Water bugs in the bathroom (everyday), kids by the bus load, breakfast ok if you can get to it, small pool...

My family and I have stayed in this hotel about three times already when visiting WetnWild. After each time, I've decided to give it another chance and overlook certain things because of the things that it does offer.

Positives are: 1. The room is a suite with a separate bedroom. That's great when travelling with family. 2. Kitchen with a full size refrigerator. Also great when traveling with family to save some money. 3. Free breakfast. Enough said. 4. Decent size pool.

Negatives: 1. Every single unit I've been in has had a bathroom issue. In the first unit, the bathtub was clogged after the first shower. Maintenance had to come fix that. In the second unit, the tub faucet would not close all the way and there was a steady stream of water running all night. In the third unit, the bathroom toilet was DIRTY. There was urine residue around the base of the toilet. The shower curtain also smelled musty.

For some, the trade-off might be worth it. But I personally am skeeved by dirty bathrooms and will probably not stay here again because of it. If you are someone who can overlook that, then this hotel will be a great place to stay.

Stayed at Homewood near Universal six nights, together with my wife and two sons. The location is great, near Universal, short way to Sea World, not to long from Disney and close to Prime Outlets. It's hard to get better value for your money in Orlando ($ 129 / night).
The suite had all that we needed and the breakfast was exelent from american hotel standards (wich are way below norwegian). The pool ar great for kids, but a bit on the small side for adults who wants to swim as an exercise.

Stayed 3 nights at the Homewood Suites, attending a niece's graduation. It was a little tought to find since it's a little hidden, off the main road. Just need to keep your eyes open. Right around the corner from Wet & Wild. Check-in went very quick, smooth and they were very nice and helpful at the front desk. The lobby was very clean, there was a sitting area, a small store (open 24/7), a small room with two computers for your use, could also print, a small game room and a small workout room. They also had an outdoor heated pool and chairs/tables outside to sit at. The pool was nice although somewhat small. They also had an area inside for eating. In the mornings they offer a hot breakfast for free. Eggs, sausage, hash, hash-browns, fresh fruit, cereal, drinks, coffee, etc. One morning they had a make-your-own waffle station set-up, other mornings they had french toast sticks. They also offer a lite dinner during the week, Monday-Thursday for free. We arrived on a Thursday but did not attend the dinner so I can't say what they offered. Between the breakfast & dinner, you can save quite a bit on eating out. We had a room on the second floor, facing the parking lot and then the highway. We did get some highway noise but it wasn't enough to bother us. We had a suite with a separate bedroom with two queen beds. They were both clean, lots of pillows/blankets provided. The room was alo big enough to move around in and had a TV/Dresser. The main room had a small kitchen off to the left, 2 burner stove, sink, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher & full size fridge w/freezer. They also provided the basic plates/cups/silverware and a few pans. Everything appeared very clean although we did encounter a few very small ants around the sink area. There was a trash can under the sink. The room area had a full size pull out sofabed, a small table w/2 chairs, a desk with a chair and a big chair in the living room area. There was also another TV in the room. The TV had about 30 channels with free HBO/Family HBO and movies you could pay for along with TV Web/Games, etc. The hotel does offer free wi-fi internet.
They did clean the rooms daily, although not until late afternoon, 3pm or so. Everyone on staff was very polite & helpful and we had a great time. We stayed on a Thurs/Fri/Sat, and paid about $132 a night...... We found it a little higher then other places in the area, but with the free breakfast/dinner and plenty of room for 4/5 of us, we found it was well worth it. It's also right off Universal Drive and very close to everything.
