Description: Walk into Cariera’s by Castelli and you’ll immediately feel like part of the family. The dinning room creates a quaint, yet comfortable atmosphere for any occasion. If sitting at the bar or in the lounge is more your style, plan on being treated with true Italian hospitality. The full service bar features a variety of specialty liqueurs, ports, cognacs and an extensive wine list. Can’t decide? Have one of our cosmopolitans or a raspberry martini.Once comfortably seated, its your mind that must do the decision making. For starters, Cariera’s menu is loaded with different appetizers to choose from including Asiago Stuffed Shrimp, Fried Calamari, and Mussels Arrabiata. The menu also includes a variety of specialty Entrees such as Grilled Chicken Penne, Ravioli Di Mia Madre, and Chicken Cariera’s. Last but certainly not least, Cariera’s is known for a few delicious handmade desserts including Creme Brulee, Cannolis and Tiramisu. If entertainment is what you’re after, look no further. An eclectic mix of performers come to perform weekly. If you’re feeling like some fresh air, step outside onto the patio. Seating is limited, but the Cariera’s staff will make extra room just for you. And best of all, the patio is covered, so you can still dine outside during one of Central Florida’s famous summer showers. Life gets so hectic sometimes that many of us are unable to dine out, but rest assured, Cariera’s has take-out so that you can bring some of your favorite dishes home. For the past three years, Cariera’s Cucina Italiana has earned the honor of being the number one family restaurant by the Southwest Bulletin.

“Italian dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Went with family and sat outside. It was a gorgeous day. I hadnt been there before so dont know what it looked like prior to the change. Yes the inside had no ambience, but outside was fine. Our waiter was wonderful, new to the place and he did an excellent job.Everything we ordered was excellent. We had the liguine frutte di mare, veal dish, chicken caprese and flat bread margharita pizza. Their rolls were delcious. No slacking on their cocktails. Would go back again

“Not really a fan of the "new" Carieras”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I used to love Carieras - the family atmosphere, the pictures of customers on the walls, great pizza and pasta. Alas, that Carieras is no more.

The new Carieras has a rehabbed interior, with none of the warmth that made the old restaurant special. The service is okay, maybe a bit too eager to please, given that I constantly was asked how things were - sort of hard to respond while chewing! Food was okay - I had a grilled chicken breast with roasted veg - good but not great. Wine was okay but overpriced. They did have live music the night we went - a solo sax player doing "smooth" jazz - nice but a bit loud for the space.

Would I go back? Hard to say - it is not a bad restaurant, but it has lost something in the transition. I will probably return just to see if things change.

“growing pains”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

i used to love it when it was plain old Careiras. now it is owned by a Brasilian group. i was disappointed the last time there when the calamaria came out cold and uncooked still partially frozen. made me question quality control here. but they fixed it. i just know from personal experience that Brasilian Italian is not the same as Italian Italian. there are other Italian restaurants close by that are more to my liking at this point.

“Excellent choice! The food was amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We had the opportunity to enjoy a meal here late October, 2012. We were weary after realizing we could not get home to Phila due to Hurricane Sandy. We needed comfort food. I searched TripAdvisor and based on the reviews, decided to give it a try. We were so pleased with the choice. We were late on a Monday night and were the only people in the place so needless to say the service was incredible. It looked like a place I would enjoy even if it were crowded. The food was impeccable! This is real Italian! Each person in our party was very pleased with their chosen entree. AMAZING! I enjoyed the Rigatone Farciti - rigatoni stuffed with veal, covered with meat sauce and cheese. If you're looking for a great, traditional Italian meal, this is the place to go!

“New owners, same delicious food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My husband and I enjoyed a very good meal here last week. The restaurant has been sold and the new owners have kept the same menu and chef per our waiter/manager. They recently took down all of the pictures off the walls and painted everything white. It is a bit stark and cold when you walk in but, again per the staff, they are going to be doing some remodeling and decorating in the near future. Now to the food, my favorite is the rigatoni farciti, rigatoni stuffed with ground veal, served with a meat sauce and baked with cheese on top, delicious. My husband had the chicken marsala and it was very good. Love the garlic knots(bread) served with the meal. Look forward to going back and seeing what they have done with the decor and of course enjoy another meal.
