Just got back from a week's vacation in Orlando having stayed at the Doubletree Suites. We chose this hotel for 2 reasons - one to use our Hilton points and two, so our son could have his own bed and TV. We booked the room through Hilton directly.

The hotel ambience was OK. The primary colors were a bit too much and the lobby aviary was pretty lackluster. The kid's check-in bag consisted of a rubber bracelet (which broke the same night) and a mask.

The hotel had several good notes. The rooms were very spacious and the beds very comfortable (though I can't vouch for the sleeper sofa). The kitchenette had a coffee maker, microwave and good sized fridge so we were able to prepare breakfast quickly in the morning. As this is on "Disney property" we were able to have any purchases made at the Disney parks delivered to the hotel. Very convenient!! Of course, the chocolate chip cookies always makes things seem better.

On the down side, they didn't have a king bed available for us upon check-in as was mentioned in our profile. On the first night, there was a fire in their laundry room at 4 am. I thought it was a prank and was too tired to get out of bed. They did send around a letter of apology later that night. Another morning they forgot our wake-up call which made us a little late. The sink in the bathroom had drainage issues but they came and fixed it once alerted.

We only ordered room service once but it was fine (couldn't even finish all of it). Considering that we hardly spent any time at the hotel and its close proximity to the parks, the Doubletree worked out fine for us but I'm not sure if I'd stay there again. My husband wishes we had stayed at the nearby Hilton.

We stayed at the Doubletree in Downtown Disney in March and I must say that Downtown Disney is misleading! You need to take a bus to Downtown Disney, it is not walking distance! The shuttle service was ok to the parks and downtown. The pool was great and the Disney gift shop was nice. The room was spacious but we had ANTS on day 2 of our 5 night stay! We were on the 6th floor so this could not be a new problem. The ants were coming through a crack in wall by the sink. It
took 3 calls to the front desk to get someone to fix the problem. We had adjoining rooms with family and really didn't want to change rooms so luckily after spraying the ants were no longer a problem. But needless to say I was not happy and would not stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites in downtown Disney for 2 nights.
The room itself was large as some of the previous reviews have mentioned and well equipped. The room was clean enough but if you looked closely there was some room for improvement. There were several little "problems". The bathtub did not drain well. The clock had the wrong time. (I could not figure out how to change it!) The message button on one of the phones didn't work.
In the 2 night I was there, guest services left 3 messages aimed at getting me to visit so they could sign me up for the time share presentation.
The location near Downtown Disney is good. But the bus system to get to the theme parks is awful if you are used to the Disney buses. I hated being dropped off in the parking lot and even worst was waiting for the bus in the parking lot.
There are pros and cons to staying at the Doubletree Guest Suites. You get more room for your money but loose some of the convenience and ambiance of the Disney resorts.

I was headed to Orlando for a convention and decided to take the family. We arrived two days early and decided to choose our own hotel instead of the pricier convention hotel. After much research, and hoping to use some Hilton gift certificates, I chose this hotel. What a great choice!

All rooms are suites. Ours had a room with two double beds and the bathrooms with folding doors separating it from the main living area which had a large sofa, TV and game consoles, a table with four chairs and a little kitchenette (microwave and small refrigerator). I booked a special that included the room and breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children (we paid for the other child's breakfast). The breakfast included a walk up, well-stocked buffet and a cook who would cook omelettes to order for you.

All the service was excellent. Parking was free and there was free Wi-Fi service in the lobby area. There was a free shuttle to Downtown Disney (within easy walking distance though so not really necessary in my opinion). From Downtown Disney, you could catch free transportation to WDW.

Parking and driving access to all the DIsney properties was easy from this location, even during 4th of July week. There is a strip shopping center close by that includes a Perkins restaurant and a McDonald's. Downtown Disney has Rainforest Cafe and other restaurants available.

We have bookmarked this property for our next trip to Disney. Excellent location, value and price!

I've travelled to Orlando 8 or 9 times, and stayed at a variety of places.

This property is located in the Downtown Disney area -- perfect for all of the shops and restaurants, close to highways and all the Disney attractions.

Rooms and baths appeared newer and clean -- staff was great. Price paid was between 160 and 170 per night, a BARGAIN for this quality and convenience at Disney.

Great food (room service), pool was great, pool bar with food a nice touch.

Only annoyances were the few calls left on our voicemail asking about our desire to see a Hilton timeshare. Hilton doesn't use the anooying high pressure selling tactics of other companies, and a simple "no thanks" ended the call nicely.
