“Fabulous food, drink and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013 via mobile

We had a booking for 9.30 (fireworks time) and arrived 20 mins early. Very busy but very relaxed bar area. We got a drink and watchd the fireworks from the balcony outside as table service and dinning stops for the fireworks. Once they were over and the tables cleared we were seated for 10pm. If you have plans for later let the waitress know and they will do their best to accomodate you. Our daughter was meeting us in reception so we were on a schedule but not rushing.

Unless you are a high roller or enjoy looking at expensive world wines don't look at the big wine list. Other wines by the glass or bottle are on the main menu. I can recommend the Rioja, almost chewable.

The food is wonderful and save room for dessert. Our waitress couldn't be more helpful and if you want to take the Mickey table sparkles just tell her :-)

All in all five star. Only minor comment would be slow bar staff but hey it's only their second day open.

“Eager to See the New Makeover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The staff was gracious from the time we arrived, sat in the bar & throughout our meal. It goes without saying the food was delicious from start to finish. Since we were on the Disney Dining Plan, and not big dessert people, it was a treat to see the Cheese Board listed under the dessert section. Each selection of cheese was paired with a different morsel of food, an almond, a bit of honeycomb, a candied fig, etc. But the best part was when our waitress found out we were checking out the culinary institute on this trip, moments later Chef Brian Piasecki appeared at our table. He talked to my son about his plans and gave him his card to call when he could be of some assistance. The night was made even more special by a view of the Magic Kingdom castle fireworks.

“Overratted”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

I feel this restaurant is overrated. The portions are very small. The best part of this restaurant is the Fireworks display. If you have the Disney dining plan it counts as 2 meals. It is very expensive. It is okay to try once but I would not do it again.

“My favorite place to eat at Disney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

My husband and I loved the California Grill. We were on our honeymoon, and most other places we went barely (if at all) acknowledged our newly-married status, but here we were offered complimentary champagne, had confetti sprinkled on our table, and got a "congratulations" dessert. They made us feel like we truly were celebrating something special, as opposed to just on a random trip to Disney.

Definitely, definitely try to book your reservations so that you will be there when they have the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. You can go outside onto the deck to watch them, and that was the best part of the night. Even so, we still would have enjoyed the restaurant without it. The food was excellent- very flavorful, and was cooked perfectly. The service was also wonderful- from when you check in and they bring you up the elevator, to when you leave. Waitstaff stuck the right balance between being attentive enough but not bothersome.

We had the meal plan, so we didn't break the bank, but it's rather pricey if you don't. If we ever go back, though, we'd go again even without it, because it would have been worth the cost.
