“Flying fish, Boardwalk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Champagne not too pricey. Starters had mussels & calamari to share between 3, more than enough. A steak dish & pork also. Red snapper enjoyed by hubby. The lights were flying fish overhead. The almond joy coffees were a perfect end to the meal.

“Great choice while at Disney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

This is a great restaurant compared to other dining options on the Disney campus. Overpriced for what you get, but that's not surprising at Disney. Excellent service by Tim, our professional and personable waiter. Promptly corrected a dish that had been over-cooked. Blood orange margarita was excellent!

“Had been one of our favorites but June 2013 visit was disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We've been to Flying Fish many, many times and have generally had wonderful experiences. However, our most recent visit was disappointing. The meal started well with yummy specialty cocktails and good appetizers. Our server was one who had waited on us before and was his usual charming self. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the portion size had returned to a decent size portion (on another recent trip the portion size had shrunk to a ridiculously small size for the price). The buffalo mozzarella salad with fresh tomato was very flavorful. Flying Fish still makes the best grilled chesse at Disney - a huge hit with the 6 year old. The downfall was the main course. My husband's pork was okay; not as flavorful or nicely cooked as usual. The scallops were a huge disappointment -- some were so undercooked that they were almost raw; others were burned on the outside. The worst part, however, was the accompanying risotto. I LOVE risotto and while a bit heavy as a side for scallops, it is normally so wonderfully done that I have ordered the Flying Fish scallop dish over and over again. That night's dish was billed as an "English pea risotto". I mistakenly thought it would be the usually flavorful risotto with a few English peas for color. Instead it appeared that a can of Gerber green peas had been dumped on the plate with some lumps of rice thrown in. Three of the five people at the table tasted it - once. All had the same "it tastes like baby food" reaction. We will try Flying Fish again at some point but after the truly phenomenal scallops served at Jiko on the same trip, it will be a while.

“2nd visit was as fantastic as the 1st!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

My husband & I resisted going to Flying Fish for years due to the price. Then on our last visit in 2011, we decided to let our daughter (12) and her friend order pizza on the Boardwalk while we had a dinner together. It was so worth the money. We sat at the bar and talked to the staff, which was fun and got some good recommendations. The food was marvelous. When we returned to Disney in 2013, we went to FF right away. It did not disappoint. I ordered the tuna, my husband ordered the snapper, and our daughter ordered the pasta with mushrooms and asparagus. Everything was very well prepared, presented, and flavorful. We all loved our food and may try to fit in another visit on this trip to try something else. Also, if you like cocktails, try the blood orange margarita - very good! The service was great as was the atmosphere. I probably would not take a small child here unless they are laid back and not prone to outbursts because it is a nicer restaurant with a lower noise level than most Disney restaurants. However, if you have an older child that appreciates good food, take them! If they are of the "burgers & fries" type, leave them at the pool or resort to eat junk food while the adults have a great meal.
