools here and there, but after checking ours out, we all decided it wasn't worth the effort and opted for a shower and soak in the HUGE spa tub. then we had dinner and watched a little TV before we headed to bed for a good rest....
the beds were HARD! so a good rest wasn't exactly what we had but all were so tired, we did sleep enough. New carpet not enough padding for me, but the windows had great room darkening curtains. nice balcony off the living room, but it takes brute strength to open the thing. no toddler could ever get that open.
Full Kitchen, washer and dryer all with easy instructions. the remote has instructions too, to make switching to the dvd player easy, even for me, and that's sayin' somethin'. all in all the resort room was up to Disney quality expected, its just too spread out with poor planning and skimping on the amenities. Won't stay here again, in fact it's my last choice. I walk enough in the parks.

Room Tip: only take a room towards the front of this mammoth place or you'll walk as far here as you do in...

We had a wonderful stay at this Disney Deluxe Villa. We chose a studio room for this trip which consisted of a King size bed and a queen size sofa sleeper with a balcony and kitchenette. We were assigned a room in The Paddock area, sort of midway between the two feature pools and the bus stops. The property is simply lovely - the landscaping is lush and the amenities are plentiful. The cast members were super friendly and happy, as we typically encounter on Disney property.

Room was good sized and absolutely immaculate.
Location in the Paddock worked for us - we didn't feel too far away from anything and we enjoyed being within walking distance to Downtown Disney.
Bus service to the parks was generally prompt and we never ever had to stand, despite the huge size of the resort.
Bedding and linens were soft and comfortable.
The room was well sound-proofed and we did not hear our neighbors. In fact, we weren't even sure if we had any neighbors at all, it was so quiet.
All fixtures, lights, and appliances were in like-new, working order.
Food options were delightful - we tried the quick-service restaurant as well as the full-service restaurant and both were wonderful.
The pools are simply lovely. Our son thoroughly enjoyed them.

Cons (Minor Issues):
The store is somewhat lacking in merchandise as well as food options. We have found the selection to be better at some of the other Deluxe Villa resorts.
Decor is very subtle for a Disney resort - lovely, but not highly themed in comparison to some of the other Disney resorts. This could be a huge plus to guests who want a break from Disney theming, however we prefer to be surrounded by more of the Disney magic.
If you don't like to walk and do not have access to a car, this may not be the resort for you. It is positively huge and we walked a great deal, since we did not have a car on this trip. If you have mobility issues, I recommend having a car. Parking is plentiful and very close to your villa.
Our view was disappointing. There are many many villas with lovely views of the fountains or the golf course or Downtown Disney, however we received a room with a view of the parking lot and a road. Certainly not a deal-breaker, but if this is important to you, you may want to specify this at check-in.

In conclusion we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book another stay at Saratoga Springs. It is peaceful, relaxing and simply beautiful.

Room Tip: Be aware that many villas require a good deal of walking - be very specific if you need something cl...

Disney has replaced the doors with new ones that do not work. They are not working all over the property. It took me an hour to get someone to let me in my room tonight. None of our keys worked. The manager could not be found. My keys still do not work. I would like to go to sleep in this room for which I paid a fortune; however someone has to go to get a computer to see if they can fix my door so that the keys will work tomorrow as we would like to leave the room and go to the park for which we also paid a fortune for tickets. BUT we can't leave the room if we will not be able to get back in. We will not be doing this again. Hello Universal!

Room Tip: Do not stay at Saratoga Springs.

We just got back from a 5 night stay in a 2 bedroom villa. We are not DVC members. We just got a good deal with a 30% off sale and thought it would be nice to have our family of 7 in one villa instead of 2 separate rooms in a different resort.

The resort itself is very large. It is very beautiful as well. We stayed in the Paddock area and it was great. We were in room 5521 and very close to the pool. Our boys (3 & 6) loved the splash area, and my 3 year old especially loved the 2 small water slides he could do by himself.

Our villa was great. There was plenty of room for 5 adults and 2 kids. My brother stayed on the pullout couch and said it was fairly comfortable. He said it wasn't the best, but fine for his needs. The 2 bathrooms were nice with so many people. We were all able to get showered and dressed in a timely manner. The beds were comfortable, but I didn't like the pillows. I appreciated that they had a bed rail we could put on one side of the bed with the kids so our 3 year old wouldn't fall out of bed. We had only 2 issues with the room. #1: The temperature. I'm not sure if it wasn't working properly or what, but it was either freezing or hot. There was too much play when only changing it by one degree. #2: The cabinet door in the master bedroom was off its hinges.

Food: Not bad, not the best. We dined at the paddock pool and the Artist's Pallet. Both were nice places, but just ok. Since the villa had a kitchen, we got groceries and ate a lot in our room.

Buses: Buses were not the best. There was a long wait and by the time they got to our pickup, they were very full. We ended up standing a lot - which seems weird that they can let a 3 year old stand in a bus, but needs a 5-point harness carseat in a regular car. Hmmm

Front desk: This is where I have to drop from 5 stars to 4. Check in took 45 min and then, they really messed up with our tickets. We asked to add park hoppers, and it was a mess. They over charged us, charged us several times, and in the end still overcharged us. Also, each adult put a different credit card to be associated with their room key, so each charge could be separate. Well, that messed up too, and we got ALL the charges on our credit card since we were the primary reservation holder. They did clear it up after over an hour of standing there and separating each charge. It was a good thing we stopped by to check our balance and got it all straightened out before our departure. When we got home, we noticed the park hopper mess up was still wrong, and after calling guest services, we should have a credit coming for the over charge in 5-7 days, so I guess we will see. I would have liked to have a little compensation for all the mess up they did with our bill, but all we got was "we're sorry". Oh well. We still had a nice time and hopefully did get everything taken care of.

Would I stay at this resort again - yes, but since there are so many resorts at Disney World, I might try staying somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Rooms by Paddock area pool are good for small kids because of the splash area.
