My partner and I stayed for 1 week in March.
Do not stay here unless you have a hire car everything is too far away to walk. The shuttle services to parks wasn't great, 1 bus there and 1 bus back daily. (Taxis are expensive and very inconsistent)
There is 1 onsite restaurant which we had breakfast in one morning, never again ! Expensive and rubbish. We tired another night for dinner, this was once again very poor and expensive. The pizza delivery place was the only food worth eating but yes of course expensive!
Room we had was nice and spacious but then we had paid extra for a villa, so what you would expect for the money!

The trip was a last minute weekend getaway for my birthday, and the stay here was nothing but sub standard. After the never ending wait to finish our checkin, someone has directly guided us to from desk who gave an impression that the hotel wants to return $75 to retain us for future stay. This we later understood was a timeshare thingy, nevertheless we thought of giving it a try. But what a waste of time. The sales rep was extremely pushy and down right rude when we decided not to go with there program. Their pressure tactics were unbelievably forceful and deceitful.

The amenities are not great either. Our room was old, check in took for ever, finding a place to parking was even harder. Thanks Westgate, but no thanks!!!

Room Tip: Don't let them sell you into the VIP Tour, total waste of time

We stayed at WLR this past week March 20-28 and had a very good resort experience. A few thoughts for upcoming travellers and feedback for the staff:

Housekeeping - excellent and friendly staff. We would recommend that housekeeping start each day by walking the stairs of the building either before or after they go up the elevator with their cleaning carts. Both sets of stairs should be checked every morning before anything else is done. This should be their regular daily start-up item (please listen to this Hotel Managers!). The resort was very clean, rooms were well kept and the housekeeping staff was on site, accessible and friendly but they can't clean what they haven't gone looking for. Every morning on my morning run or walk there was garbage on the stairs. Some of this was obviously from guests littering (shame on you) or from things innocently falling from garbage bags or little hands as they were carried in and out of the rooms through the evening and early morning but every day it made for an unpleasant start to the day and completely avoidable. The staff was there, they had obviously taken elevators (large cleaning carts) and not walked the stairs. When I pointed out the problem each morning they were only too eager to fix it but it is not something I should have even seen.

We were in a 2 bedroom in building 1000. LOVELY! Recently renovated and very very nicely appointed, plenty of supplies for washer, dryer, dishwasher. While we enjoyed the renovated room - this is a very noisy area of the resort so you are hearing golf carts and resort vehicle traffic as well as laughter and cheers from families playing mini golf. None of this is a bad thing but just that it exists. If you find that annoying or intolerable then request a room that is along the lake - they are popular and for obvious good reason (quiet, view) but our party had a room on the 5th floor and 2 units on the second floor and all balconies were very noisy with either vehicle traffic, air conditioning noises (not well thought out for this building - AC placed right below room patios) and the mini golf as mentioned. Also, this resort is on a busy street, next to the freeway and with a helicopter tour company directly across the freeway. The choppers were going non stop during the day over the resort. Again, not a terrible thing and not the resorts fault but if you are looking for a quiet getaway you may want to consider another place. If I were to stay here again I would beg for a room in buildings 2600, 2500, 2400 or 1700 though I have no idea whether these are renovated or not - just that their patios face the lake and there would be less vehicle traffic in that area.

For travellers, this is the only time share condo I have stayed at in all of the US (and I've stayed at several) where I would recommend bringing your own pool towels. Sounds ridiculous right? A lovely resort with 7 lovely pools and generous supply of pool towels in each unit. The problem??? The pool towels are SMALL!!! Who ever heard of a "pool towel" that you can not wrap around your body when you get out of the pool? I am a size 8 woman so my size is not the problem here. Ladies, these towels would be ideal for wrapping your hair up after you've washed it but cover only the top or bottom half of the patio loungers - they do not extend beyond one half of the lounger. Our family of 3 used all 8 supplied towels when we went to the pool so that we could set them on the lounger for comfort (2 each required) and still have something to dry off with. I am not offended when a resort asks for a room key or some type of towel deposit if the towels are appropriate WLR does not charge a deposit for towels but they also give pool towels that are clearly NOT pool towels. Save yourself some aggravation and pack decent pool towels. We saw several families that either brought towels or bought them after arriving.

We ordered in delivery from the onsite pizza place - excellent! Great prices for decent food and good portions. Our entire party shared in this experience and we were all very pleased.

Check in for us was a bit long but with friendly staff. One family in our party had done the online pre-registration and their check in was much better than ours. If you get the email inviting you to pre-register then I would suggest using it.

The activity center and general activities at this resort are very good. We did not do enough (never enough time is there?) but everything was very well planned, friendly staff and no shortage of things to do. We particularly like the Dive-In moving on Wed night. Fun for the whole family!

We spent a lot of time at the quiet pools but did take in some sun and cocktails at the Citrus Breeze Pool. WLR - please tell the bartender that the Mojito Slush was Excellent! He had asked me to let him know as it is a new item but I completely forgot to stop back and tell him how much I enjoyed it!

Lots of complaints about parking here - we read a lot of negative about it. We drove right up to the doors when we unloaded and loaded our bags and then my husband parked the vehicle after and walked back. The resort is building a new parkade so presumably the parking shortage will be fixed in the future. Not a deal breaker for us - we made it work. Certainly not something we would complain about based on our experience. I would prefer a nice unit and good resort to good parking at a lesser resort.

Final note for travellers - we drove around a bit in Orlando, just checking out the sites and there are timeshare resorts nearby that are in quieter areas IF this is important to you.

Thank you WLR staff - we had a lovely week at your resort.

Room Tip: Disney desk in lobby was excellent! Very helpful and convenient.

First the good. The room was open and large with a clean shower and hot tub. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of things to do with pools, putt-putt and exercise. Views are good. Now the bad... check in process was long, confusing for them and several mistakes made. They never got our name right after several attempts. The walls of the rooms are thin and you can hear every conversation
your neighbor has. The driving through the campus is messed up and nearly everyone gets lost. I doubt we will ever go back.

I stayed at this hotel for my birthday weekend....it was terrible. When we first arrived, there was a huge mixup with our rooms and we ended up having a key to someone elses room. Then when that was settled we could not get into our own rooms so we had to wait for about 20 mins for someone to fix our lock. We got past that and went out for some shopping. We came back again we couldn't get through the main door of our joined villa because our wonderful neighbors decided to padlock the door. Again we to call someone and this time we stood outside for about 30 mins and still couldnt get in. I went to office and requested they move me to another room where I don't have neighbors and door issues and he said that it was not a problem. Moved to another room that did have a beautiful view but as soon as we got settled in we found out that we did indeed have neighbors and they were noisy. The rooms were also very outdated and could use a remodel. The only reason I even gave 1 star is because the staff was very nice and professional. This did not turn out to be a great birthday getaway as far as my stay there was concerned. NEVER AGAIN
