“Just what we expected - not disappointed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We were first timers to the Rose and Crown. My hubby suggested that he would like to try their fish and chips, but we always find it too busy to try. This time I made lunch reservations ahead of our trip. We dined here at noon (their earliest seating) on July 4th. It seemed as though people showing up without reservations that day for lunch were accomodated with a short wait, so it didn't appear to be super busy.

We were seated inside (not asked if we prefer in our out) but that was fine as hubby doesn't handle heat all that well. The seating is rather crowded, and we were almost intimate with the couple next to us. LOL

Hubby ordered the fish and chips (of course) and I let our waiter decide for me. He chose the cottage pie. By the way, our waiter was excellent. I wasn't disappointed with the cottage pie, and was happy the waiter made the right choice for me. I WOULD have been a little disappointed in the fish and chips because it would have been too greasy for ME. It had good flavor, but very oily for my taste.

We didn't get an appetizer or desert, so lunch with two sodas (free refills) was about $65 after tip. It's what we've come to expect with any Disney dining.

We enjoyed our lunch, would recommend it to others, and would return again except that there are too many other places to try next time.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

One of our favorite meals at Disney! We sat on the patio and had a great view of the lake. Our waiter, I think his name was Joey, was awesome--super friendly and on top of things! My husband had a "Golden Fox"--some sort of half and half beer blend, and loved it! For dinner we both had the steak and fish. It was all so good and the portions are just right, if not too much! For dessert I had the pound cake with fresh berries (something Mess) and my husband had the peach cheesecake--they were delicious! We loved the casual feel of the place and had some of the best seats you could ask for when the fireworks started! We will be back!

“Before you visit...what to know about the Rose and Crown”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

The Rose and Crown is the "signature" dining restaurant in the United Kingdom pavilion at Disney's Epcot.
By the way...in Disney speak, "signature" dining means any restaurant where you have a server/order from a menu, as opposed to "quick service" which means you collect your food cafeteria style and serve yourself or order at a counter. This is important if you are on the Dining Plan or...if you want to estimate the cost beforehand. Dinners for adults in a signature restaurant start at around $18 and only go up. This was no exception. Quick service is about half the price.

Most of the countries in Epcot have both quick service and signature dining options. All signature restaurants require reservations in advance or you will NOT be getting in.

Atmosphere:
The Rose and Crown is set-up in the style of a British pub. Very casual. This was our second visit and it was the same both times. Very crowded bar area, with happy drinkers packed into the tiny bar area, standing room only. There are tables inside and outside, along a deck that runs the length of the building. The inside tables are nicer, but it's pretty loud inside and the smell of beer, etc...from the bar area is strong.
Outside is more peaceful and you can enjoy a pretty view of the lake/park, but there's no air conditioning...so, something to think about.

Here's what I really don't like about the set-up... to reach the restroom from the dining area, you have to weave your way through the packed bar to the bathrooms in the back of the building. That's always a challenge. Very difficult to get small children through easily...would be nearly impossible with a stroller or wheelchair.

The service:
The servers are friendly and our food arrived in average time.

The food:
We ordered...
- cheese tray, as an app...very good, but small portion size.
-fish and chips...also good, portion size was fine.
-cottage pie...not good, plus really small portion size for the price.
-kids pasta...just terrible.

Value:
This was a pretty expensive meal and... considering the portion sizes, quality of the food and sweaty feel you get dining in the deck, i would definitely skip this place and choose another restaurant. There are a lot of great dining options in Epcot, but this isn't one of them. We had much better experiences dining in France, Japan and Italy.

“Authentic Pub Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

The Rose and Crown is a great pub experience. Based on three different English pub styles, city, country, and waterside, Disney has perfectly recreated the English pub experience. Must try food would be the Vegetable Pie, Curry Chicken, and a Cider and Black. The wait staff is wonderful.

“A Must Do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

First time to eat at Rose Crown & Pub and our family of 5 loved it! Great food, wonderful service, and we had a great view on the porch to watch Illuminations. We will definitely eat here again when we return in December 2014. Try the sirloin steak and a cold beer, great dinner!
