“Great Sunday afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Took the opportunity on Sunday afternoon to visit downtown Orlando and Lake Eola Park. I would recommend it. They have a farmers market (think arts/ crafts stalls, food stalls, variety stalls, etc.) all around the lake; roughly 100 - 150 stalls. DW and I spent a wonderful couple of hours visiting the stalls and chatting with the owners. Everyone was SO polite! Had the biggest gyro sandwich we have ever had; shared one and it was enough for a late lunch!

There was also a free concert that was taking place that added to the atmosphere. Some food sample giveaways as well. The only downside was the number of people & cars which = having to pay for parking. However, parking was a relatively cheap $5.

Did 2 rounds of the lake - once on the roadway looking at the stalls and the 2nd on the walkway to enjoy the lake, the swans (black and white), and the little works of art, the center fountain and the views of the buildings. Not spectacular, but very nice. Then enjoyed the concert for a bit.

Other than the parking and any amounts spent at the farmers market, it’s a great free activity in Orlando.

“An expected view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

A hidden beauty - between the lake, the fountain, swans and meandering paths a nice reprieve I from the busy. Whether you attend an event or just stroll by yourselves it is a nice jaunt. I like to go to the farmers market on weekends and stroll through under the trees. There is a Publix grocery store across the street where you can make purchases for an impromptu picnic. Now that the fountain is running the lake is cleaner. With downtown condos popping up all over the park is utilized by the locals.

“Very beautiful scenery!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

I took my wife here after brunch, and I must say the recent projects to revive this already beautiful area only make me want to go back more! Even though you see homely people sitting around, the scenery just makes you focus on other things. I'm so glad they got the water fountain working again, this is the parks staple piece of scenery.

“A very scenic, relaxing stroll around the lake.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

This is a very popular Downtown Orlando attraction. It is always busy with people enjoying the beautiful trees, the lake, the Swans and the fountain, among other things. I'm not sure, but I think it's about a mile walk around the park. The walkway is completely paved so it is a very comfortable walk. Bikes, skateboards and roller skates are not permitted so walkers don't have to worry about being run over or bumped by someone coming up fast behind them.

There are a lot of joggers and dog walkers that use the park, so you do need to be aware of their presence. The large fountain out in the lake is a recognizable icon for the park. It is very nice and provides a nice subject for photographs. The large old trees around the lake do so as well. They are very majestic and extremely interesting with how the large limbs go off in all directions, even down. They provide an expansive canopy of shade which is much appreciated on hot sunny days.

There are public restroom facilities that are available from early morning until late at night. Bench seating is located all along the walking path so you may stop and rest on your excursion.

There are a multitude of Swans, both white and black that make Lake Eola their home. There are also a lot of ducks and other birds that live in the area. The Park does ask that if you want to feed the swans, to use the correct type of food that will not cause harm to the animals. There are coin operated feeder stations where you can buy the proper type of food for them. This area attracts many different kinds of birds, so there are plenty of photo ops available for nature lovers.

There is a small cafe/bar on property with nice covered outside seating. It is right next to the Swan Boat rental dock, so there is always something to watch while grabbing a drink or some lunch.

There is metered streetside parking, as well as a large public (pay) parking garage a block away, so there is plenty of parking available. On the weekends, they often have vendors at the park with tents set up to provide an eclectic assortment of goods for the park visitors.

There is an ampitheater donated by Disney where concerts, presentations, and award ceremonys, etc. can be held. Very nice bench seating is provided for the audience.

The park is home to many annual events held in Orlando and deserves to be on every visitors list of things to see and do when visiting The City Beautiful.
