“Luxury, comfort and fun, not for the casual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2010

We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando in January, 2010 with two young girls, aged 5 and 2. Its location near Seaworld was convenient to the airport and major attractions. As expected, the staff was superb and did not fail to attend to any detail of our trip. Each visit past the front desk was a chance for the girls to have a cup of ice cream, and everyone was quite tolerant of the kids in this very adult establishment. The highlights of this property for us was the pool, more specifically the pool this hotel shares with its sister resort next door, the JW Marriott. It was a paradise for the kids, and they would have stayed there all day if left to their own devices. Owing to the very slow time of year for tourists, it was relatively deserted, and we found no need to shell out for the rental of tubes to float on the lazy river. The golf course looked very inviting, and the entire property was impeccably maintained. We got a nice tour of the property after a guided kayak tour, which was fun. Note to families traveling with youngsters: some of the restaurants in both of these hotels are talked up by hotel staff to be casual and family-friendly, but I would suggest for breakfast or brunch only; older patrons/romantic couples were definitely not amused by our kids, no matter how well-behaved. The beds and pillows passed a stringent comfort expectation set by my wife, who slept like a baby each night.

After much deliberation we chose the Ritz Carlton Orlando for a weeks stay, but not just any old stay, we chose the Ritz to host our wedding. After 10 months of planning we had high expectations for our stay and our big day - we were not disappointed!

We stayed here last month (Jan 10) Having had the usual delay at LGW we finally arrived a little tired at around 21:30 on a Saturday night. The Ritz only has valet parking, there is no self park option (il mention this again later) We pulled up outside and were met straight away by a number of valet staff, doors opened, cases taken care off and shown the way to reception. We were met by 2 reception staff , who provided us with a warm flannel and offered water or hot chocolate - what a lovely welcome, we chose the hot chocolate option with marsh mellows in, delicious! Check-in went very smoothly, and the welcome was fantastic, as we were getting married there it had been arranged for us to be upgraded to a suite, to say we were pleased is an understatement. One of the staff members escorted us to our room along with our bags, he showed us around and how things worked and answered questions we had.

Now, for the room. We were located on the 7th floor, at the end of the corridor. There’s an entrance hallway, with a bathroom to the left, you then enter a large living area, with sofas, table, wet bar and balcony, which overlooked the Ritz pool, lake and the surrounding area, there was also a mini bar and huge plasma above. Then thru double doors into the bedroom which was huge, another huge plasma, large king bed, desk and plenty of storage. The bedroom also had a balcony, with views over the pool, lakes and across the resort to the JW Marriott and also our wedding location. The room also had a walk in wardrobe. The master bath again was very large, with a vanity area, separate walk-in shower, large tub, dual sinks accompanied by an array of quality toiletries. We were delighted with our room, it was spotlessly clean and it tip top condition along with a lovely décor.

Being in Orlando you tend not to spend much time in the hotel, what with sorting out last minute arrangements for the wedding, showing our family around Orlando and doing all the usual theme parks this was definitely the case with us. The weather wasn’t great for the first few days so we only got to go in the pools on the last couple of days. The outdoor areas are very well kept, as with the rest of the resort they are spotless, the plants are well cared for, the grass neatly cut and there’s so much space you always feel like you’re the only ones there which is great. There’s a lot of walks that can be enjoyed, not just around the resort areas, but around the golf course and beyond, we didn’t have much time for it but my parents enjoyed many long walks and said the area was stunning. There is 2 pools that you can use, the Ritz has one, along with a hot tub. The pool is large and oval shaped, the hot tub holds 12 people and was always very hot, which I love. The JW Marriott has a lazy river , that seemed to go on forever and I loved swimming around it, they too have a hot tub, even bigger and holds 18, I really enjoyed the pool area there and that was probably my favourite of the 2.

