“Phase 1 Unit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2006

We spent a week at the Reposrt, starting on August 11. We were in Phase 1, in a 2-bedroom suite. The unit has plently of space for our family of 6. The only difficulty is that three of the kids are boys and one a girl, so it makes the sleeping arrangements difficult.

As previsouly stated in other reviews, there is no door in the master bedroom betewen the sleeping area and the bath area. Most of the time that is not a problem, but....

The Volcano swiming pool is wonderful. All four kids loved it. The two youngest especially lokes the water slide.

The resort is within walking distance to at least a half dozen eating places of all types (The Sizzler has a killer salad bar for $9.99, and a awsome brakfast buffet for $5.99).

The most anoying part of the stay was being woken up on TWO seperate days when we were trying to sleep in my the "Visitor Services" trying to arrange a time share tour.

I vacation in Florida every year and I must say I was pleasently surprised with the resort. I stayed at the property from June18, 2006 until June 24, 2006. The units were nice and spacious and clean even my carpeting (my children walk around in their socks alot and you can really tell if the carpet is dirty) I booked a two bedromm unit through Hotel Kingdom and got an excellent rate. It comfortably fit myself, mother, sister and two children with no problem at all. The one downside to the unit was the bathtub and shower. The bathtub had rust right in the center where water will sit if the tub isn't slanted enough to let it all drain out and the shower floor could have used a reglazing but other than that all was well. I liked the fact that I was not preassured into trying to do a time share presentation. I was asked about it at check in and received one phone call about it (did not answer) but other than that nothing. My room was on the 5th floor in building D where I had an excellent view of a pool (not the volcano pool) and the minature golf course, also the convience store could be seen from my balcony and was a short walking distance. Now I must mention that upon booking my villa two days before arriving I called the property to double check everything and to request an upgraded room with clean carpeting not on the first floor and a view of something other than a parking lot and for the most part they obliged. I normally stay at Westgate Lakes with the bad parking and very rude staff so this was a nice change of place with an excellent location; In other words this property will definitely be on my list when going to Florida next year.

Have just returned from 10 nights at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. We had a 2 bedroom villa - it was fantastic accommodation - couldn't believe the size of it, loads of room, immaculately clean. Great location - loads of lovely restaurants within walking distance.
Very impressed with whole complex - 3 pools, games room, daytime activities, grounds peaceful and kept immacuate. This was our third visit to Orlando and will not stop anywhere else but here on future visits - it is simply the best!

We stayed at Cypress Pointe 23 July-6 August. The quality of the accommodation is really great. We had a 3 bedroom unit in phase 1, which had been refurbished. The kitchen had everything you need and more. We've stayed in so many places which don't provide the necessary utensils in the kitchen but here we had everything. Housekeeping even replenished the dishwasher powder and washing detergent when they serviced the room at the end of the first week (and loaded our dirty dishes into the dishwasher!). Other people have commented on the lack of bathroom doors but we didn't find it to be a problem. One of the bathrooms is lockable from the rest of the apartment. The volcano pool is fun for the kids. The resort is being refurbished at the moment but we didn't find this a problem. The work is being done discreetly and isn't noisy.

The only problem we experienced was that we had reserved a 2 bedroom unit and when we checked in and arrived at our suite we found it was a 3 bedroom. "Great, free upgrade "we thought . Wrong! At the end of our first week housekeeping came and must have reported to the front desk that we were occupying 3 bedrooms. We came back from the pool to find a polite phone message informing us of the mistake and asking us to call at the front desk. My husband went down and was spoken to very abruptly by a desk supervisor who told him we'd have to pay $168 per night for the remaining 7 nights or security would come and lock the room. She made it sound like we'd broken into the 3rd bedroom, but it was wide open when we checked in. My husband asked for the manager who dealt with him amicably, and it was agreed we'd pay a much reduced rate per night for the remaining 7 nights, or we could've moved out of the 3rd bedroom but we decided it was worth the extra cost. In the unit we had, the 2nd bedroom is small with a single bed and a pull-out. On the Cypress Pointe website it shows twin beds but I now guess these are in the Grande Villas (phase 2). We chose Cypress Pointe because the website showed twin beds rather than sofabeds or pull-outs for the kids. The 2nd bedroom we got would have been ok for small kids but not for older ones. As our daughters are nearly 12 and 9 we felt they needed the larger 3rd bedroom hence our decision to pay the extra.

