I stayed at this hotel in august & managed 1 night, not through choice but my travel company office was closed & I had to wait until the next morning. When we walked into the room it smelled of damp. The carpet was filthy, with mould in the corner by the window. There was a very basic metal table with 2 chairs, a chest of drawers & a t.v. No wardrobe - 3 people who were staying 2 weeks- where were we expected to hang our clothes?
We were offered a different room, in fact we were given a choice of rooms, considering it was Labor Day weekend, I was surprised they had so many rooms available.
When I contacted my travel company they seemed aware of the damp smell & quickly found us alternative acceptable accommodation.
I have stayed in Orlando several times & have never experienced a hotel like this.

Walked into here after a nightmare at another hotel. We were given a room overlooking I-drive facing wet and wild. The rooms are surprisingly large and ours was very clean with everything we needed. A couple of minutes after checking in we were sent a complimentary fridge and microwave. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, from the maids to the manager. The maid service was very good. The pool was a good size l shape with plenty of loungers, there is no Jacuzzi or whirlpool but that’s not a problem. The boys only used the arcade once but it was pretty cheap to play the machines. There were very few children here it was more adults meaning the hotel was fairly quiet.

They offer a shuttle bus to most parks starting at $15 round trip per person. I did over hear them telling someone walking to Universal was not a good idea and it was a long walk and a taxi was needed. It’s actually not a bad walk at all taking around 15mins.

The only downside to this hotel is the lack of breakfast offered they do offer a 40c discount in the restaurant attached but it would be better if it was included in the price. Would I stay again definitely if they offered breakfast, maybe otherwise.

I have only recently come back from my holiday to Orlando.
The main reason I did not like this hotel was due to our money being stolen from the hotel room safe. Not just the hotel room but from the safe! This was on the 5th day of our holiday. Once we noticed the money had gone we went to reception to report this. I spoke the the manager Bruce who explained that we had the only key for the safe and this is why they asked for $50 deposit for the key. He said we must have left the safe open so it was our problem. We went back to the room and searched high and low for the cash. It was definately not there! We even checked the safe and there is no way you can leave the safe open without the key being in the lock! We went back to reception and explained this, also told him that even if we did leave the safe open then someone still had access to our room. They only thing he offered was a pizza and to call the police. We spoke to the police and filed a report. The officer told us that the Monumental Movieland is one of the worst hotels down International Drive. From the start of our visit we found the staff to be very unfriendly, they seemed to have a not bothered attitude about them. The air conditioning was also very noisy and was difficult to hear anything while it was on.
Although the hotel was very basic we had everything we needed and had we not had our money stolen would have been very happy to stay here again. But after having our cash taken and the hotel not willing to compensate I would not recommend staying here.

Read the reviews on here before booking on Expedia. The people who have given good reviews on the rooms must have stayed in some dives before. The room quite large but the 2 "double" beds were tiny. The whole room felt really dated and could do with new bed covers and curtains. We changed rooms as the air condiditioning didn't work. The 2nd room smelt of damp. Such a disappointment. We were only there for one night and had the worse night's sleep in a long time. Beds and pillows were so uncomfortable and i've still got pain in my neck 3 days later!
The corridors are really dated, with crappy pictures on the walls and had to hunt around for an ice machine that worked.
On a positive note, the staff were very friendly. The towels were made into pretty shapes and were clean! Black angus dinner was really good too.
We were only there for one night for flight transfer, luckily, but i've i'd booked my 2 week holiday there, I'd have to have moved. It was a really disappointing end to a fantastic holiday.
Stay at the Radisson on Lake Buena Vista. It is more expensive but so worth it. There are some good deals around as well.
