Previously I had only good service and excellent food here, but my recent experience was not at all up to par. First, I ordered a $190.00 bottle of Reserve Merlot. I was shown a bottle of the correct vintner and it was Merlot, but I pointed out to them the bottle they showed was not the "Reserve"-a wine usually retail priced $150.00 less. The waiters hastily retreated, then came back and admitted that yes, they did not have the "reserve". I was offered a 10% discount on another poorer wine, which I turned down. Maybe an honest mistake?-NOT AT SHULA's.
A $41 lobster tail, obviously frozen for a long time and tasteless, was in on way comparable to the previous chilled 1/2 lobster which has disappeared from the menu.
The steaks were dry, tough, and difficulty to carve-I though my knife was dull. Even though mine was rare it took a lot of chewing to get through it. Sides were passible, but CRAB mac and cheese? Really, just because Capital Grille serves a delicious Lobster mac and cheese. The crab was overwhelmed by the cheese.
More annoying was the way a busboy kept rushing over to fill nearly full glasses of water at $7.00 a bottle, resulting in a $28 charge for plain water.
Sorry, Shula's, it appears you have gone the way of the Yachtsman Steakhouse-steal the money and to he__ with the quality.
