“A piece of paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We spent a weekend at this lovely resort and never once left the property! From the breathtaking lobby to the caribbean resort style pool to the excellent restaurants, this is a first rate Marriott. I was very pleasantly surprised at the gourmet level of food offerings---previous Marriotts have just been very ho-hum. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff is friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a bargain vacation, this is not the place to stay. While our room rate was very affordable, the niceties are quite hefty-----drinks, meals, parking, wi-fi, etc. But, we felt it was worth every penny.

Stayed here for a work trip-it was not as big as the main conference hotel called Rosen at Shingle Creek. Actually very happy I didn't stay there as that is too big-JW is half the size of Rosen and JW is connected to the Ritz so great spa and gym-albeit both are at Ritz so expect a bit of a walk to get there but good for those factors and the pool is great for family as well as kids. Good sushi bar in main area too! Room was very nice and had good beds and sheets. Also had separate bath and shower.

We stayed here this year instead of at Disney. Will never do again. I was nickle and dimed for everything - $10/day for WiFi, daily parking charges, $7 to buy each person a float for the pool! - that really disgusted me. There was no place you could jump into the pool for the kids - only float, and the water barely moved. It was more a place for conferences. Room with two double beds was TINY. Breakfast was lovely, but it should be, at over $100 a morning (including tax and tip) for our 2 adult, 2 child family. They were really accommodating for our son's nut allergies at the Citrico's restaurant and everyone was VERY nice. But the toilet clogged every time the kids used it - I know, kids, but this has never happened at any other place. We were in Room 9050. We also needed a minifridge that worked for the food that I was going to bring to the parks daily for my son to eat, and I was expecting one as it is listed as an amenity for the room. The one in the room didn't work; they said it was a "old minibar." They brought one up, that looked just as old as the one we had, and didn't remove the old one so it ended up taking up even more space in our unbearably tiny room. The settings they set for me froze everything overnight. So no safe food for my son at the parks. I should also mention that since you have to BUY not borrow the pool floats, you have to keep them in the room, blown up, taking up a ton more space. They didn't fit under the beds. The toiletries smelled nice, there was plenty of service (tipping every second). II can't complain about the staff - I was impressed at how friendly the staff was. A real training success for the place. I just was disappointed at all the incidental charges (just charge me more for the room and give me free WiFi, free floats, and free self-parking, for goodness sakes), how tiny the room was, and how the fridge and toilet didn't work. I would never stay here again.

Very nice hotel - beautiful, huge lobby, nice rooms, crazy pool with lazy river, lots of different sections, nice bar, pool service, etc. This hotel is in a property with the Ritz Carlton. The two hotels share the golf course, the spa and workout facility. So of course, those things are gorgeous. The food, buffet, drinks and such were expensive, but I honestly expected that. Quick drive to Disney with the kids and I was glad to get off of the Disney property after a long day there. There was a huge medical conference going on at the time we were there, which clogged up the starbucks, but beyond that, no complaints.

Room Tip: make sure you have a room facing the pool/golf course and make sure it has a balcony - most do.

My husband and I took our 5 year old grandson to Orlando for a few days and decided to stay at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes instead of a Disney Resort. What a great decision. The resort is wonderful- the property is shared with the Ritz Carlton and is situated on a beautiful lake and golf course. The grounds are well maintained with numerous walking paths and two children's play areas. The staff was wonderful - everyone went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. We had a small issue with the in-room safe and the manager called to make sure we had been well taken care of. The pool is spectacular. It is surrounded by a lazy river ride with bridges, waterfalls, and green foliage everywhere, It is the nicest family pool I have ever seen. Buy a few inner tubes which are sold on site and float away,. The pool is heated to 83 degrees! We reserved an executive king suite which consisted of a living room with sofa bed and a bedroom with king size bed. There were curtained french doors between the two for privacy. Our room which faced the pool and lake, was on the 19th floor and the view was spectacular. Everything in the hotel was clean and freshly painted. We can't wait to return.

We stayed April 17-20th. Great time to go because spring break is nearly over and most kids are back in school. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The pool and location is great. Never felt over crowded at the pool. You can literally see every amusement park around Orlando if you get a room facing the pool/west. Only ate poolside, but the food and drinks were very good. Overall, we had a very relaxing few days there.

We stayed at the JW for one night. We had a week at the Sheraton Vistana Villages but wanted to fly out an extra night early because we live far away and the travel time getting to Orlando would have shortened our trip. This room at the JW was booked with Marriott Rewards Points.

We arrived at the JW during an intense thunder and lightning storm and just as we pulled up it seemed that lightning hit one of the buildings! When we got to the front lobby doors, one of the valets quickly ran up and got us ushered out and into the lobby. Great valet service!

Upon check-in, we were greeted quickly and we used the express/members check-in line. We were offered either free parking using his points or something else of which I can't remember what it was (we took the free parking). We also got some water and snacks (which was appreciated by our hungry and crabby kids!).

Checked into our room, which had a lovely view of the pond and paths and pool below. It was still raining quite hard so we didn't venture outside for too long.

The rest of our family/party was staying at a different hotel for the night but they came to meet us and we have a lovely gathering in the main lobby bar area. Staff were extremely friendly. We spent some time walking around the property and really liked it.

Overall, we had a great night and would definitely stay here again!
