This was our fifth family visit to Orlando, our previous visits included staying at the Quality Inn International (never again)and 3 villas on US27.

Having stayed in villas before we really appreciated the silent air conditioning, the privacy for our teenage daughters (now 18 and 21), the cooking facilities and best of all a washer dryer. The private pool wasn't bad either :) though we didn't use it every day.

However this year the budget was tighter and there were less of us going making a villa uneconomical and we came across the Cypress Pointe Grande Villas.

I have to say we were not disappointed. The location was excellent and our gas bill for the rental car was much less than in previous years.

We too were worried by the possibility of fending off pushy time share salesmen but they took the refusal in good humour and wished us a happy holiday.

We had the 2 bedroom villa E33A in Whale Cay. It was spotless. We walked around in our bare feet most of the time because they were so sore after a hard day in the parks or the shops and never had dirty feet like one of the previous reviewers said.

My only complaint was that our villa didn't have a kettle and as Brits we need a kettle to make tea. A teapot would be nice too. We had to resort to boiling water in a saucepan. However having viewed some of the user photographs already posted on tripadvisor I now realise there should have been one in the condo and all we had to do was ask. We will know the next time because I certainly have no qualms about staying there again.

We can't really comment on the rest of the facilites because we didn't get the chance to use them but there seemed to be many happy families at the pool and a steady stream of people in the onsite store/deli.

We had only one occasion when we needed help. The batteries in the condo door lock died and we couldn't get into our condo at about 11:30 pm. A quick visit to the front desk ensured a maintenance guy was with us in no more than 5 minutes. He let us into the condo and replaced the batteries on the spot.

All in all this place had everything we needed and was so convenient to the parks and I-4.

“Bit of a Disappointment”

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

Just got back from a 5 day stay at Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. This was a little vacation for myself, daughter and granddaughter. I booked the one bedroom with an RCI exchange and was very disappointed with the size of the unit. The word small hardly describes the unit. It should be called a studio and even that is misleading. I have stayed in hotel rooms that were bigger than this entire unit.

The first room we were given had a surprise waiting for us. We were in the unit for about 2 minutes when a huge (and I mean huge) cockroach went running across the floor. I called the main desk and they changed our room immediately. With a two year old running around I didn't want her in the same room with something like that. We were moved to a second floor room.

I didn't feel that the units were really very clean. After walking around on the carpet for a couple of hours the bottoms of our feet were very dirty. The bedspread and window treatments were old looking and could use a refreshing change. The hallways always seemed to have a bad smell like garbage or something like that.

We ordered food from the on site deli and I waited while it was prepared. You can see as they make the food and I didn't think it looked very clean either. We didn't eat much of our dinner that night after seeing this.

Yes, there are some good points to this place. Everyone was friendly that worked there. The pools were nice and we enjoyed spending time on the hot afternoons. The resort is very close to attractions and good places to eat.

Bottom line is that I would probably not recommend this place to someone if asked. I'm sure that the 2 bedrooms are much nicer, but all and all I think the place looked clean on the surface, but the dirty carpet really told the true story.

“Absolutely Perfect”

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

My family and I have just returned home from a wonderful week at Cypress Point II. We are timeshare owners with Sunterra and chose to stay this year at Cypress Point because last year was great as well. Last year we chose Cypress Point because there were simply no other units available by the time we were able to book our vacation. However, this year we planned our stay there!
The Resort itself:
We always book a three bedroom unit. To get a three bedroom unit, you get a 2 bedroom unit--with a full kitchen, washing machine, dryer and patio, and you get the adjoining one bedroom studio which includes a small kitchen of its own and a small balcony as well. This is great when you have teenagers as they can go over to the other unit and feel like they have their own "place." Each unit has a sofa which pulls out into a double bed as well. This was nice since we have relatives in the area that popped in occasionally and wanted to stay the night with us.
When you stay at Cypress Point II, you have full access to both Cypress Point I and Cypress Point II. Cypress Point II has two large outdoor pools, and two outdoor hot tubs. There is also a playground and small shop for food needs and take out food ordering. (Make Pizza and sandwiches. ) There is also a mini putt putt golf at Cypress II. There is a small fee for the Putt Putt Golf, however you can pay a flat fee of like $20.00 for the entire week! My kids played so many times that it was well worth the cost. Over at Cypress Point I, there is a fitness room, a game room, a large pool with slides and a waterfall, shuffle board, vollyball, and a swingset. There is no fee to use the activity equipment and my kids had a blast all week there!
The staff:
When we arrived we were greeted at the front dek with cold bottles of water and freshly baked cookies. What a treat after the hour or so drive in the car! The staff at the front desk were nice and seemed very happy that we were there. (They do offer you a welcome package--which includes discount theme tickets etc. However, just a note--to get the discounts you need to attend a welcome breakfast which is also associated with a Time Share pitch. You are NOT pressured to go to this breakfast or to atend any time share pitch at all. You are just informed that it is there if you would like to benefit from it. This year we skipped the breakfast and pitch as we knew we were not interested in purchasing another time share at this time. Last year we did attend, but were not pressured at all and actually didn't end up purchasing more time share. We also walked away with a free Disney park ticket. SO it is basically up to you for this.)
There is a 24 security guard at both Cypress Point I and II. I felt safe at all times and the guard walked the grounds constantly. He also unlocked our unit when we accidentally locked our keys inside! (At one time he helped me carry my groceries upstairs!)
Our Unit:
Our unit was perfectly clean and had everything we needed to get started for the week. We washed our own towels but all you have to do is call housekeeping if you ever need fresh linens during the week. We had a perfect view of the pool and grounds. We were in unit # A44. We did notice the VCR was not working and called the front office. A man came and replaced it with a new one within 20 minutes. The day before we left something had went wrong with the garbage disposal in the sink. I called housekeeping and a man came over and had it fixed in just a few minutes. So we felt like the resort was on top of making us happy with our stay.
Location:
This year we stayed entirely at the resort itself. We spent 7 full days there and the kids were completely happy with it. (On a tight budget this year anyway.) Last year we enjoyed going to International Drive to shop and sightsee. Cypress Point is only a few miles from EVERYTHING. Downtown Disney is across the street, and other Disney parks are within minutes. Sea World is a few miles away as well. Oh yes and last year we went to the large shopping malls nearby. There is a Winn Dixie grocery store right outside the resort where you can buy groceries for the week at reasonable prices. If you want to go to Walmart it is about 20 minutes away.
Although we were completely happy, there were a couple of things that we feel would make it better. There is NO INTERNET ACCESS there! I always travel with my laptop and the kids enjoy checking e-mail and looking up things on the web--even on vacation. We were told that there was a location a block away that offered internet access-but we chose to do without. I am not sure how hard it would be to get Internet access there but that would have been really nice. Most Hotels these days have free INternet Access so it seems natural that the resort may get it soon.
Overall we would rank our stay as Excellent and know that families will enjoy it as well. Although we may travel away from Florida next year, we WILL STAY at Cypress Point again if we plan on staying in Orlando in the future!

