“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

This hotel is great! It's clean, convenient and all the staff are very helpful! It's next to the outlet mall! It's also close to the parks, Dining an other attractions! We had the full kitchen which also comes with a washer/dryer, great when you have kids!
I have nothing negative to say!

My wife and I wanted a quick five day visit to Disney World in October but found no vacancies at any of the property's hotels (What recession?). Doing a web search brought up tens and tens of hotels in the Orlando area, but how to pick a great one? With help from AAA (and already being a Hilton Honors member) we booked at Hilton Grand Vacations Club on International Drive. Prior to going we had concerns about distance from the parks, local traffic, and missing Disney's free transit system.

NO problem! The Hilton experience was a 9 out of 10. For $134 per night we got a one bedroom suite with full kitchen, living room, whirlpool in the bedroom, two TVs, and a screened veranda on the 4th floor with a killer view overlooking the complex's beautiful lake. The campus contains six 4/5 story buildings, a walking path round the lake, two pools, three outdoor whirlpools, fitness room, clubhouse with daily scheduled social and fitness activities, a restaurant, pizza shop, and so on. The compex is secure gated with ample parking (we didn't have any parking issues as some TripAdvisor reviewers have mentioned). If you wish a bigger spread go for the two bedroom choices. This is a campus you need not leave to enjoy your vacation.

This Hilton happens to be a time share, but owners not choosing to use their week(s) arrange with management to offer their units as hotel rooms. Due to its nature, on check-in you will be asked if interested in attending a time-share pitch for Hilton properties in the Orlando area. We declined and were honestly not subjected to any pressure whatsoever. However, if we did decide to attend there are incentives to sitting thru a 1.5 hour tour and talk: 20,000 Hilton points...AMEX certificate for $100...Macy's coupon for $100...discounted theme park tickets. For some this would be a great choice but we suspect you would feel buying pressure, like any time share pitch.

Location of the property is a ten minute drive to Disney, following the "back no traffic way" recommended by the front desk (no I-4). Sure you may have to pay $14 per car for daily Disney parking but compared to staying at onsite Disney $$$$ properties this is minor. Hotel location is also physically next to the Orlando Outlets, a quite large grouping of somewhat upscale names, but great to window shop. Lots of restaurants in the area, all with Happy Hours and good pricing.

This is one of the very best values we've experienced in our lifetime of travels. You won't be disppointed with this out-of-the-box choice.

Room Tip: For the view ask for a high floor. Avoid corner rooms if you can as the views are less great.

We asked for a quiet room and ended up on the first floor of building 5, which is at the back of the complex. We understood that there were other families there - like the one with the crying baby next door and the one with the kids running a marathon upstairs (they stopped when I called and asked them too). We received no warning about the vacuum truck that spends 45 minutes each morning AT 5 AM cleaning the parking garage for the neighboring outlet mall. Sounded like a tornado warning or air raid siren. We were told we could not relocate the first time we complained because there were no rooms available. We couldn't believe that it happened a second night in a row. At checkout, we were told by the manager they were sorry but since it wasn't on their property there was nothing they could OR WOULD do for us. The manager sounded surprised about the noise and claimed that this was the quietest building. He also blamed security on the overnight shift for not communicating this to the day shift. Also, the toilet kept getting backed up, the shower dripped all the time and only one remote control for two TVs. As timeshares, Hilton makes over $1,000,000 per unit and over $50,000 per year in management fees. You'd think they could do better. I was disappointed in the lack of customer service and refusal to accept any responsibility.

The 2 bedroom condo was lovely with enclosed lanai overlooking the lake. The pool and hot tubs were nice with plenty of activities. I loved the pool bar which had moderate priced food menu. We enjoyed playing ping pong by the pool. The game room had two free pool tables and assorted pay for video games. One night they had karoke singing by the pool. They have a Starbucks and Ice Cream stand. However, they close the pool and bar at 11:00 pm. Wish they could keep it open, everyone seems to enjoy the bar and watching sports on the TV's. Location is good but traffic can be very slow getting to Disney. It would have been nice if the hotel had shuttle service. Then we could have enjoyed the bars at Downtown Disney. I highly recommend going there. On a Saturday night they had many street performers, and many dining and drinking choices, it was wonderful!

I stayed here with my husband for three nights. Those days were amazing!!!! The resort is really wonderful, huge, clean, comfortable, etc. The front desk staff were very helpful and polite, wherever you were in the resort and met people from the staff, they were really polite and nice.
We had a studio room, and it was very clean, comfortable, totally equipped with a small kitchen, fridge, free wifi connection, etc. The balcony was perfect to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. We had a wonderful pool and lake view. Very relaxing.
A lot of place to park. Just few steps from our building (Villa Di Tomaso) we had the entrance to the Orlando Premium Outlet. You need your room key to enter to the resort so it is very safe. The resort had a wonderful bridge over the lake with beautiful flowers and benches to sit down and relax.
There are a Publix and Walgreens just opposite the resort, which is very convenient to buy your groceries, prepare your own meals and enjoy them in the balcony.
The pools are nice, especially the huge one, there are always towels available near the pools. I really found this resort amazing. It is totally recomendable and for sure I will go back next year on my vacations.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor with the lake view.

I booked this property for a 4 night stay in early Oct. prior to picking up a cruise in nearby Fort Lauderdale. If you love shopping, ask for an apartment on the outlet side of the resort. You can access the shops via a locked gate using your room key. It was extremely convenient to be able to wash & dry clothes before taking the cruise. The only drawback is that the property is so expanse that you really do need a car to get around the area. The front desk will however collect you in a golf cart if you need to get to & from reception etc. There is also a trolley within walking distance that runs to the fun parks & the other shopping outlets. The apartment was clean & well equipped, & the only negative was missing light bulbs in lamps.
Great place if you want to self cater.

3 nights stay for Disney trip. The hotel looked nice but service and attention to detail were poor. You need to put the "Do not disturb" sign on at all times, if not, somebody will knock on your door at 9 in the morning for room cleaning. Our reservation included breakfast but the front desk said that we booked with a third party (which was hotels.com even though the front desk staff insisted was travelocity.com) and "even the owners need to buy their own breakfast" (which I didn't really understand why she mentioned the owners). Hotel pools were out of towels one evening. I called guest services about this and we waited for over 1 hour for a staff member to bring towels. AC in the bedroom and the bed itself were very noisy. In my opinion, this hotel gave me more the feeling of a service apartment than a hotel. No restaurant, no room service, just a small Starbucks and a pick-up pizza place. Positives include a nice location with a lot of close conveniences. Publix and Walgreens' are just right across the street.

Room Tip: Put Do not disturb sign on.
