“Better Than my last Orlando condo experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

This condo/time share complex is located close to Disney and other Orlando venues. It is an older property with some modern upgrades in the kitchen and bathrooms. The property itself is very nice and well-kept and offered some amenities. The pools were great.

The unit we stayed was a spacious 3-bedroom, huge by any standard really. The decor was pretty old-school, but generally comfortable. The only issues we had were the bathroom drains not draining very well (standing in 1 inch deep pool of water while showering) and the water itself was pretty mildly awful smelling. The water is probably par for the course in Orlando.

I've had a timeshare at Cypress Pointe for 20 years. When it was first built in the early/mid 90's it was state-of-the-art. Now, at least in Phase I, things are starting to slip. The staff is markedly less friendly, including a particularly grumpy security guard that pestered every single family at the volcano pool and the staff at the front desk. The place is starting to get run-down (see photo), including really sloppy paint jobs and carpeting in the units that really needs updating. Upgrades have been made to the rooms over the last few years but even those upgrades (like the newer TV's) are already outdated. There are missing items in the rooms like glasses and plates (less of them) that repeated calls to the front desk to replace go unanswered. I stayed at Floriday's in Orlando the night before getting here for the week and the differences between these resorts are very noticeable. They do appear to be trying, to give them some credit. The playground has been updated and they replaced the kiddie pool with a little fountain that looks pretty fun for kids. If it seems like I'm nitpicking it's only because I pay ***$1,800/year*** in maintenance fees (yes I know - outrageous) and I have a right to a totally modern, clean and friendly resort as a result. I do not. This all started once Diamond Resorts International took the property over and doubled my fees. I won't badmouth them here as I want this review published but you have been warned. Still a very nice property, but slipping.

Room Tip: Call ahead to arrange a ground floor room. There are no elevators in Phase I and it's not a who...

Even though we got off to a bumpy start with the rude receptionist, Deserae, our visit turned out pretty good. The two room suite for 7 of us was definitely more affordable than 2 rooms anywhere else near the theme parks. Navigating around the property was a little confusing, having to cross the street into another section and wind around. But it was clean and the pool was nice.

The Good: The resort was fine. Condos were clean and nicely furnished. Beds were comfortable. The staff that we dealt with were all very pleasant. We used it as a central base and traveled to both coasts which is where we really wanted to spend time. We spent one day at Epcot and one day watching a Spring training ball game. Both of these places were very close and easy to get to from the resort. It was also very easy to access the freeways, Lots of shopping and restaurants close-by make it a great location. The pool/hot tub is open til 11p.m. which was nice.
The Bad: The inventory that must be taken by guests at check-in is way over the top. Everything, literally everything in the condos must be counted and checked off. Think each picture, each flower arrangement, each knife, each towel etc! We turned it in and never did get the things we were missing. I'm thinking it was a cruel joke as it took a fair amount of time!
The Ugly: Nothing! I would recommend this resort especially if you are a family and spending time at WDW.

This is not a new resort but it is very well maintained. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a grand time. It is in a great location. The units are very spacious and comfortable. The washer/dryer are a great benefit. When you stay for any length they are a necessity. Flat screen TV'S in all bedrooms and a large flat screen in the living room. Kitchen and baths are very well stocked and comfortable. My only complaint is in the master bath the switch for the jacuzzi tub is across the bathroom. It cannot be reached from the tub. You have to get out and walk across the room to turn it off. The pool is wonderful. I met a gentleman that travels around Florida for 16 weeks ayear and this is his favorite resort.

Hubby and I along with our friend and her two children stayed in a three bedroom unit. It was the vacation of a lifetime! Rooms were very clean, newly renovated. Staff was very courteous. This is a timeshare type resort so there is not room cleaning every day. But this is true of all time shares so no problem there. The kids LOVED the pool. The game room was great. Since we were at Disney alot, we didn't spend as much time as we would have liked to...but we spent at least two days at the resort all day. It is off the main drag so it is nice and quiet. But it is walking distance to some nice restaurants and is just down the street from Wynn Dixie the grocery store. About 5 minutes from the entrance to Disney property at Downtown Disney Marketplace when traffic isn't too bad. 10 minutes when traffic busy. Walgreens within a about two blocks. Comfortable beds, nice full kitchen, roomy living room. Even a vacuum cleaner, washer and dryer in the unit, laundry basket, ironing board and iron and safe. Nice hot tub in unit. What more could you ask for?

Room Tip: We were right next to the pool and the units are built so well we never heard anything.

Clean, well-equipped, pleasant staff. Home from home!
This is our second stay now, and find it really convenient for Disney, and all local amenities. Also it's a simple drive to and from the airport, and handy for jumping on I4, if going to Tampa/St.Pete's/Bradenton. Downtown Disney is 20/30 mins stroll away.
Would definitely stay again if going to Lake Buena Vista
