“DELICIOUS, authentic, friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

First, make sure you know where you're going. TA does list another "Machu Picchu" in Orlando on Colonial Drive. This lies off South Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 17-92-441). And as you approach the intersection with West Taft Vineland Road, look for Cypress Park Plaza on the southeast corner. You'll need to turn east on Taft Vineland and enter that parking lot on the north end. Machu Picchu Peruvian Cuisine sits in Suite 117 at the northeast end of that complex.

We had a group of ten meet here during a conference. My wife and I arrived first and found it sparse and utilitarian—no ambience—but clean. Only one man, Clair, enthusiastically served the entire smallish room (seating maybe 20-24?), and he did well enough. With our menus we received small bowls of roasted corn for munchies and small cups with samples of a favorite Peruvian juice—Chicha Morada, I think, from blue corn. We enjoyed it enough to order a full pitcher for ourselves.

Our group had a variety of dishes, from the ceviche and other seafood to grilled chicken, soups, and beef dishes. Given the size of our group, Clair did have some trouble bringing everything out together; from the first dishes to the last, we waited probably 8-10 minutes. Those waiting kindly encouraged those of us with food to begin. We gladly did so. Suffice it to say that everyone was very satisfied with the presentation, flavor, and texture of our wide-ranging dishes.

As we chatted after the meal and some of the dishes were removed, Clair brought out a few plates of Picarones—a deep-fried dough dessert covered with a sweet syrup that seemed like molasses, but lighter. Evidently on the house! We (meaning "I") made sure that *none* of these treats was left behind—and that Clair's already generous tip grew by a couple of bucks.

The next day when we stopped by to confirm the address, only one young lady was evidently in charge of the entire restaurant as well. This was early Sunday afternoon, with only a few people present.

ALL the food was prepared and served well. We'd love to return. Strongly recommended.
