I was really excited to try La Coquina's brunch. I read the reviews which made me decide to make reservations.
The ambiance was lacking - think dated beachy theme. The piano player was a nice touch, though. The restaurant was surrounded by floor to ceiling windows but the view was nothing special.
We had an endless supply of champagne and water. The waiters were attentive, making sure your glass was always full. In my opinion the food was comparable to cruise food, rather mediocre considering you're paying $130 for 2 before tip. They had a great selection of food but no omelet station or meat carving station. You had an option of pancakes or waffles made to order. I thought the waffles were good but how hard is it to mess up waffles? You had a selection of 5 main entrees; eggs benedict, buffalo, fish, lamb, and pheasant. I got eggs benedict and thought it was very good. My husband got the buffalo and said it was really good, too. Some of the selections in the buffet included sushi rolls, oysters, shrimp cocktail, various cheeses, fruit, caviar, pastries, salad, stromboli, foccacia, beef tenderloin etc., etc. A great selection but nothing particularly memorable.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It cost $160 after tip for two adults and the food was not that good unless you love cruise food.

Our culinary delights started on Saturday night with the Chef's table at La Coquina. We were greeted in the main atrium and shown down into the kitchen and seated at our table which had personalised menus waiting for us. There were seven individual courses, each and every one of which looked appetising and appealing.

After seating us, they brought over water and a glass of champagne each and asked it we wished to do the wine flight or see the wine list. We chose a bottle of wine as the wine flight would have been way too much for us as we're fairly light drinkers.

The head chef came over to welcome us to the restaurant and checked the menu was ok for us and if we had any allergies/dislikes. He invited us to come and have a look behind the counters between courses if we wished.

The first course arrived; it was incredible and set the scene for the fantastic meal which followed. We had a look around the kitchen after our second course and were shown around by the sous chef. It was very interesting seeing the food we were about to eat and something quite unique.

The meal continued, each course delivered and introduced by the head chef and our waiter was working tirelessly. He was a great waiter and helped to make the evening; attentive yet inconspicuous.

As the evening wound down we finished with tea and coffee before retiring for the night. The meal had been something really special that we'd been looking forward to most of the week.

The next day was Sunday and we were booked in for Sunday brunch in the main restaurant. We were seated and offered orange juice as well as a choice of white/rose champagne.

We had attended the Sunday brunch before so we weren't shown around but all 'first timers' are given an introduction for the layout as you go inside the kitchen choosing from a huge range of appetisers and entrees laid out. There are also fresh entrees to have 'made while you watch' and the range of food is amazing.

You are encouraged to return as many times as you can to the kitchen and whilst you are eating your glasses are constantly refilled, your dirty plates are then cleared and napkins refolded whilst you choose your next selection. The deserts are outside the kitchen and there are many 'miniature' versions of all the favourites as well as some more avant garde choices.

The restaurant itself is also a very nice setting. There is a piano in the centre where the pianist plays a selection of well-known favourites and creates wonderful background music. You are overlooking the lake at the bottom of the hotel and the restaurant also had a skylight making it very bright and airy.

I cannot recommend La Coquina highly enough, the food is high quality, the service is superb and it is an awesome experience. I think the sole negative is that it only runs once a week with the Chef's table on a saturday night and brunch on Sunday!

My husband and I love having brunch here. The food is simply outstanding. The dessert display are beautiful. If you are a chocolate fan you won't be disappointed. This is our treat twice a year.

Had Sunday brunch at La Coquina May 3rd, 2009.
I had looked around online for brunch ideas and came across the brunch here on a dining website for the Orlando area. It was bit fancier than my husband and I usually do, but it sounded like such and event I couldn't resist. We dined by ourselves and although there were guest there with children I would not have brought mine. The food was more adult and there were 6 glasses on the table just for the 2 of us. Not good for my 2 and 6 year old. We made reservations about 2 weeks prior. I don't know if we could have walked in or not. The food was unbelievable. Everything you could imagine and then some. Caviar, sushi, dried fruits and nuts, cheeses and pastries, a raw bar, fresh made pancakes and waffles and then lots of other taste sized items. There was so much! It was nice that the portions were small because I thought of it as a fun opportunity to try things I never had before. We had ostrich and sushi, seaweed salad and a really tasty calamari salad? The brandied cherries were one of our favorites. They were good with pancakes, waffles, rice pudding or on their own. The service was great and the piano music was too. I felt like he had stolen my ipod. Not stuffy elevator music. Queen, Coldplay... really cool. If you're up for a splurge and have time (we were there about 2 hours) it is well worth it. I believe it was $55 a head, I think our final bill ended up about $140. With complimentary valet parking :)

p.s. Tons of dessert too. Cakes, pies, lots of petit fours and truffles. My favorite was lemon covered in dark chocolate. If I hadn't been so stuffed I would have eaten 2!

We had the distinct pleasure of enjoying this brunch in May of '08.

We almost didn't go. Our hesitance to leave the Disney property combined with the $60+ pp price tag almost kept us away.

What a *huge* mistake that would have been.

I've had some amazing brunch experiences in my day, but nothing could have prepared me for this.

Beef tenderloin, leg of lamb, sea foods of all sorts...All sliced and prepared to order. Endless freshly prepared egg dishes. If you can think of it, and it's not on the menu already, the staff will make it appear.

A stunning selection of deserts, good quality champagne that flowed like water...

In a word: GO. Just GO. It was the highlight of our already amazing trip...
