We visited Mama Melrose at Disneyworld's MGM in Sept 2007. We started early at the park that day and had 5:30 reservations. The park attendance was light that day with very little wait for any attractions.The restaurant is tucked in the back of the park, but still very busy. The dining room is much larger that is looks with a large room divided into many smaller areas to give the feel of a cafe. We arrived at Mama's about 4:30pm where we were greeted with a smile and seated in five minutes at a cozy table for two. Our waiter was wonderful. He was always smiling and super busy, but he always had time to fill our drinks or check on how our meal was going. On the dining plan, we ordered Bruschetta and tomatoes with Mozzarella cheese for appetizers. (picture attached) Both were excellent. Charred steak with mashed potatoes instead of polenta and Spaghetti fra Diavalo with only shrimp were ordered and both were delicious with large portions and cooked as ordered. Our waiter didn't even bat an eye, when we asked to change the side on the steak or leave out the clams, mussels & calamari in the spaghetti dish. Dessert consisted of Tiramisu and chocolate cake served with the best coffee in Disneyworld. Both excellent. A definite MUST GO

The Location of the restaurant in MGM is not the greatest. It is a long walk from most of the attractions (be sure to plan time to walk to the restaurant before your reservation) but the atmosphere is nice and "quaint". You feel as if you are in a small mom and pop restaurant. The food is decent. The prices are steep for what you get though. There are a lot of choices if you are a picky eater.

We booked a "dinner" for 2 people as part of the Fantasmic package. Called about a week in advance and the latest they had was a 3:30 pm.

The restaurant was really nothing special. Atmosphere was thrown together out of some Disney Imagineers idea of an Italian restaurant.
The food was the worst and most overpriced of our whole 8 day trip. I
had the steak, looked to be about 7 oz. My girlfriend had a pasta dish that tasted strangely similar to a can of Chef Boyardee. The bread sampler appetizer was a great sample of stale bread. The desserts looked and tasted like store bought treats.

This was nowhere near worth the $75 check. If you’re looking for a Fantasmic dinner package place, try another restaurant.

Ate here on May14th, 2007 with my husband, his brother, and his wife. Made reservations under the Disney Dining Plan. Reservation was for 7:00 pm and we were seated within about 10 minutes of that time. The atmosphere is nice. Much like an East Side Mario's. The menu was okay, not spectacular. Two of us ordered the steak and they said it was fine. One of us had the salmon which lacked in flavour. And another had the egglplant napolean which was good. But the food was not the issue. Neither was our server. She was a very pleasant woman and very attentive. The problem was with the service. After realizing that we had been sitting at our table for over an hour and had only been served appetizers, we asked our server about our meals. She kept saying they would be ready in a few minutes. We noticed the table beside us was a party of 10. They were seated just before us and had already finished their dessert! I suspect that our server forgot to put our order in, but no explanation was given. The manager offered to give us a Fastpass to any ride that evening. That would have been great, but at almost 9 o'clock at night, there really aren't any lineups anyways! At that point, we just wanted our meals so we could eat and leave. When dessert came, our server kindly packed them up for us so we could take them back to the resort. In fact, she gave us a piece of every dessert on their menu which was really nice. We would have considered this to be a great place with a decent menu and nice atmosphere, however, a 2 hour dinner is a little excessive for a theme park restaurant for a party of 4. If we were in the carribbean somewhere and had no sense of time it would have been fine.
