My husband and I each ordered a soup and an appetizer and they brought out all four at once. Then our entree's came out before we were even done with our appetizers. We had been at our table for about 15-20 minutes at most when our entrees were brought to us. I've never been so rushed through a meal in my life. The wait staff was inexperienced and had an attitude like they would rather be... any where else but there. To top it all off the food was not good. It wasn't BAD, but it was not good. Emeril really should be embarrassed to have his name on the place.

My daughter and I ate here in October 2006 and had an incredible experience! The food was awesome, the decor was great and our service was excellent! I had the Tchoup Chop Moo Shu Style Vegetable Plate - enough to make a meat eater convert to being a vegetarian! Flavorful, nicely presented, and more than enough to satisfy the largest appetite.

We dined at Tchoup Chop about 3 years ago and were looking forward to our next dining experience. We were disappointed.

I ordered the crab cake appetizer as a starter. It was not the best I have had. The crab was not lumb crab but more of a shredded creamy consistency. The flavor was average. For the main course I ordered the Hawaiian Plate. It consisted of smoked ribs, grilled chicken, saute'd noodles with vegetables and brocolli with bacon. The protions were fair. The flavor was too overpowering. Everything on the plate was very sweet and very salty. It all had the same taste. There was nothing to neutralize the palette. After a few bites you wanted to just munch on a plain piece of bread or something. The ribs were definitely the best part of the meal. Unfortunately they were just 4 tiny ones on the plate. The other plates order were the chicken salad (fair-small portion), the calamari (good-big portion), and pork loco moco (fair-too salty). The best food we were served were the fried rice thingys with the peanut sauce.

The overall dining experince was fair. Definitely not what we were anticipating. The food was definitely much better the last time we were there. However, you can't beat the atmosphere. The place is simply breathtaking!
Will we go again? No.

My husband and I recently dined at Tchop chop on Saturday Sept 2nd. We were in Orlando for Labor Day weekend, enjoying time at Universal Orlando.

We had been to NOLA before and had a wonderful experience, this was no different. The service was excellent. Our waiter was Chris and he was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as highlights of the area. It was very busy at the dinner service, but he still took the time to chat us up.

We had the eggrolls for the appetiser. Not very large but very tasty. We also had an abundance of complimentary shrimp chips brought to the table. I chose the NY Strip and my husband went with the hawaiian platter. Both were excellent choices. My steak was very lean and well prepared. The hawaiian platter had many choices and I was able to sample some of my husband meal...another good choice.

We ended the evening with the bananna cream pie and the coconut creme brulee. The pie was huge and a bit on the rich side, I wouldnt be able to finish a whole peice alone. The creme brulee was very nice...although I could have done without the coconut shavings on the top...didnt mix with the sugar well.

All in all, this was a nice end to our evening. I would definately return again. The menu had many appealing items. Much better than the Emerils at citywalk. Ate there for lunch the next day and it was sub-par.

Three of us dined here about a year ago and we all agreed that we wouldn't return. The service, atmosphere and location are all pleasant, clean and enjoyable. You certainly feel your walking into a more upscale place. That's NOT the problem. But to pay very high prices for something that really isn't all that spectacular ... well, that's where it FAILS. And fails BIG TIME.

My wife and I have watched Emeril's show many times. It's entertaining, but that doesn't mean the food is good! I think this is where the misnomer comes in. It may be well to remember the fable: The Emperor's New Clothes. Just because everyone talks about Emeril and makes a big deal over his name, doesn't mean he is truly a good cook!!
