My husband & I went to Tcoup Chop yesterday (Memorial Day) for lunch. The previous reviews are right on target. The atmosphere is spectacular. Probably the prettiest I've ever seen. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Then the food came. I ordered the crab cakes w/habenero sauce. If there was any pepper in this, it wasn't a hab! The cakes were good but BLAND sauce. My husband had the yellow tuna salad and it was just ok. His main meal was the steamed fish and rice in a chinese steamer pot. His fish was so steamed it was wet. Alot of money for damp fish. My meal was I think, the most expensive on the menu. I had the Mongolian BBQ which actually was beef tips (I think filet mignon). There were about 6-7 of them with cooked noodles on top. There were a lot of noodles. There was suppose to be vegetables also, but try as I may, I couldn't see any. Zip. We decided not to chance the deserts at this point. The total of the lunch was $94.00. For NOODLES!!!!
Emeril, Emeril, Emeril, what happened? Skip this place and head to his main restaurant at Universal Studios CityWalk. While there, have the chocolate suffle (sp) for me. BAM!

After having dined at Emeril's NOLA in New Orleans (one of the best dining experiences of my life) I eagerly anticipated visiting Tchoup Chop. Visually, the place is a home run with its decor. The staff, as at NOLA, was outstanding. The Polynesian-themed cocktails were excellant and definitely not lacking "punch". Then our lunch came. While I really enjoy a fine dining experience I am also totally addicted to hamburgers (the true food of the gods) so I couldn't resist the Kobe Beef burger with potato gaufrettes (I think I spelled it right). I ordered it medium to medium rare but it came out well done (as in overcooked, not "good job"). The potato gaufrettes were just waffle-cut french fries and not very good ones. My wife was equally disappointed in her choice that included mediocre ribs in a too-sweet barbecue sauce and something that resembled lo mein. Since there were only three other tables occuppied you really couldn't blame the food on an overworked kitchen staff.

Taking into consideration the quality and consistancy of Emeril's recipes and the excellant experience at NOLA I wouldn't hesitate to try another of his restaurants. I just wouldn't go back to this one. As in the Roman Empire, maybe Emeril's Empire is stretching itself a little too thin. A chop chop visit to Tchoup Chop by the boss is in order.

My husband and I ate at Emeril's tchoup chop on December 7th for lunch. My husband had the yellow fin tuna salad which was very bland. The waitress gave extra dressing for the salad and it still did not help to make it taste any better. I had the pineapple chicken salad which consisted of the worst chicken I ever ate, very bland salad also. The price for this lunch including tip was $53.00 a total rip off. I expected more from an Emeril's restaurant. I'm willing to pay for good food but this restaurant does not live up to the hype.

We ate here during our recent Orlando stay, July 2, 2004. The decor is beautiful, very festive. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but our wait person was a bit too pushy concerning our entree choices. I welcome suggestions, and detailed answers to menu questions, but I do NOT want my dinner ordered for me!
I ended up with a special, which consisted of braised rabbit and seared scallops, on a bed of wilted greens. I cannot begin to describe how mouthwatering this dish was! It was absolutely perfect! I also had a salad, to start, with goat cheese and a yummy dressing - a fresh wonderful salad. Dessert could be passed on, in my opinion. We had four desserts at our table - the banana pudding is very bland, and the pecan pie was sticky and bland. Go for dinner, definitely choose a salad and just skip dessert. A great meal!