We went to the timeshare presentation and it was ok. It's a one-to-one talk with an agent. Lasted about 2 hours and we got breakfast and $150 in Disney gift certificates which we used to pay for lunch & gifts at the parks. You've just got to be firm and say no at the end, though for some people the timeshare may suit them. It just wasn't for us.

The location is great, though be aware that the Buena Vista entrance to Disney can be congested at busy times of the day. Use the Walmart (couple of miles south on the 535) which is much cheaper and better stocked than the Winn Dixie (2 minutes drive north on the 535).

Overall we would definitely stay at Cypress Pointe again, our only complaint is that the 2nd bedroom had a pull-out not twin beds as expected, and that they handled the mixup over the 3rd bedroom badly, making it seem like our fault that they had left it open. Wouldn't stop me going again though.

  • Liked — Kitchen facilities, good quality furnishings
  • Disliked — 2nd bedroom too small with pull-out bed
  • Tips/Secrets — Try the Grande Villas for bigger 2nd bedroom

We have visited Orlando 11 times and this is one of the best places that we have stayed. Myself and my husband stayed in a one bedroom condo in Phase 2. We tried really hard to upgrade to a 2 bedroom after reading other reviews that the one bed was really small. However the one bedroom is a decent size and was really good as it has everything that is required for a wonderful stay. The cleanliness of condo and the resort is excellant. I am really fussy about where I stay and would never stay in any accommodation anywhere that is not of a 4 star rating or higher, but this place exceeded my expectations. The shop on site sells almost everything from groceries, clothing, gifts etc., and the cooked food that was freshly prepared was excellant, we tried almost everyhing on the menu and had no complaints with anything that we ate. We got back from a 2 day Bahamas getaway trip at 10pm and were able to buy fresh bread in order to enjoy a late night snack. The condo as everything you need including a large size fridge/freezer, microwave, cooker and all the necessary crockery and cooking utensils. The air conditioning was excellant and we used this constantly as the outside temperature was in the upper 90's for the 2 weeks that we stayed at this resort. We only used the one pool and spa that was near our condo and this was really clean and not overcrowded, we walked around the other two pools and these were also very well kept. Each time we visit Orlando we usually like to try out different accommodation, but we will definately return to this resort. It is so handy for everything. All the amenities you need are on site. Downtown Disney is so close and the roads to other attractions are easy reached. We stayed here at the height of the season and never had any trouble parking or getting a sun lounger by the pool. I would recommend this resort to old, young, families and couples it really does have everything needed for a wonderful holiday. We booked via. Travel City Direct and upgraded our flight seats to premier, the seats and service were well worth the £149.00 upgrade. I have travelled with Travel City Direct before and do not normally give them a good review but on this instance the service was second to none. Well done Cypress Pointe Resort and keep up the good service Travel City Direct.

we went to disney for our 5 year anniversary back in april-may.it was me, my husband and our two young children. we have a timeshare so we exchanged it for sunterra. what a great choice, i couln't beleive how close it was to the Downtown Disney main entrance side. we drove down from nj, so when we arirved it was about 4 hours before check in, so we thougt we would try to see i we could check in early and we did with no problem. we had a 3 bedroom lock -off. i coul't beeive the size of our unit. i know people on this site didn't like the fact that the bedroom bathrooms didn't offer a door but we didn't find it to be a problem, because there is a full bathroom next to bedroom number 2 and that had a door. and right next to that bathroom was a washer and dryer unit. just having that was great,w e didn't have to wash clothes when we got home!!
the kids had fun in the volcano pool! we didn't go see the turtle pool.
they did call us one day to see if we wanted to tak a tour of the place, but we said no- since we already own a timeshare. (but if we didn't i would have LOVED to own this one.) and thay didn't bother us anymore! LOVED THIS RESORT!!

We stayed at the property in May. Having visited Florida several times found the standard of accommodation and location of the property excellent. Seven of us stayed in a 3 bed apartment and we had ample space with a good supermarket just around the corner to buy the essentials from. After a long day at the parks its was great to be back in the apartment within minutes. No cleaners (only at an extra cost) were provided but ample towels were given to each bathroom to last the week.

Would definitely go back, hopefully next year.
