The hotel itself and it's facilities are excellent .The lobby and views to the rear of the hotel over the lakes are stunning and the lazy river was very popular with the children.

The hotel does however by it's own admission have difficulty in coping with peak periods and this was evidenced by the
queues for breakfast and the length of time it took for outside callers to get through to our room during our stay. Some of those callers told me they simply gave up ! The room was also not particularly clean and the telephones in particular were covered in dust.

Most of the staff were very helpful although the standard of the reception staff was very mixed varying between being very hospitable to being very cold. I had a particular incident when I left the hotel with a lady at the reception which soured my whole departure and my experience of the hotel.

We stayed the week of Thanksgiving. The room is nice and elegant as expected. The ground is fabulous. My husband played golf almost everyday, he said the course was great. My boy got to play free with him. The service is nice and warm. The restaurant has superb food. Their lazy river is well designed, only thing is the water is not warm enough to swim after 4 pm. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommended it.

Room Tip: Very close to Sea world, universal and Disney is about 15-20 minutes drive.

Stayed at the JW Marriott over the New Year holiday. First impressions are really good. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and was large and impressive. From there things went downhill a bit. I am an elite level customer and waited for 35 minutes to get waited on when I checked in. Service was very friendly but was horribly slow. I am contemplating posting a photo of the massive check in counter with not one single staff person at the counter. This was well below Marriott standards and was hugely disappointing.

The room we had was typical for this class of hotel - very small. Let me say that again. Very small. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bed was great.

Dining options are plentiful and the food is good, just over priced. No need to dine in with so many good restaurants in Orlando thankfully. I had the stay and breakfast rate. The breakfast buffet was very good. But each morning we arrived we had to go through the same routine to get the breakfast. The staff's limited English made communication harder than it should be in central Florida.

Golf course is pretty good. Well maintained and well run. Just don't eat at the clubhouse if you are in a hurry. The food is prepared at the hotel and driven over in a cart. It took forever.

The spa and staff were excellent.

So all in all the resort was good but they were not properly staffed and it did not make me want to rush back to stay there again.

Nothing to complain about here. Just about everything you want in a hotel of this type. The hotel is quite nice and very spacious, and the staff is helpful. The pool and lazy river are great. Maybe the best thing was the confidence/ropes course. Much more challenging than you would expect at a hotel. There are several good food options. Not world-class cuisine, but just fine. Well-located, with easy drives to numerous attractions.

We have stayed at the JW Marriott Grand Lakes several times before. I have to admit that this time was the worst so far. It really is a great place if you like to play golf because of the huge golf park that comes with it. The pool area at the hotel is pretty impressive too but most of the people dont really use it.

We used to like the rooms, even though they redid em (not the best work on the floor we had), the whole hotel needs to be renovated.
If you booked with breakfast you need to show your booking confirmation to the waiters, otherwise the breakfast will be added to your room, according to the front desk the JW is incapable of letting the guys from the restaurant know that you have breakfast included (they were the years before though).

We had a "so called kitchen" which did not have any oven, silverware, tableware or pots at all. It therefore is a complete waste of space that you get charged extra for. You should skip on the rooms including it (unless you wanna bring your own oven and stuff of course) :-)
The calls on the voicemail is annoying though. They try to sell you marriott packages etc. and they have been doing this all the years we have been there. We just ignore it every time but sometimes you have 2 or 3 calls your rooms voicemail.

Service was not really good nor bad - but far away from what it used to be.
Snappy comments from front desk ladies on your checkout when things appear on the list you never had and luggage that supposed to be in your car which it was not (had to check and found it not packed in there at all even though they asked for the car number and were supposed to put it in there) made us say that we will skip it next time because for what they charge you there are plenty of nice hotels around with equal or better service. Again - different experience if you are a golf person!

Room Tip: Does not really matter which rooms as most of them are ok and have a nice view. Some of the newly re...

The hotel is lovely, stunning entrance and grounds and pool area. The staff are efficient and the rooms/ bathrooms are luxurious. You do need a car but it was nice being away from the Orlando hullabaloo but still less than 20 mins drive from main attractions.

Two things prevented this from receiving full five stars. One is that our room was on the front of the hotel and it was noisy. Ever time a car was locked in the car park in front there was a horn beep. Then a man was using a leaf blower to blow away a puddle in the car park at 7.50am, then the general garden maintenance started with mowers and strimmers. Ask for a pool view room, which we had last time and it was very tranquil. Of course, that costs more.

Secondly, we were here just after Christmas and the hotel was very busy. Breakfast was loud and far from relaxing, with lots of unhappy children!

Overall, a good stay and would recommend.

Room Tip: Pool view for some peace

Driving on I-4, with a GPS, trying to find the JW Marriott was more than a bit tricky. We took the right exit, but then we entered a road where we had to make about ten turns, left then right, right then left. What's worse is that once we finally got onto the Grand Lakes Road, we completely passed the hotel. There was just one sign, which was just for the Ritz Carlton, so we thought that our hotel must not be there because there was already a Ritz Carlton. Little did we know that the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott are on the same road, less than 1 minute away. Other than this little journey, check-in was a breeze. They even had complementary fruit, spa water, and apple cider in the lobby, which sounds great after hours of traveling on airplanes and waiting in airports. Our room was located on the 26th and final floor, and the view was awesome, with sparkling lakes and cows grazing on miles and miles of fresh, green grass. We payed $300/night, but the room was not so different than other hotels like Gaylord Palms where we had only paid $150/night. The room was small, especially the shower, where one had to literally squeeze in to fit inside. The lobby was magnificent, and it even had a fireplace to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee from the nearby starbucks at the hotel. There were many Christmas activities for kids, like decorating gingerbread houses and breakfast with santa, although a bit too pricey, like $80/child. The next morning, the breakfast buffet just started my day out perfectly. With freshly baked breads everywhere you looked, cheeses, fruits, pastries, omelettes, and even ice cream for the kids, the whole family was more than satisfied after the meal. Later, check-out was even easier than check-in because we were able to check out right from our TV in our room. It was so easy! Overall, I do recommend this hotel. But, if you are a tourist coming from another state or even another country, maybe you should pick a more central, easier to find hotel. If not, please, don't forget your GPS!

Room Tip: Be sure to get the breakfast package. The breakfast buffet is awesome. The hotel bakes its own bread...
