“Great hotel in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

Stayed here on two occasions. This place swallows up conventioneers like they aren't even there - a huge property. The lazy river pool and poolside bar and cafe are amazing. Used this hotel as base camp to do the parks - what a place to come back to. Have to have a car to escape, there is nothing around to walk to. We were there with a rental car and stocked up with light snacks, drinks (OK - I was fully stocked) to avoid having to rely on the property for all meals (and beverages)

I stayed at this hotel for a convention and had a wonderful stay. The room I received had a view of the lake and hotel grounds, which was nice. The bathroom was very spacious, with a walk in shower and a tub, although the rest of the room was not overly spacious. The small balcony made the normal sized room seem much larger, though. Also, the housekeeping staff was wonderful. The rooms are very clean and the nightly turn-down service was a nice treat. On the first day at the hotel, my wife and I walked along the lakefront jogging path that runs between the JW and the Ritz and took note of all the different types of birds that are along the water. During the conference, there were also numerous lunches/dinners held outside, and the hotel grounds are more than adequate to handle such functions. Oh, and if you like to golf, I heard nothing but great reviews from those I spoke with that spent some time out on the course.

Loved the stunning entrance way...especially when decorated for Christmas. Loved the fire pit next to bar because it was warmer than the distant marshmellow pit. King suites are impressive with a great balcony. A few squeaks here and there could use some WD-40. Breakfast bar was over the top but will cost you $25 a person. Unbelievable pool area....contructed like a jungle with tons of hidden places for couples to talk.

Room Tip: 22nd floor overlooking 18th hole on the end with the big walk out balcony...you won't regret it

I have stayed here several times over the past couple of years. Each time has been fantastic. The rooms are very nice and well decorated. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. There are plenty of activities for everyone. As with most hotel restaurants the prices are above what you might pay elsewhere but the food was very good and consistent.

We stayed here while visiting Orlando for business, but I would take my family here in a heartbeat. The pool runs through a river like course and would be a lot of fun with my kids. The lobby is a sight to behold, very expansive and the hotel employees are very professional and cordial. You would almost expect that because of the grand size and expense, that this hotel would only cater to the upper class and have a snobby feel or that us regular people would not be welcomed; but quite the contrary. Everyone who worked in this hotel that I interacted with were some of the best hotel employees I have come across; they made you feel valued and very welcomed.

The room was ok. The bed was comfortable and very clean. There are two sets of elevators to service the lower and higher floors (3-12 and 14-30) which is very convenient and we never had to wait long for an elevator. It appeared that we stayed on an older floor so the carpet was a bit worn in places and the furnishings were a dated. The room appeared to be clean and the bathroom was larger than in most hotels. The towels were a bit worn and did not have the newness or fluff you would expect from a JW Marriott. The TV was a flat screen and there were plenty of channels to watch.

I used some of the hotel services, mainly the exercise facility and it was one of the best I have used while on business travel. Great selection of free weights, machines and cardio equipment. I used the Starbuck’s every day and they have a full service Starbuck’s, but without the sandwiches. Wide selection of pastries and oatmeal, but there is a bakery right next door to take of those who want sandwiches. The main lobby bar is huge and the service is great. There is an outdoor veranda right off the lobby that overlooks the pool area, this is a great place to unwind and relax.

Overall this is an outstanding hotel and I would recommend it to anyone traveling for business or with the family.

The JW Marriot in Orlando served as the home base for a golf getaway with my son, who flew in from Chicago. We played several area courses over 4 days, including the Ritz-Carlton located just next door on the same property. The staff was cordial and professional upon check-in. We were able to eat at the hotel a couple of times after a full day of golf. The menus in the restaurants are varied and provided some terrific choices. The room was clean and spacious. The central location of this hotel was key to making the weekend successful as there are so many golf courses within a short drive, as well as a short trip to the Orlando outlets. There were so many things going on at this location over that weekend that the experience was never boring. The 7th annual Orlando Exotic Car Show was taking place in the space between the 2 hotels and gave us an opportunity to see some very special automobiles. Overall, the weekend was a success and the JW Marriot played a key role in that success.

Room Tip: A high floor provides a great view of the adjacent golf course.

This was a wonderful hotel. It was very clean and beautifully decorated for Christmas! The staff was very nice. The only problem I had was that my key did not work one day due to the fact it was under 2 reservations. It was annoying hiking to my room after they assured me it would work, just to hike back down and tell them it didn't. That was very minor. The food was very pricy but good.
