I was really excited to try La Coquina's brunch. I read the reviews which made me decide to make reservations.
The ambiance was lacking - think dated beachy theme. The piano player was a nice touch, though. The restaurant was surrounded by floor to ceiling windows but the view was nothing special.
We had an endless supply of champagne and water. The waiters were attentive, making sure your glass was always full. In my opinion the food was comparable to cruise food, rather mediocre considering you're paying $130 for 2 before tip. They had a great selection of food but no omelet station or meat carving station. You had an option of pancakes or waffles made to order. I thought the waffles were good but how hard is it to mess up waffles? You had a selection of 5 main entrees; eggs benedict, buffalo, fish, lamb, and pheasant. I got eggs benedict and thought it was very good. My husband got the buffalo and said it was really good, too. Some of the selections in the buffet included sushi rolls, oysters, shrimp cocktail, various cheeses, fruit, caviar, pastries, salad, stromboli, foccacia, beef tenderloin etc., etc. A great selection but nothing particularly memorable.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It cost $160 after tip for two adults and the food was not that good unless you love cruise food.
