This resort messed up orders, overcharged for items. Valet dented our truck. They backed it up into a palm tree. Valet said that they were at fault, I have pictures to prove with residue on our bumper from palm tree. Just got a statement from their insurance company denying us for payment. I would highly recommend that you stay at another resort. The Ginn resort or Gaylord has better amenities and services. STAY AWAY from JW Marriott...........

Great Resort like experience right in Orlando. The Grand Lakes resort is a joint venture with a D.W. Marriott and the a Rtitz. sharing the same grounds. Beautiful landscaped grounds, excellent spa, great golf, good restaurants, two wonderful swimming pools, and very quiet.

The only negative feature is that these resorts cater to large groups and conventions, so know what is going on at the hotel before you book your stay.

The JW Marriott can be seen standing alone from miles away. I was attending a conference for four days and was impressed at the great logistical job they were able to achieve. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The lobby is beautiful and classy. Our room was a bit smaller than I would expect with a tiny balcony too small to do anything but stand and look over the vast skyline. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The pool is truely beautiful and very well landscaped. However, there were a few shortcomings here. The pool bar was poorly staffed which during my several visits there I always had to flag down the bartender for another beer. Never was I asked if I would like another. Also, there were no ash trays for my smoking friends so they poured water in a clear plastic cup for an ash tray. Yuk! Another issue was the attempt to get you to use their Town Car service for taxi service. You must request a Taxi. A trip to the airport is $45 in a Town Car and just under $30 for a cab. Finally, you had to buy a float for the lazy river as they did not provide any for free. The price was a reasonable $5 but this seemed somewhat odd to me. The hotel and grounds are isolated from traffic and everything else, like shopping and restaurants.

With that said, we really enjoyed this place and would highly recommend it with the caveats listed above .

While we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and found the property to be beautiful, the service was below our expectations. The valets were hard to find, even at non-peak times, and the bell staff was rude. Room service, even at non-peak times, took over an hour (25-35 minutes was promised.) For a hotel with premium pricing, the service falls short. The bottom line is that a hotel can't charge $13 for drinks at the pool and at the same time operate at half staff.