“Fabulous”

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

Having read some mixed reviews on this property I was a little apprehensive about travelling. I write to reassure others that our 2 weeks at Cypress Point were fab (2 adults and 2 kids (15 &9). On arrival check in was very fast and efficient. We had a 2 bed condo in phase II on the 2nd floor. The apartment was spotless, spacious and very well equipped. At the start of our 2nd week all the linen and towels were changed and the condo tidied by staff at no extra charge. The 3 pools and surrounding areas were immaculate with cleaners checking toilet facilities regularly througout the day and evening. The deli at Phase II was well stocked and take away food reasonably priced. This property is very well located for all theme parks and the i4.Turkey Lake Road was a great shortcut to most areas.
Can't wait to return next year!

“Perfect vacation spot for our little family!!”

Cypress Pointe Grande Villas

Jul 9, 2007

We recently stayed at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas, Phase II and loved absolutely everything about it. I read alot of mixed reviews on here before going so I wasn't quite sure what to expect; made sure our expectations weren't set high - but our experience more than exceeded what little expectations we did have and so I feel I have to write my review as I find some of the things people actually complain about are way out there! Not sure if they're used to staying at Ritz Carleton or what but this place is a far cry from being "horrible".
Check in was so easy! We checked in -- were then directed to a desk for our "welcome package". Here's where I got ready beacuse I read on here that they're very pushy with their time share pitch so I walked to the desk ready to stand up and firmly state that we were not interested. The guy was a little pushy, wanted to know why we weren't interested but when i kindly explained that attending time share pitches was NOT our purpose for visiting Florida, he gladly backed off and that was it -- never were we confronted again nor did we ever receive the phone call that's mentioned often on here. We went about our week and had a fantastic time.
The room was perfect -- We had a 2-bedroom condo for our little family of 3 (my husband, myself and our 9-yr old daughter). Room was very clean and had everythign we could have needed and more! We absolutely LOVED having our own washer and dryer (I used it daily). We went to WinnDixie's upon arrival and did some groceries for the week which saved $$ from eating out. We had bkfast in our room before heading out for a busy day of park hopping.
And the parks -- location location location! This place is so close to everything! ASide from forking out a lot more $$ to stay in a Disney resort, you can't get any better location than with CPGV. It never took us more than 15 mins a day (and that's with early am traffic) to get to the parks. Restaurants were a hop, skip & a jump away, shopping was close (and oh soo fantastic!)....really guys, you can't go wrong with spending a week at CPGV. This was our first time staying in a condo and believe you me, we'll never do a vacation any other way. Crammed up hotel rooms??? Nope, never again. This was an awesome awesome family vacation location!
P.S. If you're a shopper, make sure you stop by the front desk for a coupon to present when you get to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets -- they'll give you a coupon savings book -- we saved alot of $$ using these coupons...they gave us one coupon for every person in our party which was great! Oh, and you can see Magic Kingdom fireworks every night from this resort (10:00 every night, like clockwork, you'll hear, "boom! boom!" That's the fireworks)
The balconys are screened in too which was fantastic...Geez, i could go on forever....check this place out guys -- you won't regret it!
