Just got back from a week's vacation in Orlando having stayed at the Doubletree Suites. We chose this hotel for 2 reasons - one to use our Hilton points and two, so our son could have his own bed and TV. We booked the room through Hilton directly.
The hotel ambience was OK. The primary colors were a bit too much and the lobby aviary was pretty lackluster. The kid's check-in bag consisted of a rubber bracelet (which broke the same night) and a mask.
The hotel had several good notes. The rooms were very spacious and the beds very comfortable (though I can't vouch for the sleeper sofa). The kitchenette had a coffee maker, microwave and good sized fridge so we were able to prepare breakfast quickly in the morning. As this is on "Disney property" we were able to have any purchases made at the Disney parks delivered to the hotel. Very convenient!! Of course, the chocolate chip cookies always makes things seem better.
On the down side, they didn't have a king bed available for us upon check-in as was mentioned in our profile. On the first night, there was a fire in their laundry room at 4 am. I thought it was a prank and was too tired to get out of bed. They did send around a letter of apology later that night. Another morning they forgot our wake-up call which made us a little late. The sink in the bathroom had drainage issues but they came and fixed it once alerted.
We only ordered room service once but it was fine (couldn't even finish all of it). Considering that we hardly spent any time at the hotel and its close proximity to the parks, the Doubletree worked out fine for us but I'm not sure if I'd stay there again. My husband wishes we had stayed at the nearby Hilton.