Food in the hotel - There is plenty of options between the 2 hotels, I think around 11 in total, we tried 3 of them during our stay. We went to Citron on our first night. it’s a large restaurant in the JW Marriott, it was quite the night we went. We found the service very good, the ambience was nice, the food was very good, with typically huge American portions. Id recommend the potato spear to start with and the ribs for mains, however be warned, you need a big appetite to finish it all! As for the cost, its not cheap, but you would expect that at a place of this calibre, bank on spending around $80 a couple for 2 courses and drinks, over $100 if you want a bottle of wine.
We also ate at The Vineyard Grill, we chose this as the location for our wedding reception. We chose to eat inside as it was cool in the evenings. The staff set up the table as we had requested and it looked great, the service we received was very good and the food brilliant. The place has a nice atmosphere and I would highly recommend it. Again, this is not the place if your on a budget, You will spend the best part of $100 per couple for a meal, and nearer $150-$200 with wine, the wine list is extensive and is also very expensive.

Location - You would not know your in Orlando! Its set in many acres of woodland and lakes, your only around 5 miles from I-drive but it feels like 500 miles, there`s no fast food chain or Mickey Mouse in sight, yet if you want that its only a short drive away - 5 to SeaWorld , 15 min to Universal, and 20 to Disney.

Our wedding went as planned, and we were delighted with how well it was planned and carried out - If you want full details on weddings there please contact me as I could write for hour about it, I don’t want to send most people to sleep by making them read about it J

Valet parking - I wanted to mention this as many people have commented about it. I found it a very good service! When I wanted my car, id phone down to valet and ask them to have my car ready for a certain time, when id get there, it would be waiting outside, if it was cold, they would have the heating on, and if it was warm they would have the a/c on for me, they would offer bottles of water and directions if needed, all the staff were very friendly and professional. The Ritz charge $21 a day for this service, which I think was good value and I had no problem with paying it or with the service I received. Upon returning you would be met by the valet staff who would open your doors, help with any shopping bags you had then take care of your car. The key to making sure you don’t have to wait to get your car is to call down before, give them 15min notice and the car will be ready, if you just turn up, you may have to wait 10 min as it is a little walk to the car park.

I could go on forever singing this hotels praises but I think you get the picture, talking of pictures have a look at some of mine that I have posted up.

This hotel is nothing short of fantastic. The staff are exceptional, the hotel and the grounds are wonderful, the rooms are beautiful along with the views. You cannot fail to have a great time there, it is also a fantastic place for a wedding, id cant recommend it enough!

The only thing I would say is that It comes at a cost. Nothing at the Ritz is cheap, and you will end up spending a lot of money, but if you want a holiday of a lifetime and to stay at the best resort in Orlando that it’s a price worth paying. This will now be our hotel of choice when we are in Orlando, anywhere else would just be a disappointment! A definite, 100% 5 stars for the Ritz Carlton !!

This hotel has the service and amenities that one associates with the name Ritz-Carlton. Warm, friendly service, excellent facilities, and outstanding restaurants. Unlike Ritz Carlton hotels in other places like Westchester, this hotel is well managed.

A trip to the Ritz-Carlton has never disappointed me, and this trip was no exception. Great service and attitude was displayed by all. I stayed in the Club Level, and the food presentations were excellent. The lounge is a great place to relax and have a glass of wine in the evening.
The pool was great, again, staff displayed great service. I was at a convention but elected to stay at the Ritz instead of the convention hotel. So glad I did!

We are repeat guests of this property and have visisted many other RC hotels through U.S. This resort has one of the largest and most accomodating Club Floors imaginable. The staff have incredible memories as far as your likes/dislikes and cater to those throughout your stay. Perfect place for a family and equally nice for romantic get-away. The Spa is very large with great gym - try the Ashiatsu massage with JoJo. Next door Marriot offers casual sushi lounge in lobby, which is perfect for quick bite.

We did notice large conference groups while we were there, but it seems they keep busy as the pool and restaurants were pretty empty.

Only downside was the recent change in toiletries - they used to always offer Bulgari products, which were fabulous, and now have changed to a standard type product. Not a huge deal, but the other was such a nice touch.

Highly recommend resort - splurge for Club Floor, staff and lounge are well worth extra money. Easy to drive over to parks if thats what you are visiting for. Otherwise, nice to get lost within the hotel grounds and relax.

Great facility, great staff and service. The room was first class. However, what's up with only one bar to take care of all the convention goers? That could be improved.
