I stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes for a business function in March 2008. The grounds are meticulously cared for, the pool was fantastic, and the room was very comfortable. I highly recommend the sushi bar though the drinks are rather expensive. Their conference service team did an excellent job in executing each meal and break - I should know, my husband is in the business! Though I didn't have an opportunity to go to the common Orlando attractions during my stay, I can imagine that it would be difficult to leave the property to do so!

I had to book a hotel in a hurry so didn't do as much research as usual. Marriott are generally reliable but this was an exceptional hotel. Beautiful grounds and public areas, great facilities for kids, an amazing pool and some peace and quiet in the middle of all the crazy Orlando attractions. We booked a family package which gave us two ajoining rooms plus a wide range of vouchers and extras that were all very much appreciated. The kids' buffet was great although the restaurant could be a bit too busy at times.

I stayed at this hotel last week for a conference, and I had a terrific experience overall. Lobby is very nice, central bar, a few restaurant choices, and there is a covered path to the Ritz if you want an even more upscale experience. Accomodations were nice (including comfortable beds), food was good, conference meeting rooms were great, and the gift shops were cute. Water with orange slices in the lobby is a nice touch too. Overall an upscale experience and I would definitely consider going back.

“Great place for a business trip”

I stayed at the JW Marriott for a business trip and it was a wonderful hotel for business. As you drive up with the JW Marriott on one side and the Ritz Carlton on the other, you know you have arrived at a fine hotel.

The check in process was quick and easy. The staff was very helpful and the layout was very open and comfortable. The rooms were a nice size and clean. The bed was very comfortable with a chocolate on the pillow each night before you turned in. I had a standard room so it had a king bed, couch, desk and lounge chair. Some rooms had small balconies.

The golf course was challenging; however, golfers from all skill levels will have a good time. The staff at the pro shop and 19th hole was extremely helpful and friendly. This was the first course where I saw alligators (2) in the water near the course and it was quite interesting to see alligators in the wild.

The hotel has several pools and a lazy river that looked nice; I did not get time to enjoy them however.

This is a great hotel for business travel, but not sure I would stay with family. While the food was good at the onsite restaurants, it was expensive. The bar in the lobbywas very expensive. I had a Chopin Vodka on the rocks and while it was a nice size drink, it was not worth the $28.00 I was charged.

Overall, a very nice place to stay, but if you come with the family, I would recommend a car so you can get to other places for more modest pricing on food and drinks.

You walk into this hotel and you know you are staying somewhere really wonderful, a breathtaking entrance with beautiful marble tiling, a fountain, scented candles, warm apple cider or chilled water on arrival and very helpful staff.

Coming back to the hotel after theme parks and shopping malls is like escaping from it all. The drive up to the hotel and the manicured grounds are lovely.

It is a huge hotel but every area is well laid out and its size means you can bring children there and not be concerned about them disturbing other guests. We had our three year old with us and he could run down wide carpeted corridors without meeting another guest - it is that big!!

The pool area is wonderful - with lots of seperate areas, a lazy river, a toddlers pool with resident crocodile :) a play area and the water was nice and warm for december.

Our suite was huge, on the 18th floor with amazing views. Really comfy beds, a large bathroom and lots of space for all the shopping you are sure to accumulate, and we didn't feel on top of each other no matter how long we stayed in the room.

The food at the hotel is excellent, a great buffet every morning offering everything you could imagine in a huge airy dining room with seperate booths, and colouring books, stickers and crayons for the kids - so child friendly.

The spa is located next door in the Ritz, a short walk through the gardens and beside the pool. It is a Ritz standard spa so the treatments are wonderful and a great place to escape to.

The Marriott has all the charm, excellence of service and wonderful atmosphere of the Ritz without any of the snobbery.
