My boyfriend and I stayed at Econo Lodge International for 4 days. I was not disappointed by the location or the state of the hotel. You definitely pay for what you get. It is clean and comfortable for a nights sleep after enjoying parks and rides all day. The location is ideal. Ripley's Believe It or Not!, Wonderworks, numerous food places and other fun activities are all within 5 minutes drive from the the hotel. Food places are all in walking distance. There is a little park right opposite the hotel that is open late at nights. Those are all a plus for the hotel.
My biggest problem was the hotel staff. My boyfriend and I decided not to drive and opted to use the hotel's free shuttle service to Universal Studios. The girl at the front desk provided a flier which stated that pick up time was 9:00 pm at lane 87. I took the flier just in case of anything. After a wonderful day at Universal Studios, we made our way to lane 87. Little did we know that the area where the shuttle was supposed to pick us had been rented by another company. A little nervous that our shuttle would not have been able to get into the the bus area, we found an open wifi connection and downloaded a free calling app. We called the number on the flier to find out if we were supposed to meet the shuttle anywhere else. The young lady at the front desk was down right rude and told us that she had no information and told us to try to contact the shuttle company. My boyfriend and I are not from the US and did not have cellphones. (that's why we needed wifi to use our iPhone) We tried to explain our situation to the young lady but she was stern about not having any information insisted that we make a few telephone calls to find out what was going on.
After walking around for over an hour we found our bus and got home. Thank goodness we were able to find a free wifi connection and the app store! The bus driver said the flier we received at the hotel was outdated. When we got to the hotel we tried talking to the morning staff but they seemed uninterested in what we had to say. So to guest using the shuttle. Make sure you take down all the information before using the shuttle AND have a working cellphone. I would also suggest that you ask the shuttle driver about the meeting points and time for meeting. Hotel Staff were NOT accommodating at all.
